  • HSBC - Tax Evasion, Money Laundering for the Mafia & Currency Manipulation HSBC Scandal
    #HSBC #documentary #stockmarket #fed #investing #wealth #inflation
If HSBC were a country, it would be the fifth world economic power. Founded during the golden age of the Opium trade to enable the British Empire to access the Chinese market, it has created a unique network to move dirty money around the world. From tax evasion to money laundering for the mafia and manipulation of currency, “this bank had done everything bad that a bank can possibly do.”
In 2012, HSBC nearly lost its license to operate in the US for laundering the money of the Mexican and Columbian drug cartels. The allegations were made by U.S. authorities, who accused the bank of failing to implement proper controls to prevent money laundering and other financial crimes. Criminal charges were filed and HSBC’s executives hauled before a Senate committee. But George Osborne, UK’s then Chancellor of the Exchequer, wrote to his counterpart in America and to the Chairman of the Federal Reserve to plead for leniency. He claimed that if HSBC received a harsh punishment, it would have serious repercussions on the world’s financial and economic stability. The letter worked and HSBC was fined 2 billion euros. The equivalent of one month’s profits.
As the center of international finance moves to Asia, HSBC is in prime position. It is the most Chinese of Western banks and the most European of Chinese banks. Protected by London, blessed by Beijing, who would dare attack it?
This documentary was first released in 2017.

HSBC is not alone. Standard Chartered (SCBFF), ING (ING), Credit Suisse (CS), Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), Lloyds Banking Group (LYG), and Barclays (BCS), over the past several years, have been fined for facilitating transactions with nations such as Iran, Libya, Sudan, and Myanmar in violation of the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) sanctions. Supporting illegal business activities (Panama Papers scandal) was just another sideline.
PS - You have to wonder if these days, Board of Directors would have been sanctioned and HSBC forced to sell Mexican subsidiary or some other measure beyond the $2 billion dollar fine and agreement to comply with law.
PS2 - Interesting how Credit Suisse (CS) was ultimately brought low by the recent financial instabilities. It shouldn’t of been, but was rotten and couldn’t be saved. Deserves its own video.

That should be correct. Because... HK was a soveign country back then. And the PRC did not actually solidified to have its own banks, and various entities. And it was a ROC's "bank"... that actually was supporting oversea's US funding. This was correct, and right in accordance to Eight Nation's deals. When I look at this video now.. in 2023.. I realised what HAS happened... Because... I bet that, some companies tried to get onto cloud platforms.. but was compromised or something. Cos when Singapore's Barings happened.. it was clear ?.... And when the World Bank tried to actually expand into SE Asia... that was when... confusion etc. And this is why.. the PRC took advantage too... and Lippo also took advantage as well... Cos they created their own banks. And then dragged Tesco into their own structures per se... and... Tesco ended up funding the PRC's army basically. (Which, in today's terms.. they refuse to accept that they were the army, cos they restructured !)
(I am trying to say that... there were "deals" done between nations even before the 1800s... So that was the truth. Before the modern day banking setup. The question was, whether it was correct to join them together or not. Maybe they should not have been joined together... at all.... I dunno. A lot of people often say "but you earned out of this." But that was a "ratio"... i.e. As communities or societies.. their wealths went back into the banks.. and their next generation got to utilise it as well... So.. from this angle.. is it fair or not ? )

Although I believe there’s a lot wrong with Hsbc, the fact that China does not allow an individual to export more than 50,000usd yearly is a questionable legislation which kind of asks for people to break the law, for example because they want their children to study overseas. I cant see that as money laundering, although it’s illegal in China ( no where else )

One can liken this to one organized crime family muscling in on another and then the other looks to make the outcome either favorable for them or send a message to other families not to challenge "their patch". And what of the people that got (or gets) caught in their crossfire?

That is not what really happened. What really happened is that, some of the British Empire's actual trading, is mixed up with actual global banking, or the rising of the other countries as well. So... this is why, some countries acted out, like they have a say in the global banking system, even if they are not involved or were never involved in those old Empire's trades.... Now that, is shocking, isn't it ? And in terms of the Chinese sides' growth... It was seen as a UN level bank. But it was a mere high street bank in the UK. It never mixed IB with retail. This is what caused global melt down really... trading contracts are mixed up with regular savings etc etc... Mixed up with regular remittances.
