    Amazing video! I love my Beetle. Volkswagen owns Porsche the company. So when someone says it’s the poor mans Porsche it’s kinda true. Same quality without the price tag.

    i've had a lot of different cars over the years, but my 2014 VW Beetle was the best car I've ever owned.. it literally had a soul..

    I've owned a 2014 VW Beetle and I've owned 2013 VW Beetle and I now own a 2018 VW Beetle. If you get an RCD330 radio it is an OEM radio that will fit into a 2012 to 2019 VW Beetle and will add Apple CarPlay and is compatible with a rear view camera but you have to get the model ending in 187B or 187F so that you get the best one.

    I have a 2012 Base Model. 5 speed manual. Currently 203,000 miles. Oil changed regularly, Mobil 1. Only 2 issues. Head gasket replaced, MAP sensor replaced twice. All fixes done by me. Driven in snow, handles well. When the weather causes ice the windows get tricky to get in car. Spray bottle diluted with alcohol and weather helps plenty to lower the window.

      Same here! An ‘18 S with 68k miles. Nothing wrong I did switch to audi RS8 plugs and coils and it woke the car up a little. I’m about to do an oil change.

  • @lukeheffernan

    The knob sunroof thing works on some VW but the Beetle has a sloping roof so the sunroof can't really open fully. I hope that helps!

  • @therealCodyCapps
    @therealCodyCapps 3 года назад +9

    I have an ‘18 beetle with 68k miles. Keep good synthetic oil and use Exxon Mobil or shell gas. These VW’s are picky! I don’t know what engine you have but, if it’s the 1.8t then you should definitely keep good a synthetic oil. The engine in my ‘18 is starting to loosen up tolerances and in this Florida heat. My plan is to switch to a 5w-30 liquimoly 4200 with a Mann filter. You’re car is probably within the vw505 spec and I do recommend the liquimoly. I don’t know if this is a common thing with other beetles of the same year but! When I pulled my spark plugs I had a considerable amount of pre detonation on my plugs. When I switched to the Audi RS8 plugs and coils. The car acted and responded better. They detune these cars so much. The RS8 plugs were a range colder than factory so any sort of pre detonation would be factored out. I don’t expect you to know all of this but I do enjoy teaching people these things so they don’t get the bad end of the stick.

    If you lock the car and then go to unlock the car via the door handle( hold the door unlock with the hand in the handle) hold it and it will roll down the windows and open the sunroof. And the just hold lock ( via the door handle) and it will close all the windows and close the sunroof!!

      I also would like to know this. I’ve heard that the older versions aren’t as reliable so I am planning on getting a 2016-2018 (one of the newer models) so that it’s less likely to have any problems. but I’m still not 100% sure if the newer models are reliable

    Also, the reason your car locked is probably because you had the spare key with you right outside of your car until you went to try going in without the spare! Just a guess but I know this feature works in my Jetta.
