At least in my case, the internal fan of the PA50 was unnecessarily high RPM. I simply put a resistor (can't remember the value) in series with it to lower its speed. It's way better now. Even with the reduced speed it still doesn't get much above 40°C even when contesting in CW at 40W. It's still a little annoying so I think I will open it again and put a higher value resistor to reduce the speed a little more. It's not advisable to turn the fan completely off because usually just having a little moving air on the heat-sink makes a huge difference (compared to no air movement at all).
Can you tell me if the micro pa50+ is able to run at lower power output of max 7-10 Watts. I'm looking to use it with my hermes lite 2 to drive an rm Italy amplifier which requires 7-10 Watts input at maximum. Thanks for doing these videos on the hermes etc very informative.
My QRP rig has no output power control. It puts out 5W. My PA50+ goes over 50W with the 5W input. It sets off the alarm and then shuts off the amp. I did notice that the amp can run at a much lower voltage. And its output power drops. I tested with a LiPo battery that was a bit low at 11.1V. So I ordered a 9V power supply to see if I can get the power output down and the alarm off. If I can get 25W out I will be happy.

Hi, got my MicroPA50+ today and when testing I noticed that on 15m (21.220) when I press PTT, the unit goes into "BYP". SWR without tuner is 1.2. Any thoughts why this is happening. Other bands, PA mode is working just fine.
I had the same issue. 15m and 30m don't work and just show BYP. There is a multi-click option that is missing from every manual I can find, that is for "30/15m Open/Close". This comes up after 8 clicks. Do the 8 clicks until it says "open". Then power the amp off and back on. This seems to enable/disable 30m and 15m operation. Same as for the 7 click menu option for "17m/15m SWR On/Off". No mention in the manuals, but turns the SWR meter on and off for 17 and 15m (no power cycle needed).
Nice job. However a comparison of the inside of both amps would have been nice. Maybe there wer changes too in the circuit. And please allow me a little advice: get yourself a tripod. It makes your videos less shaky and you have both hands free to show things.
I had quit using my Micro PA50 because the fan was too loud. I like your solution

07:40 That resistor that you soldered on top of the other resistor is not 68 Ohm as you mentioned. It is indeed 47 Ohm ...
