I loved what Mandy Patinkin said when Andre was asked what he liked most about working on this film....."Nobody looks at me" and what he said he loved most about the animals ...."they don't look twice at me". A giant man with a giant heart just wanting to be accepted
Everyone wants to be accepted and yet when your a Giant, or fat or for some reason disfigured all those other people who grave the same acceptance treat you like shit. Kind of like Liberals and Gays saving they wsnt the right to be Deviant and say and believe what they want to but the minutes someone disagrees with them no matter his politely they want them.locked up or jailed or somehow shut up. What a world we live in.
Robin almost breaking down when she talked about Andre's Big Hand on Her Head, keeping Her Warm..... Lord. I'm finding it very difficult to stop Crying My Eyes Out.
Andre was the only choice to play Fezzik. Not just because of his size, but William Goldman, the author of "The Princess Bride", used Andre as the visual inspiration for the character
One of my favorite Andre stories from this movie, Andre let out a 14 second fart and the set went silent. The director asked Andre if he was alright and Andre says, "I am now boss." I wish I could have met Andre. He was a true gentle giant.
As a kid my fathers friend owned the Word Class Championship Wrestling in Texas. We got to see Andre all the time. He was absolutely amazing. Before the wrestling matches we would wait for him at the entrance to the tunnel and he would place his hand over my head, pat my head, and say " Hello little man are we going to win tonight?", and we would always laugh and say " Of Course Andre, no one can beat you!" When he passed in '93 I was so heartbroken. RIP my big friend.
Nice to see that not just us "wrasslin" fans appreciated him. One of the best people on the planet. So hard to believe its been 20+ years hes been gone.
So many classic, memorable moments in 'The Princess Bride'. You'd be hard-pressed to find a film that is adored by so many in quite the same way as The Princess Bride. Fezzik shouting 'everybody MOOOOOOVE!!!!' Is my absolute favorite. I fall out of my chair laughing whenever I see that.
Beautiful video, tearjerking. What a pleasant man he was. Still have a soft heart for that film and loved Andre the Giant in it. All the actors were tremendous, but Andre stole every scene he was in. I wish he would've been in many more movies.
Such a great picture, a little bit bittersweet to see how the sausage is made. I remember flipping onto this when i was 5 or 6, already 15-20 minutes in. End of boat chase and beginning of the cliffs of insanity. I was transfixed for the next 80 minutes. Thankyou Mr. Reiner, Thankyou Andre. This movie makes you immortal.
wether he was Andre the giant, or Andre René Roussimoff you cannot deny he was a good man, a good friend, and a gentle giant. R.I.P. Andre you are greatly missed and we love you
I know exactly what he meant by they don’t make stuff for big people. I’m only 6’6”. Still taller then most but not his size, and I barely fit into anything. Cars, planes, doorways, ceilings. Can’t imagine what he went through being twice my size. Incredible human being.
Robin sounds like she was about to choke up when she talked about Andre keeping her warm, poor thing.Chris Sarandon's story about his kids meeting Andre was hilarious, though! R.I.P. Andre the Giant. A Gentle Giant.
I remember watchin him in wrestling when I was a kid. Then saw him in this. He was a force of heart, patience and careing. Things the people of this world were robbed of when Andre died. We miss you Andre. May you never be in pain again.
1. Andre's lifelong dream was to see a Broadway play. His close friend, wrestling manager Arnold Skaaland offered to buy tickets but Andre refused. He was worried that because of his size, he wouldn't fit in the seat or that he'd block the view of anyone sitting behind him. 2. Andre worked a series of matches with the Ultimate Warrior, who was known to work "stiff" (hit harder than usual). Andre warned him to ease up, but the Warrior refused. During a match, the Warrior ran towards Andre to hit him with a clothesline. As he approached, Andre stuck out his fist and Warrior ran into it face first, legitimately knocking himself out cold. Andre's manager Bobby Heenan was ringside and could barely contain his laughter. 3. Andre was very well known for his generosity and always insisted on paying the tab whenever anyone dined or drank with him, even if he was the one invited. Arnold Schwarzenegger mentions taking Andre and Wilt Chamberlain out for dinner. Andre insisted on paying but Arnold said that since he invited, he would pay. Andre responded by physically lifting Arnold up and carrying him like a baby. 4. Andre loved to play card and board games between matches; Monopoly being one of his favorites. 5. One time Andre was drinking in a tavern when a group of young men kept heckling and bothering him. He tried to ignore it but they wouldn't stop. Finally fed up, he chased them outside where they ran into their car. Andre physically lifted the car and flipped it onto its roof when the men inside. When the cops arrived, they didn't believe their story of a drunken giant flipping over their car.
I recently finished an audio book called As You Wish, written and read by Carey Elwess, about the making of princess bride, and throughout the book, other actors and crew members pitched in to tell their perspectives - if you're a fan, get your hands on that book and listen to it, you'll be smiling and laughing right along with them and crying when it's over.
I wish Andre had gotten the surgery; Paul Wight, Omos and others were also born with Acromegaly, but they got the surgery. Andre refused it; thinking it would interfere with his career.
I've studied gigantism (amateur) most of my life. Andre was the only giant who looked the part. Wadlow would have been just a really tall dude. Shaq though thick build doesn't have the look. No one I know of would have been better for the role. That is amazing to me.
William Goldman, in adapting his novel for the screen, wrote the part of Fezzik with Andre specifically in mind. Goldman couldn't picture anyone else in the role.
in all the interviews and recorded interactions with this gentle giant.. I have yet to read ...or hear about anyone saying anything negative about this amazing human being...
Was living in Aspen when he died. At the bar that night we drank several shots in his honor. Must have been a phenomenal guy to hang out with and have a few drinks. (Better let him have a whole bunch before you start!)
I've been to wrestling matches but I'm sad to say I never saw Andre The Giant in person. I was at a show in Providence, RI. where they annouced he had passed away. The whole building let out a big gasp. No ones mind was on the matches that came after the announcement. Everyone was heartbroken. We love you Andre. Your in a better place. Thank you for the memories.
i still dont get it... when they shot the movie ... was this after Wrestlemania III ? or in 1985 ? i never heard he already was in that much pain in 1985 ....
He died in his sleep in his hometown after an evening of playing cards with his childhood friends. It may have been early, but it was a good way to go.
what was the interview called , I seen so many princess bride interview many of the actors get emotional while talking about andre. but I had never seen that interview.
You can tell how much the cast love and miss him. That's so sweet.
I had the privilege of meeting andre back in early 84. Such a amazing man..
Go on....
Am I the only person who got choked up hearing Robin talk about Andre keeping her warm?
I think Robin did , too .😢❤

