I’ve been working on this one for a while now, and it took me a lot of while to be truly satisfied with my transcription. Still not completely satisfied with the dynamics but hey it’s serviceable. Anyway, I woke up at 5.30am just to upload this... I’m gonna regret this cuz I need to be up for work at 9am.
I wasn’t really impressed by S3 songs at first, and I still don’t particularly know how to appreciate Megumi no Ame. Diamond no Jundo grew on me eventually but I still didn’t really pay attention until I heard the ballade version.
There’s also a Yukino solo version btw, and that one is also in the works. They’re essentially the same song with different styles. Yukino’s is more… emotional, having cello and strings as backing compared to Yui’s guitar of heartbreak. I won’t be able to upload that one anytime soon as I just started that one. But eventually I’ll get to that. I have sworn that I will dedicate my channel to oregairu and violet evergarden.
Regarding this scene and the use of Yui’s ballade, I already knew this was coming because I finished the light novels. Just because I was expecting it didn’t make the feels hit less hard.

I really love the differences between the Yui ballade of Diamond no Jundo and the Yukino ballade. They’re both beautiful and wonderful to listen to. To me, the Yukino ballade is elegant, grand, and hopeful, containing a warm sounding full orchestra. While the Yui ballade is more acoustic, with more isolated instruments, it still feels warm, but it also feels a lot lonelier. Considering the lyrics I think the Yukino ballade feels a bit out of place, but I’d be upset if they didn’t give Yukino a ballade. I feel like this song just really does a good job of conveying the emotions of this series but especially the feelings of Yui. “Full of lies, full of scars” Yui realizes her selfishness, and she wants this relationship with Yukino, Hikki, and herself to continue even if it’s not completely genuine. She just wants somebody to confide in, as she feels like they’re her first true friends (and also likes Hikki). “Diamond tears” she’s cried an ocean of them throughout the series, making sacrifices, hurting herself, pushing people past a comfortable limit, it makes her upset and she wants to change herself. “This is the beginning of the end” at this point, she knows if she doesn’t do something, Hikki and Yukino will most likely try to stop this relationship, as they feel it’s not genuine, and she doesn’t want that. She wants to help them realize how to come together instead of giving up on creating a genuine relationship, but she doesn’t realize until later how exactly to do that. I think Yui is an amazing character, and I really love this song for being able to convey her emotions in a more straight forward way.

After hearing this song, I can fully understand Yui Feelings.
This arrangement is really, like REALLY addicting. 2 years since I had started listening to this, I would have gotten bored if it is for any song. But except for this piano, now I still want to replay the song whenever it ends especially when I am studying. At the same time it is nostalgic as well. Very good job for the one who made this!! Great work, Avant! This is a wonderful arrangement. It sounds so rich and full, but still fits the style of the original so well. You can really hear the amount of care that went into this arrangement. It's a shame that AE was giving you so much trouble. Regardless, you did a phenomenal job on this one.
