Copper IUD was a life saver! You might have heavier periods BEWARE but aside from that and more cramping it is great. I took the pill for 4 years and I experienced excruciating migraines and some mild weight gain. (Like 10 lbs) I’ll take cramps and heavier bleeding than the pill any day. It was worth it and no reminders of taking a pill everyday. 10/10 recommend. Here’s my Insertion note: take ibuprofen beforehand. Stay still and don’t freak out when they put it in. The biggest piece of advice is stay calm. It will feel uncomfortable and possibly some pain for a millisecond. Don’t let it turn you away, it is worth it! Let it settle. Your first period is going to feel weird but after that it will get better.
I have been having heavy periods with the copper coil and bad cramps for 2 years now, besides I get pain during sex. This can work for some but definitely not for all. I've only left it in because I am not keen on the idea to have extra hormones in my body. Especially because I was on the pill for many years before. The doctor however suggested that I should consider the IUS instead.
Just wanted to put out a more positive review for those curious about IUD's, before getting my copper IUD, I would terrify myself so much reading all the horrific reviews online, so I think it is's important to also give opposing examples. My experience with the insertion was completely fine, no pain whatsoever, and I didn't have any anaesthetic, it was just a slightly odd feeling. It really helped me to have someone there with me to talk to, and I also took naproxen 30 minutes before hand which I think really numbed a lot of it. It also of course can depend on your gyno, my doctor was brilliant and calm and talked me through it. Another tip is to make sure you relax your muscles, this will only make the process easier, quicker and less painful. And Breath!!!! I'd say the worst part was afterwards, as obviously you are going to experience discomfort and cramping, after all you are having a foreign object inserted into you. But make sure you stock up on painkillers, I'd suggest naproxen as it really numbs it all. Give it a chance to settle, be easy on yourself, and it 'should' go away after a week or two. I had mine put in just over a month ago, so it hasn't settled long enough for me to say anything about it long-term, but whilst I still experience mild cramping every so often, I haven't had any other issues, have had a period which was fairly heavy and painful, but that's to be expected. And I haven't got pregnant, and I hope it stays that way! The positives definitely outweigh the negatives for me, and I would do it 100 times over!
@@charlie-rosefortin3998 hi! The pain I had from horrendous cramps constantly made it way too painful for me to put up with any longer and I had to get it removed:( but I’m sure it’s different for everyone. Good luck!
Also using naproxen was my biggest regret also as it’s such a strong painkiller that it caused me a lot of stomach issues and thinned my stomach lining, gave me gastrointestinal problems and as a result had to take even more medication and have a diet change to heal my stomach
I got my IUD today. I got the Kyleena since I haven't given birth! I took 800 mg of ibuprofen before hand and ate a light meal as well. It's definitely not a pleasant experience, however I didn't find it to be as bad as many other people experience. I jumped when the IUD was placed! It felt like a sudden period cramp. She needed to measure me twice because of that jump. I had bad cramps for about an hour after but now I'm doing great. I hope this can help.
Kira Tuba I tried to get the iud in with two separate appointments. The doctor was having a very difficult time trying to insert it, even after i took cervix dilators. The doctor said I probably have an abnormally shaped uterus and that’s why it wouldn’t go in. So bummed out bc I really wanted the iud 😫
Sarah Swood I’m sorry to hear that :( My doctor told me if she wasn’t able to get it in that she would refer me to somebody else. I really hope you can find something that works for you!
Kira Tuba I got the iud! Long story short, my cervix is just super tight and rock hard, nothing wrong with my uterus. Took a double dose of cervix dilators, and boom it’s in! The pain only lasted 30 seconds and it felt like an extremely intense period cramp. But afterward it felt just like regular period cramps. It’s so worth it for 5 years of protection!
I had the copper IUD inserted 3 months ago. It was the most painful 1 minute of my life. Experienced cramping, light headedness for a few days, and spotting for a few weeks. I'm extremely fortunate that my periods last only about 4 days with no cramping, I was terrified that this would all change as heavy periods and intense cramping is the most common side effect. However, my periods have been quite normal, slightly heavier and lasting 1-2 days longer but no cramping. The gyno told me this just means that my body adjusted to the IUD quickly.
Im considering copper IUD bcs the injections messed me up in a big way. I always had excruciating headaches, depression, yeast infection, my vagina is dry and painful sexual experiences. I stopped taking the injection and everything went back to normal but im still dry 😭😭😭 and it seems to be irreversible. The good thing it hasn't affected my fertility and my periods are back to normal. Hopefully the copper IUD will help. But why do we have to suffer this much? Contraceptives sucks