The way he tells this story sounds so full of love.
Robin almost breaking down when she talked about Andre's Big Hand on Her Head, keeping Her Warm.....
Lord.
I'm finding it very difficult to stop Crying My Eyes Out.

The biggest man had the biggest heart. Rest Well Andre...you are missed..but not forgotten
Rest Well and Dream of Large Women.
Andre was a sweet, sweet soul.
We miss you andre
Andre was Fezzik in real life.
Jeezus I remember princess bride when I was 8, I'm 43 now, and I'll never tire of the movie 🥺😁
I saw this document and when Mandy said, "nobody looks at me", I started crying like a kid! 😭
the true definition of gentle giant.
One of my favorite Andre stories from this movie, Andre let out a 14 second fart and the set went silent. The director asked Andre if he was alright and Andre says, "I am now boss." I wish I could have met Andre. He was a true gentle giant.
The love of all the people talking about Andre SHOWS the kind of person he was.

I met Mr. T once at a Chinese restaurant in Indiana they sat at the table next to us he was super cool.
Damn I'm literally in tears 😭 such a sweet guy and totally genuine wow

Andre...you will always be just one of the guys. I left my glass to you and salute you. There will always be a place for you at my table.
Every actor in this movie sounds like a gem. God bless you all. What I wouldn't give to meet you all.
Beautiful video, tearjerking. What a pleasant man he was. Still have a soft heart for that film and loved Andre the Giant in it. All the actors were tremendous, but Andre stole every scene he was in. I wish he would've been in many more movies.
+82McKinley He's getting his own movie now and I bet you that everyone will be crying when they will be leaving the theatre
probably one of the most amazing people to have ever lived. I can only imagine what it was like to know him.
Sometimes a special person can touch your soul in surprising ways. Andre was a surprise and a delight, and he is missed.
Such a wonderful guy, character and a heartwarming film. One of my favourite movies ever.. GBNF Andre

Andre was a legend in his time. R.I.P. big guy.

His heart only surpassed his size.
Rest in peace. 🕯
You did not want to piss him off his tales of strength are legendary could you imagine being clocked with that skillet sized hand
Watching this, I think it’s starting to get dusty in here now my eyes are watering. Thanks from.St. Paul Minnesota.

