damn now the kid has a lifetime pass to decide his own bedtime...cause you already know he's going to start bring up how he saved everyone whenever he gets told to go to bed
I dont think people realize how scary carbon monoxide is , it doesnt smell and has no color , so you might as well breath it and not notice , and the thing is , you start to get dizzy , but it can easily be thought as you just being sleepy , so if the kid didnt check out the alarm , he would start getting dizzy and probably think he was sleepy and go to bed , and his whole family would've died in their sleep .
yeah and it's really dangerous compared to carbon dioxide because unlike the notably larger molecule of carbon dioxide carbon monoxide is actually only slightly smaller than the size of diatomic oxygen molecules so your brain doesn't send a signal to your body and what's more is that carbon monoxide actually binds much better to your blood than that of diatomic oxygen and it can't even get rid of it and it also will release diatomic oxygen in favor of carbon monoxide just because it's more chemically stable tk have the carbon monoxide which is also why it can't get rid of it

CO is no joke. Its been 16 years since my cousin and aunt died from poisoning due to a half assed gas heater repair. If they had these detectors they'd still be with us. It's one of those things people dont think about until it happens to a loved one.
I lost a 6 week old nephew this way. VW mechanics didn't fix the heater properly. Horrific loss. He was such a cute little guy. May he rest in peace. His poor parents. It was awful.
@@LiseWrigley So the people paid to do the repair don't face any consequences?? They get away with failing to repair something that gets someone killed??
My neighbors almost died to carbon monoxide about 20 years ago. They didn't have detectors, but the kids woke up disoriented and their cockatiels were acting weird. One kid threw himself down the stairs and opened a door and got help.
Wow that's actually pretty neat considering people used to use canaries to detect carbon monoxide. It's lucky the cockatiels were acting weird... I'm assuming the kids woke up because of the cockatiels making noise? Otherwise it's odd the kids would all wake up at the same time.
My dads going on 63 and his best friend (from childhood) passed away in Jan 2023. He was on his lunch break in his work truck and due to carbon monoxide he fell asleep and never woke up. His coworkers found it odd he didn't return after 2+ hours and found him in the company truck they all rode into at the work site. I have no details on how the truck was parked or how the carbon monoxide got into the truck. There was no fool play. Possible exhaust leak or some kind of error with the truck. My dad is a mechanic and was so upset at how preventable his death was. Plus my dad was suppose to visit him before it happened, so he felt a ton of guilt not seeing him. They were both getting ready to retire and enjoy going on trips with their wives. My dad won't retire now. I think work keeps him busy and to not reflect on thinking about his best bud dying. I hope my dad gets peace and retires soon, so he can enjoy what's left of his life. I know his best friend would want him to 💜💫. Carbon monoxide is no joke. Be extra cautious 🙏
It may have been his friend had the truck idling. This is a big no no. May he rest in peace. And may your dad find the support he needs to survive this loss. Big hug to you as well. Your own life has been effected by this as your dad is probably very distracted and isn't as available to you as he used to be. The intensity of the pain will ease but it takes a long time. I wish the best for you and your dad.
Even when I travel and stay in hotels I carry with me a pocket size carbon monoxide detector. I almost died while asleep when I stayed in a resort for a vacation. Luckily, one person in the group who I share a room with has his detector by the bedside table and heard the alarm going off. The hotel staff eventually found out that a gas pipe has leaked in the kitchen right inside the room we were staying at. Since then, I now carry one wherever I stay even in expensive hotels.
what continues to be sad especially as we heard here in the interview, the default assumption was either dead battery or nussiance alarm, the KID took it seriously
