    I run the VRide 32. Though most of my lawns are flat, the only drawback is the narrow tires, but you learn how to be efficient without damaging the lawn, even in wet conditions. After rains or heavy dew, there is no comparison. After running through 20 plus lawns a day, I'm glad I bought the SCAG. It just feels like a different class of machine.

  • @wh8085

    I run a SCAG 36" and and love it . It has the same tires that Toro has. I think you are comparing two different animals there. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Toro but you can't compare it to a 32" machine. It's like comparing a mini bike to to full fledge motorcycle. . Any way that said , you bought a good machine. Did it cure your gate problem ? I have gates my 36 just barely goes through . Congrats on your new equipment .

      Came here to say this. Of course the tires on the 32" are smaller, they're the same size on all 32" mowers.

    why are you comparing a 32 to a 40 why not the 36 to a 40?

    • @harolddenton6031

      My exact thought. Scag has a 36 cut model. MY son bought one. He lives in Jacksonville fl.

    • @heacockhardwoods3983
      @heacockhardwoods3983 3 года назад

      I immediately caught that too. My thought was of course you can put a wider tire on a 40 versus a 32. I sincerely value the guy sharing his experience as this is helping me research but I didn't feel it was a true equal comparison

    I'm just a homeowner with 3 yards to cut and I completely agree with your complaint on the tire width. The 36" V-Ride 2 may be a better comparison to that Toro as it comes with 8" wide tires. BUT it's still too heavy at 800+ pounds not including my weight for them, at least on our soil. I swapped the stock wheels and tires out for some 10" wide tires and am much happier with it. Downside is the tires stick out past the deck a little bit on each side but I can deal with that instead of rutting up my yard. Still have to be mindful of the conditions if it's any kind of wet though. Good review!

      Hi there and thanks for your input. I havent unloaded the Scag yet its just been sitting in the barn as I too was contemplating looking for some wider tires, and dealing with the lack of deck overhang. Glad it worked out for you, it gives me some hope!!

    i dont know if its the same up north but if you are doing residential you will not fit in the back of 40 percent of the gates with anything over a 36, with a 36 you will fit in about 97 percent, 32 about 99.9 percent

      @Oxford_Lawn  4 года назад

      Yes thank you I understand, maybe I didn't speak my thought correctly I've used Scags with the Velocity decks and would put the toro up against it anytime, that's all I was trying to say. The Toro really surprised me with the quality of cut on the turfs we use it on, results may be different on northern taller fescues, I can't speak for that but the short tight southern grasses here, its right on par with the Velocity decks. Thanks for your input and watching

    This review was not fair and not correct. The Toro was a bigger size deck then Scag 32. Both company offer a 36 deck and the scag offers a bigger tire on their 36 Vride. You mention the wrong type of deck on the Scag. You did not even come close to taking about the Mechanical side of both units. You did not talk about the engines nor the other main part of both mowers. Do not get me wrong the Toro is a good product but this review was not so good!

    I've had both. Your observations are correct. Was the walker 42" deck too wide?

    • @Oxford_Lawn
      @Oxford_Lawn  4 года назад +4

      Some gates in our area the 42 walkers just don’t fit by a little bit because they are 42 gates but have 1 inch stopper trim pieces the gates close against. Ohhh so close but just don’t make it. Also the yards are getting smaller and I wanted something with no motor hanging out the back. We still have and use 4 Walkers but we needed to adjust our mowers to our changing house home plots, communities are jamming more house and tighter yards! Thank you!

  • @Deltadawg
    @Deltadawg 3 года назад +4

    You are comparing a 40” mower to a 32”? You have lost your damn mind. The scag vride crushes a toro in every possible way. Maybe you should have at least compared the 36” scag instead of a 32”. The Scag is much more comfortable as well. I have a 61” vride 2 with 37hp Kawasaki engine and it is absolutely the most amazing lawn care machine I have ever been on in 15 years of business, running every machine possible. It’s so comfortable and I don’t feel like I’ve been beat to death at the end of the day. It also stripes better than any mower on the market, I can go on and on as to why the vride is the best mower in the world, nothing comes close.

    Grandstand was my choice as well. In the past I needed to switch between my wide-area mower and riding mover to handle my own lawn. I really love being able to have one tool that can do both. I'm not a professional, but I got a 40" Toro Grandstand because it justified itself by replacing 2-3 mowers. Maintaining a large lawn is real easy now ;)

    Thanks for the video I totally agree with all your comments what size deck do you think I should get The 40 the 48 or the 52 I’m just thinking this is easier to teach new operators then having him hop on a walker diesel 48 inch deck and crash into everything with the backend, what should I do for a shoot blocker so the grass don’t go flying everywhere Around mulch beds cars etc.

    • @Oxford_Lawn
      @Oxford_Lawn  4 года назад

      Rich Scott we all absolutely love the 40 Toro Grand Stand. We have the mulch kits installed now, tried a QuikChute blocker that was absolutely horrible and left a huge mess. Best bet is the Toro Mulching kit but leave off the flat plate that goes where the chute is it clogs with grass and leaves a clump line on the right side. Taking the plate off doesn’t hurt because you still have the round added on plate under the deck which blocks the chute opening. The flat plate you take off is merely secondary. If you have more questions let me know I can send you a quick video of what we did👍

    I've come to think that when you are going to a 36" or smaller mower you are better off with a walk-behind. I've run both on the same yards and was quicker with the WB because of better traction. Less fatigue using the stand-on for sure so I guess it depends how often you are using it. Nice video btw, it was a good honest review.

As expected the Turbo force deck does it's thing very well. Oh i did the first oil change filter change today at 12 hrs. Easy to get to everything 😜😅. It was a largish expense but Toro finance made it almost the same repayment I was on with the Raptor. So not a real big outlay for such a fine machine.