#5, Why? Why would you antagonize a guy that's clearly six men combined into one?
@@timtheskeptic1147 alcohol, of course
@@timtheskeptic1147 Or because "Lol wrestling is fake". It seems they forgot wrestling is SCRIPTED, but Andre's strengh was not.
#4, he was a HUGE fan and loved playing Cribbage
@bigmikex2464 That's correct but Dèdè (Andre) also played gin Rummy, canasta, chutes and ladders, dominoes, backgammon and checkers
rest in peace andre god bless you
I have named my first born son Wesley. Me and my wife love this movie!! Its a classic!!
Touching memory RIP

Loved Andre ❤
:40 That was very sweet.
RIP Andre
"Natural acting from being in the wrestling ring" Zing!
One of the great movies from my childhood think i was 7 or 8 when it came out. When i see it on cable I always watch it.
Rest in peace, Andre.
Best movie with the best casting! And Andre was the icing on top! I still miss him! :(
Amazing!!!!
"EVERYBODY, MOVVVVEEEE!"
Best quote ever!
We miss you Andre! Thank you!
This made me tear up ):
Jane speciale I know what you mean.
Happens to everyone.
I wish Andre had gotten the surgery; Paul Wight, Omos and others were also born with Acromegaly, but they got the surgery. Andre refused it; thinking it would interfere with his career.
His drinking is legendary!!! What would normally put a regular person under the table,BARELY GAVE HIM A BUZZ!!!
I loved Andrea we miss you 😭
I'll admit it. I teared up.
Thank you so much for posting this video!
This movie is amazing👍

How about Big Show? I was thinking Michael Clark Duncan would have worked in a remake, before he died.
William Goldman, in adapting his novel for the screen, wrote the part of Fezzik with Andre specifically in mind. Goldman couldn't picture anyone else in the role.
Not forgotten Andre
in all the interviews and recorded interactions with this gentle giant.. I have yet to read ...or hear about anyone saying anything negative about this amazing human being...
god bless Andre
The 6 people who gave andre a thumbs down. You make me puke.
Was living in Aspen when he died. At the bar that night we drank several shots in his honor. Must have been a phenomenal guy to hang out with and have a few drinks. (Better let him have a whole bunch before you start!)
He seemed like a damn fine person the world could use more of.
Rest in Place Andre The Grant
What a nice tribute. :)
a big man that has a heart bigger then the world!

this was great
I would have loved to meet him
Andre the giant with his health and size just lived life to the fullest no matter what just like Robert wadlow
God bless him. I was devastated when i found out he passed
I bet it was like having a real-life fairy-tale character on set. I'm sure it helped the rest of the actors get into the film's headspace.
🙏🙏🙏 rest in peace 🙏🙏🙏
Nobody is going to talk about Andre’s giant farts?
As of this post: 464 to 0.
At least in my personal experience, that may be a RUclips record.
508 to 1
945 to 6 people that need to die
I swear, Andre was the closest we'll ever get to a Salamander Space Marine in our lifetimes. A giant, but a gentle one.
R.I.P. boss
R.I.P. Andre the Giant
❤
Im not crying, you're crying
Andre and Mandy have such big hearts...I wish I had one like theirs. Correction...I wish everyone had one like theirs.
Anyone know if the music in this was just for this or a previous piece? I'd love to just listen to the music.
the ultimate gentle giant
Fuck, i miss Andre so badly.
What a guy..
It's a shame that he is gone!
i still dont get it... when they shot the movie ... was this after Wrestlemania III ? or in 1985 ? i never heard he already was in that much pain in 1985 ....
he will be miss
he died at the age of only 47
that's...that's so sad
Really big guys rarely last long. Lots of strain on the heart and other organs.
its one of life's cruel jokes
He died in his sleep in his hometown after an evening of playing cards with his childhood friends. It may have been early, but it was a good way to go.
Dawn Seeker Only 46
IT really seems like you treated him well, and still love him afterwards. :D I wish it were that black n white in reality.
Andre had recently had back surgery, they forget to tell you that. He slamed 305 lb Hulk Hogan a year later !!
Jerry Dandridge!
@Phavonic lol. Surprised he didn't adjust the bridge of his glasses at the same time.
Damn onions...
what was the interview called , I seen so many princess bride interview many of the actors get emotional while talking about andre. but I had never seen that interview.
This is why RUclips exists.
1:36 goof winkle
You know there's one thing that big people and small people have in common we all just want to be normal sized
hey cosh666 I was thinking the same thing