Before, I was so nervous about this appointment that it caused me stress and my period was 5 days late because of it. But everything went perfectly well and the female doctor I had was so sweet and nice and she was very gentle of checking my area. It literally was like 10 minutes I was in the room for the exam and I didn’t think it be that quick. I was so nervous for nothing. After my exam, the doctor showed me many different types of birth controls and she mostly suggested me the IUDs. I had to think about it and now I’ve decided to take an IUD. My fiancé and I do want to be parents someday, but I wanna have the IUD in me for at least a couple years until we’re ready for a baby. Growing up, I’ve always said that I want to have my first child at 23 years old cuz that’s the same age my mom was when she had my older brother. But my dad considered that I’d wait a few years for that to happen. So that’s what I’m gonna do. Depends on your insurance. Some insurances doesn’t cover the cost which runs around $2,300 and most doctors want to have an ultrasound done additionally to make sure the IUD is in the right place. Some hospitals offer grants to help cover the IUD and insertion but do not cover the ultrasound which is around $240

Biology student here. Yes it's completely safe to use provided your sexual partner doesn't have STD since these can't prevent them. If you have multiple partners, usage of condom is heavily recommended. Copper IUD become effective right away that is you can have unprotected coitus the next day however they can cause heavier bleeding during periods which generally lessen over time. Hormonal IUD on the other hand takes 4 to 7 days to become effective and cause irregular periods at the start and later might even stop periods all together which some women consider as an added benefit. The reason for this is that Hormonal IUD release progesterone hormone which is responsible for holding of the endometrial lining of the uterus. TLDR; If you're assured that you and your partner doesn't have any type of VD, then IUD is one of the best contraceptive method with a success rate of over 99%.
I am unmarried and have copper one.( And no children.) I have heard for women that have not had children it is more painful to insert but I can't say from my experience. But peace of mind is worth it to me.
It’s great 10/10 recommend. Best birth control on the market, and most effective next to abstinence. I haven’t had kids and insertion was uncomfortable but not unbearable.
I know a friend who is also an IUD user. It's been over a month now. She is having weird experiences which are actually scaring me now. For the past few days, she is having swear cramps. Also, brownish discharge from her vagina. She had really bad crams during her last periods. She is 100% sure she is not pregnant as she didn't have sex. What are these signs for?
@@killtheego710 birth control does not increase the rate at which fertilised eggs are expelled before implantation. It occurs far more in women who are not on birth control.
jay S condoms are abortion too if we’re gonna go by that logic. If you were a woman wouldn’t you want to enjoy sex without having to worry about getting pregnant? Please gtfo with that ignorance. You could say periods are a form of abortion and that’s a natural process in the female body when an egg is not fertilized. Being a woman is pretty complicated and if guys screw up they can just leave, women have to bear the consequences of every action they take, so birth control is very important. An IUD Blocks the sperm from getting in. The copper IUD kills the sperm on the spot so no fertilization occurs. The hormonal IUD thickens the mucus. Both block the sperm from getting in. The added bonus of the hormonal is some women don’t get their periods. You don’t have to put much thought in aside from wrapping it up. Please understand that there’s a lot more of a permanent consequence for women when we want to do these things. Try to understand from a woman’s perspective, the things you do in life you take for granted is a permanent consequence for women.
jay S dude this is pure projection you went onto a page about women’s birth control, it has nothing to do with you but here you are saying all these things that aren’t true about it. Stfu and stop being a troll.

You get lower back pain for the first 3-6 months too. I couldn't sneeze without crying for a few months
That's not for everyone ma'am stop scaring people
You should’ve went back to the the doctor that’s not right
had mine fitted today took some ibuprofen and paracetamol before and had some food and honestly i didn’t feel a thing, the speculum was probably the most uncomfortable part, had a few cramps afterwards but nothing that required pain relief and only a little spotting, i got myself worked up beforehand as i heard so many horror stories but for me it was absolutely fine, had my smear before the iud was fitted aswell and honestly that was more uncomfortable
Did you spot in the first month?
@@kadeidrablack4880 no i didn’t spot but iv only had a two week break between periods but my doctor said that’s normal for the first 6 months as i had the copper coil

I just got my first ever IUD inserted on Nov 18, 2022.
My appointment was at 1pm. I left at 4:30/4:45pm.
Think of it as the worst cramp you’ve ever had x10.
I got the non-hormonal one that lasts 10 years.
The doctor had me stay after because I went pale and was getting dizzy.
After 45 mins-and using the bathroom and getting crackers and iced water in my system. I was back to normal.
Since the 18th, I’ve been having heavy spotting, granted my period is supposed to start on the 23rd-so tomorrow. I’ll update.
updates?

