Great comparison and analysis!
For me as a light user, M1 MBA seems to be good enough for document editing, watching videos, short video or light photo editing… theses sorts of undemanding tasks.
I am maybe BIOSed, but it makes sense to me that MBPs are for professional tasks. So MBA and MBP are for very different users.
I had a 2012 11’ MBA when I was a student. I liked the lightness and portability. Even it heats up, it gets the job done. Now I am using a 2013 iMac and a 2015 13’ MBP, they still do their jobs well enough. ( Now I edit family videos from time to time, no big projects at all.)
I haven’t get my hands on the M1 or M2 MBAs yet. I read about how powerful the M1 is, and new designs on the M2… I like them both, to be honest. And I think I can do very well on either one.
I have to run a lot of astrophysics codes in python. run a 4 core virtual machine to run some other simulations as well.
Do you think switching to M2 air base model better than going for M1 Air base??
Thanks, I got worried with thr heating, but cools very quickly and i guess I have to use ot bit longer and observe more
My 13 2015 MacBook Air is on its last leg, macOS 12 really was a disappointment as the final available software for the device, however 7 years for a laptop not bad. Looking at the m2 air, but leaning towards the 14 pro at this point. Video was insightful. Thanks.
Still rocking with my m1 mba :)
Great to see a sensible video !
You should do a thermal mod for the M2 like you did for the M1 Macbook Air.
