Thank you for the video, it was very good. I was confused whether в was pronounced or not, so thank you for clearing that up.

      I'm happy it did!
в is just kept from the original word, здравие (old for здоровье, or health), and once this word becomes a wish "be healthy" (здрАвствуй, здрАвствуйте), в becomes a part of a consonant cluster (-вств-). It would be hard to pronounce all the four consonants, so the first в disappears

@@RussianComprehensive simply say hello they automatically they understand it.why should i stress myself with that one word.russians will accept "hello" rather than me saying zdrastvuyte incorrectly.instead of greeting it turns out unpleasant to hear.

I guess it depends on your goals, and whether you’re trying to learn Russian. And that’s the video on how to pronounce it 🙈

Personally, I never thought it was so bad. I know, for many people, it's the first part that gives them trouble. If this is also the case for you, try saying "she is drawing", and then focus on the "is draw" part; practice saying only that out loud, and then reduce it - 'is draw, iz draw, zdraw... Здравствуйте!'. It's possible, to use the same trick to accustomize yourself with other Russian words, you find initially challenging.
