I have to admit, I did not know that a tool such as this Auto Hammer even existed. When I first heard about it, I wanted to check it out! Skil was recently purchased from Bosch by Chervon and while I haven't been much a fan of the new brand development, I have to admit that their packaging and 12V offerings look to be pretty good. I was excited to get the Skil Auto Hammer in the mail and check it out. In my video, I unbox it and test it out for the first time. It's pretty funny, actually. I end with my general thoughts on it. I hope it's helpful! More below...

For all the haters, I have used the Craftsman Nextec auto hammer when i used to assemble Kubota tractors. This is great for small to midsize roll pins! Laying on your back under a tractor installing a roll pin into the 4wd shaft twice gets old fast with a hammer and punch.

I didn't know anyone still made these, they were popular some years back. Also, Ridgid made one as an attachment for their multi-tool and it fit the Ryobi multi-tool as well. These can be handy for that occasional hard to reach nail when you don't want to have to dig out an extension cord and air compressor to use a palm nailer for a few nails.

I saw a video of a guy putting a bolt in the head and used it like an air hammer to knock out a stuck car ball joint. Seems it would be pretty handy for that.

This tool looks as if it would have a good home driving nails into trim. I tried to use a regular hammer to drive small nails installing painted baseboard a few years ago and grimaced every time I missed and dinged the wood!

It’s really strange. They removed them from shelves and online retailers very soon after I did this review. I have no idea why. They have been very quiet about it

Def a great tool for around the house type homeowners. Is it meant for a professional construction site? Obviously not ☺️

It's part of the PWRCore 12 line, so it's 12 volts, not 18.I hope it's not too late to correct the title.

This would be perfect for joist hangers and electrical boxes, look at the 12v jigsaw it’s by far the best 12v jigsaw out there.

Your idea has merit. Several years ago I bought the Milwaukee M12 Palm Nailer for use installing over 50 electrical boxes in my new workshop building. No regrets what so ever. Qualifying note: I have lots of M12 and M18 tools so the Palm Nailer fit into the existing battery ecosystem.

I’m a contractor who’s used palm nailers on decks. The power on that tool is a joke. What do you expect from a 12v battery. Thx, ill stick with a pneumatic palm nailer .