Can anyone here with experience or anyone that knows about the IUD say that the IUD is really safe and effective and i should not get nervious my partner have the IUD. But im still nervious. 😔
I've had mine for 6 years and have been fine. Not going to lie, it hurts getting it inserted and every few cycles I have almost labour pain cramps, but it's still the best option for me.
Please read about the faults with the Mirena IUD before it is forced into you. There are a lot of law suits in the USA against the makers of this device and the company has already paid out $12 million in compensation.
Am missing my uid for 3 days, I do not feel the thread, what to do? Please help
Go to the doctors
The strings most likely just tucked up inside the cervix.. I'm sure it's fine.
How long does it take to be effective I heard 3 to 7 days or is it instant. We wouldn't want to slip on black ice now would we?
My srtings of IUD is missing, says the health centre.what must I do
You need to go back so they check for it and replace as necessary

I wonder if a copper iud could effect your body causing auto immune problems. I think you can keep them up to ten years in?

Can I get it removed earlier if I want to or do I have to wait the full 3/5 years?

What if the tread are hanging out
thats it ?
I want to look into the copper one what was the pricing you thing?
Depends on your insurance. Some insurances doesn’t cover the cost which runs around $2,300 and most doctors want to have an ultrasound done additionally to make sure the IUD is in the right place. Some hospitals offer grants to help cover the IUD and insertion but do not cover the ultrasound which is around $240
60 euros in Belgium plus 2 or 3 consultation fees
In Italy,I do it for €150 not including the device.
Thank you
im getting the Kyleena IUS soon! if anyone has had it, plz reply

Yes it hurts the worst part is when they are putting it in I was screaming like hell I will tell you not to do it because you will be in pain till now I am in pain and yes you can feel like you will be so down for 7 days and if you and your boyfriend are going to have sex you have to use something to protect you for the next 7 days so you don’t get infection and you have to be careful when having sex because it can move when it comes you will be the one in pain

Yes is painful
Someone answer me please I my coil the the last 2 month I my periods are late
Mannn that shit hurt when I got it done the first time on God I had the hormonal IUD
I got mine in about 3 weeks ago, i had to take pills and put them in my vagina thing to make it more stretchy cause i havent had a child yet🤪 anyways i got them in and the doctor didnt tell me about the side effects and they were these “you may have cramps, like youre giving birth or having a miscarriage, the period might also start.” And more but i had those for 5 hours before i went to the hospital again to get me checked and more painkillers. The day after i went back to the hospital to get the uid in and it hurt but i had been crying all night so i got used to more pain and all my tears were out so i didnt cry. I had a bad experience with it but its okay now, im happy with it in and yes i get pain in my back but im happy. And its definitely worth it i think.
I would advise against this, I know two women who had this and they both had to have hysterectomies later in life. I'm not a doctor tho.

see medical advice ASAP to check why
It's not normal. Go and ask a doctor.
Yes it fine. They say you might not have periods at all
It's good
Is it safe for unmarried girl ( teenager)
@@sinister2423 hi, condom shld be used when IUD is inserted and you have a single sexual partner?
@@indianbyheart705 If your partner or you don't have STI, then you can have unprotected sex.

The brownish discharge is old blood 🩸 and the cramps are pretty normal

I was thinking about getting the copper one but it's a deal breaker if it kills offspring that are already conceived / just not yet attached. 😫😫😫😫😫
Any other contraceptive you have in mind?
Just dont have sex for a week before and do a pregnancy test, you will be fine

@@killtheego710 birth control does not increase the rate at which fertilised eggs are expelled before implantation. It occurs far more in women who are not on birth control.

its stop pregnancy implanting if fertilization happens which means it is a form of abortion.
theirs no pregnancy if theirs no implantation so no its not a form of abortion
@@st0ne.0c3an fertilizatin already occurs its already a living human cell
jay S condoms are abortion too if we’re gonna go by that logic.
@@beans9019 condom is not abortion because fertilization hast occurred yet. if you insist the ignorance term . you are rank 1 in it.
