That's the best restomod G/S I've seen yet. I've got a 1986 BMW R80G/S fully original; it used to belong to my mother (no joke) and I did my driving test with it in 1997 at the age of 18. I'm so temped to switch to a 32L Paris Dakar fueltank, single seat and luggage rack. I wonder if it's plug and play and easily reversable.
Thanks Tom! Wow on your G/S, great story. PD tank is not strictly plug and play but it's not that complicated. The best prep you can do is take the front end off and drill an m6 hole through the bump stop, horizontally, and install a nut and bolt. That will stop your handlebars fouling the tank. After that it's plain sailing, just swap on all the parts associated with the big tank.
more about smart carbs please, I love this channel, this guy seems to know his stuff, some installation tips and tricks would be great. Would bring some customers to smartcarb for sure, work something out guys! I am looking into getting an R and would love to put some on.
@@svenvanwier7196was on the phone with them yesterday arranging this. They will soon have a product listing and we'll do an installation video. Thank you
Great video, should have been seen by a much larger audience by now.
@@TheGSWorkshop-n8u thank you
Love the bike. Congrats on near completion!
This bike going to be one of those forever unfinished projects

@@RoughchildMoto actually it is 100% plug and play as long as the handlebars and forks/steering yoke is standard.
@@TheGSWorkshop-n8u if you did that, the factory handlebars would foul the tank. Plug and play until you put a dent in each side
Must be about 5,000 of those original 200 signed gas tanks getting around now!
Nah it hasn't happened, there's a sticker available that most seem content with.
Fantastic OEM plus! Laughing at all the cavity comments. Reducing plastic is a good thing. But then only those who know, know the displacement.
Oem+++ thank you!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Krauser heads on a GS. You are tempting me to spend a lot of money 😂
I'm already building another one...
I used to own a Gaston Rahier signed tank which I sold to a friend who removed the signature!😱
@@TheGSWorkshop-n8u $3k mistake
@@RoughchildMoto I actually did not sell the tank, I swopped it for a washing machine!!!🙄
This is the one i saw at the handbuild show right?
Yeah this is the one
Is there a SmartCarb made specifically for Airheads or do you spec them specifically with the settings for the Airheads from SmartCarb?
