A video that was put together to show the day of 37097’s first engine start in 12 years in April 2021. Thanks to Craig Nicol for putting this fab video together!
That started so quickly, you must have done a good job. You see so many that struggle to start, first on one cylinder and eventually all of them when it's warmed up a bit and is cranking really quickly. Well done indeed, this should last for a very long time in its preserved environment.
Was the video cut? Started within 5 seconds! In other videos it takes over 5 minutes until the things run more or less stable, usually not before having engulfed their whole surroundings in black smoke! Good Job!
As a 56yr old ex trainspotter but still enthusiast, that was fabulous to see a younger generation bringing back to life a loco what was already a few years old and more when i myself was thrilled to see one of these.... fabulous....
I worked car trains from Cowley BL with that engine in 1979 after she was transferred to Stratford . Lovely work tremendous paint job too !! In 1970s livery . 😃😃
I'm always pleased to see 37s as they are one of my favourite British locos. Looks to be in lovely condition, inside and out. Well done. Nicely filmed, too.
Congrats to all for bringing another 37 back to life👍 For a small group you've obviously got the necessary skills and dedication, that has to be the best first start up, so smooth and quiet and those twin exhausts are just beautiful, well worth the donor engine for the rebuild. Good luck to you all.
Great Work Guys, Its just so nice you kept the Split Headcode Boxes, This is how I like them to remember them by, In the Late 70's-eary 80's Stratford Depot in London did heavy maintenance on many type of BR Locos & started to put Paint the boxes with these Black with White Dots instead of the older plain Head-code boxes.
Congratulations! Just this past weekend (26th Nov) at the Don River Railway in Tasmania, Australia we did the first start in preservation of a cousin of your loco! The Tasmanian Government Railways Z class were built by English Electric's Rocklea works in Queensland and internally are almost identical!
Brilliant to see another 37 running again. I do have a soft spot for the split head code 37's. I've worked on 37's myself, so I know how much work goes into the restoration, and of course, the money that has to be raised to buy parts. Well done, I will need to visit your Railway once she is hauling trains again.
You guys and girls have put in a huge amount of effort to get that 37 in to that condition 😊well done to you all some of those locomotives were built in my home town of Darlington co Durham
Most excellent congratulations to team Caledonian thanks for saving our past for our future. The video footage was excellent Drone and roof shots across the engine makes for a much more interesting video. I hope to see more from the group and will subscribe
WOW!, Liked and subscribed. You should all be so proud of what you have achieved. She looks and sounds awesome, so glad that you got her started. Would love to come and see her but Nottingham is a fair way, (must try to convince the Mrs that a road trip is in order :). Keep up the great work all of you.
Well done to all the team and congratulations! Having recently moved to the area from England it’s great to see such dedication to preserving Scotland’s railway heritage. Have subscribed and look forward to seeing more.
