WOW! 8:26 what kind of release clip are you using? The ones I have I can never get the tension right so that it holds the line but releases when theres a fish
You should probably adjust the downrigger's drag so if you hang up it gives rather than rip the side of your boat off. Looks like you're in cold water. Swimming may not be a good option.

I agree with you that can be an issue. For a 34 inch striper it works great for smaller fish it can be a pain.
What are you fishing out of? it appears that the vessel is barely bigger than you are.

Good advice..... it's a little more difficult with the manual downriggers. I try keep it lose but it can be a challenge.
