    I respect Chael for respecting his trash talking boundaries - you can only get so far without humility

    • @cosmicabyss7358
      @cosmicabyss7358 2 года назад +2

      Its not necessarily humility as much as the fighters understand the social dynamics outside of fighting towards other fighters.
      Mike Tyson doesn't hate Chael because he knows Chael was just talking like a fighter and its not meant to be personal.

    Well said. It's so easy to just jump on the bandwagon of single individual(s) in a sport that's 1v1, but it's ideal to view ea fight on an even playing field. If one of your favorite fighters is getting it done then power to him, however if he's getting his ass handed to him, respect goes to the man earning the win.

  • @FroRogan
    @FroRogan 12 лет назад

    Fair enough but them days of constant rematches don't work now that there are more fighters on the roster and more fans. Back then Chuck, Ortiz, Couture and even Shamrock were the biggest stars and they constantly re matched coz there wasn't too many more big stars. Now there is more options for new title fights with more fighters and fans get sick of rematches now. Personally i'm done with Silva vs Chael after 2 clear defeats. I'm excited with Chael at LHW.

    As dominant as JJ is and as good a coach Greg Jackson is I wouldn't be surprised if that is all he has been working on since he got the title. Which although it is not too long ago, still is a couple years training. However, even that is a testament to how good JJ is. He is still learning!!! Which means he is going to get better!!! That is a scary thought.

    You know what is one of my all time favorite RUclips videos? That video of him sitting in the car with Wanderlei Silva and him (Silva) telling him to cool it on the insults about Brazil. You can feel the connotative threats in Slivas message to Sonnen. And all that tough talk and "I'm from West Lin Oregon" was no where to be found... Sonnen was SILENT. Chael talks a good game and is a good fighter but his mouth gets him into too much trouble sometimes... I bet Renzo threatened him too!

    1. Didn't look like a lot and didn't seem to make much of a difference, he got the takedown, he got mount, he failed to finish the fight because of Andersons grip.
    2. The short grabbing is a tactic which Chael and the majority of grapplers have used to frustrate limit their opponents movement, Chael understands fighting dirty, you fight dirty with a dirty fighter.
    3. The knee was not illegal because it was aimed at the chest, regardless of if a part of his leg hit his face. Check the replay.

    Well ironically, Renzo didn't call Chael to cuss him out. He says this on a phone interview with Ariel. He called Chael to let him know that he's a tough and great fighter, but he needs to focus on training (hence Silva said this as well) rather than talking smack. He told him to keep his eyes on the prize and if he really puts the effort and motivation, that he's confident that Chael would get the belt. He also mentions his thoughts after the fight and how disappointed he was in Chael.

    I believe if they meet again Chael has a great chance of winning, he destroyed sylva in the last fight, he just got careless, sylva did win in the end but he lost 90 % of the rest of the fight, it for sure looked like he could not handle Chael. a rematch would be a big seller I think even if Cheal lost those two fights, Jones would also be a good fight for sylva.

    chuck vs ortiz, shamrock vs ortiz. if chael keeps up the hype they will fight again, i honestly think chael has the best chance to dethrone silva at the minute because he is a bad match up for anderson, anderson however is an absolute legend and dominating champion, i think the intrest is there as silva fans want to see him shut up chael for good and the chael fans want to see him lift the title. just my opinion i have massive respect for all fighters.

    I misunderstood, thought you meant Fedor stood with K1 elite which he only did with Cro cop. Coleman was really overrated. Barnett was still considered a UFC champ failing a drug test. Do you not know why Pride folded? There certainly were some fixed fights. Off the top of my head a clear one was Cro Cop against that masked Japanese wrestler. Gary Goodridge said in his book there were plenty of fixed fights, he was offered a few times himself to take a fall.

    If you look at it in every area Jones has the adv. Standing: Jones with his striking and reach. Wrestling: Jones. Though Chael is an Olympic alternate, Jones Greco Roman wrestling is the style best suited toward the UFC. Also, Jones size will pose a problem for Chael. On the ground: Jones. He is just so devasting on the ground. Chael has never fought a fighter like Jon. It might be closer than everyone likes to think. But I think Jones has his number now that he knows Chaels fighting style.
