20 years of Debt, harrassment, not moving forwards with anything as expecting debt collectors to come banging on the door, going through extreme depression, 60 years old now and felt like I've wasted 20 years of my life. BUT thanks to you the new understanding I now have of the debt system, I have started to come out of my shell again and am starting to pursue a more "normal" life once more. THANK YOU SO MUCH OYE, for YOUR LOVE My BROTHER! P.S. NOW SUBSCRIBED 🙂

Your videos are gems for the People Oye. I have reduced loans from up to 25k to £300 using a different tactic to what you mentioned. You're absolutely correct, debt collectors fish from a list they buy for pennies and see who bites, they then get busy scaring the shit out of the public with word magic and threats. Your videos come like a public service, keep posting bro.

I spoke to Oye in April 2019 and took his advice. Put this into practice and it's working out exactly how he said. Paying each creditor £1 per month and today one of them offered 60% to settle early. Gonna hold out for longer though, I want a much better discount 😁 my advice to anyone is if you're not sure on the videos, pay the man for his time. It will be one of the best investments you can make. Thank you again Oye 👍🏼

@@whichdoctor4858 just write a letter to the creditor/lender explaining you are in financial crisis, the situation is affecting your family and wellbeing and can only afford £1 a month until your situation improves. As you are acting in honour and still making a token payment, they have to accept. You should look up difference between bailiff and debt collection agent. They will not bother you if you make token payments but also do not fear them, they have no powers.

I really do feel that debt is the modern day disease...I’m like a crazy preacher telling all the young members of my extended family to invest rather than spend their money but I sometimes feel it’s like trying to put out a house fire with a water pistol....they just don’t listen. Even showing them the power of investing, compounding and effects on your money over time doesn’t get through. The penny didn’t drop with me until I was about 30 I’m now 58, but once it did I’ve never looked back - great info in these videos, but people have to also change their behaviour otherwise they just end up in the same situation...been there worn the tee shirt - I can tell you that saving and looking after your cash is so much less stressful than being in debt.

Great video, I took your advice 3 years ago and went to step change who then sent me a typed out letter to send to my debtors to accept my token payment of a £1 per month. I never spoke to my credit card companies I block their numbers and after 6 months the letters started to disappear. I set standing orders for a £1 a month which they agreed to. Now 3 years on I hear nothing apart From a odd statement from one of the debt collection agencies showing my £1 per month. The rest have disappeared. I think they have wrote it off totally without having to settle anything. Have you heard of this? Your video changed my life and for that I’m indebted to you ha.

Hi Oye. Thanks so much for your motivational videos. I have had an arrangement with a debt management company for years making payments of £300 a month towards a pot of £78000 initially. I have debt with 14 creditors. Doing it this way I have managed to get it down to £56000 which is progress however since watching your videos I am making token payments of £1 each to the creditors and putting £286 into my bargaining pot! Have removed 2 debts completely, last 2 I paid off debts of around £1500 for £300. I should have done this sooner but feeling great to finally be taking control rather than being controlled. I am not saying that DMP isn't the answer for some people but there is definitely a better and quicker way if you have the knowledge and desire to deal with it. Once you know what they have paid for your debt the ball is in your court, not theirs! Thanks again for the work you do. Regards. Rob

I was a bit dubious as I too was thinking that only paying part of the amount that I owed was morally wrong and make my credit file look bad. I am currently working two jobs in a bid to pay off creditors this year as I am fed up of being a slave to lenders. I owe about 12k - however, after watching your videos I dont think i'll have to pay out that much as they have all been on token payment agreements for the last few years. I am up to my neck in credit card and loans (about £20000). I don’t know what to do. I’ve been sending back all the letters they have been sending me by “return to sender” and haven’t paid anything in about 6 months. I’ve only just learned about Token payments.
I tried to log into my credit card accounts to make token payments but have seen that they have blocked all access. I don’t know what to do now because I don’t have account information to even start making token payments now. What is the best thing I should do?? Should I write to them and request info so I can start paying them token payments and explain that I’ve had really bad financial difficulty, as I don’t think I should get on the phone with them. I’m nervous because I feel that the fact that I can’t log into it online means the next step is court. I know I should have sorted this sooner but I was depressed and really didn’t know what to do, but I really need to get this sorted now. Help???? Please. I really appreciate this channel btw

  • @mila2428

I’ll go 1 step further. When the bank sells your debt, they do so without ur permission, which is illegal. u have no contract with a 3rd party interloper the collection agency. They have paid ur debt off in full. They will then try to negotiate payments from u. If u accept even £1 a week u have entered into contract with them. Return all letters writing ‘I decline to contract with u’.
Same thing happens with mortgages. Sometimes banks sell ur mortgage to other banks, which is illegal, but they won’t tell u. u have no contract with the other bank & technically ur mortgage is paid off. But u try & get those resale details from the bank. That’s pretty much how the 2008 banking collapse happened, with sold debt

Can they still take you to court if you are making token payments? And finally, at what point do we attempt to negotiate the amounts?
Thank you very much in advance

I took out multiple phone contracts to cover the bills and now my monthly outgoings are higher than what I make. I've tried many times to lump it into 1 debt with a lender but due to the usual credit checks, I've been unsuccessful. What is the best way to get out of this? Thanks

It is an informative video, and definitely a way of approaching debts. My question is: if you make token payments, to any third party; aren’t you getting into contract with them (by that behaviour, as contract law assumes), where it might not be clear that there is an enforceable contract at all.
I have tended to probe them with questions, as well as cross examining the content of the letters (even looking for elements of fraud). I have not paid anything, and the debts (there are two), just seem to be getting, so to speak, tired.

Hi can I ask if you go via debt collectors, and still get defaults of 6 years on your credit file, why would you be against an IVA if ultimately its the same outcome with just paying a bit more monthly to the IVA and you won't get hounded by debt collectors or bailiffs threatening you? I'm genuinely wanting to know as I'm torn on what to do 😭😭

What are your thoughts on bills of exchange act 1882 s23. In regards to debt collectors? A contract with the debt collectors is only formed via agreeing or being signatory to the contract. But in any case should one not agree or become a signed party thus makes it unlawful for the debt collector to pursue somebody for a debt?
In which case would it not be best to do token payments to original creditor and keep it that way? I understand debt collectors buy debts for cheap, but if paying £5 monthly on a £10,000 loan with the original creditor surely brings about a reduction in debt?
as you said will devalue overtime anyway and would expect a discount. Will that be a good approach? Or this only applicable to debt collectors

Hi this is very interesting...however- writing off such amounts of debt - doesn't that blacklist you? And won't a person's credit score drop considerably? Most lenders will see partial settlement- however won't most of them not lend to u for atleast a good 5-10years? My questions may seem stupid but your advice is most appreciated.

    • @Oye_TheRealDebtGuy
      @Oye_TheRealDebtGuy  5 лет назад

Hi, blacklisting due to debt reductions is a myth. You are more likely to be blacklisted if you have been involved in fraud. A persons credit score will definitely drop, I have a videos to cover pretty much all your questions. Check out my Debt Centre playlist and my Debt Questions and Answers playlist too. I'm not sure why everyone has been targeted with debt write off adverts. I've been brought up to not be a debt bastard, if it is not affordable then I don't buy it. It is bloody simple. People who get to write off their debt will just incur more afterwards, they need to be forced to repay it back and sent back to school to work out simple sums so they don't screw up again.
