    The past few shows Gary has been matching a lot! Quite a difference between past first chair celebrities!

    H/H match update:
    ...
    ~~~Today's action:
    Mary gave the champion a "Chicken" and her fourth victory.
    *Today's audience match question: "Plan________"*
    (My thoughts: B, Nine From Outer Space, Ahead)
    The celebs: Richard via Joyce (-ned Parenthood), Brett (Ahead), Gary (A)
    The choice: -ned Parenthood
    The answers: -ned Parenthood, B, Ahead
    Our champion has picked Richard on all of her three prior attempts (they matched once), and I can't imagine her choosing anyone else now.
    Yes, it's King Richard again, and for the *700th time!*
    Yes, this is the 700th time we've seen Richard answer a head-to-head question! (He undoubtedly answered some in the missing/unavailable episodes, but still, this is quite a milestone!). This is also his 17th consecutive time answering the head-to-head question. He's matched six of those 17 times so far.
    Stats: Richard has matched 93 of his 222 most recent attempts (41.9%), 76 of his last 179 attempts (42.5%), 32 of his last 82 attempts (39.0%), and 13 of his last 38 attempts (34.2%). His overall success rate is *41.6%* and this is his 700th attempt so far.
    For the sake of comparison: Joyce has matched 3 of her 4 attempts (75%), Charles has matched 33 of his 69 attempts (47.8%), Brett has matched 30 of her 70 attempts (42.9%), and Richard has matched 291 of his 699 attempts (41.6%). Mary Wickes and Gary Crosby haven't answered any H/H questions yet.
    *Today's H/H question: "________City"*
    (A lot of possibilities. What's the most obvious? New York City? Life in the Big City? Emerald City? Even though this show is taped on the West Coast, I'm going to say New York City.)
    Richard is writing what seems a longish answer. He glances at Mary and pauses briefly before filing it.
    Our champion gives an LA-centric answer: "Century City." The audience disagrees with her choice. But it's still a valid answer, and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that Richard might have the same thought. Does he?
    Oh, no. I'm still doing better at matching Richard than the contestants. He wrote "New York."
    No H/H match today.
    ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy:
    (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.)
    (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.)
    Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts).
    Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts).
    Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts).
    Fannie - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts).
    Charles - 47.8% (33 wins in 69 attempts).
    Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts).
    Brett - 42.9% (30 wins in 70 attempts).
    Richard - 41.6% (291 wins in 700 attempts).
    Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts).
    *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1053, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)

    I thought of Plan B. We say Plan B because we don't really name or letter our plans. It's just a way of saying, my first attempt didn't work, so I'll try again with a different method.

      I agree. That question felt more like a round one question. My first thought was Miss Kitty's "back" which wouldn't have matched "body." But then all the bed/sheets answers were good too.

    Gary Crosby. His dad is Bing Crosby right. Am I right. Anyone know

      In the last episode Brett asks Gary if he gambles and he says no because of watching his dad do it. Then Mary mentioned how great his dad was and Gary made a comment like "I wish somebody would show me that" or something like that. I couldn't hear him well. Bing died in October 77, around the time this would be aired. Then the abuse allegations came out.

      Because he was tired. He was doing Match Game and Family Feud every day. Match Game would not let him out of his contract. So the guy wasn't getting a lot of rest. That's why he was looking so run down and was getting bags under his eyes.

    • @LynxSouth

      @@deboragustin9980 He was not doing Match Game and Family Feud every day. Match Game taped every other weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, six half-hour shows each day, 3 before lunch and 3 after. I don't know Family Feud's precise schedule, but it still tapes several shows on one day. If it was like Match Game, that's another 4 days a month. Hardly a killer schedule.
      I also don't believe Match Game was that stubborn about not letting him out of his contract, as he got out of it fast enough after the Star Wheel was brought on, just a couple weeks after a new season had begun.
      Family Feud and Match Game were both Goodson-Todman productions, so I doubt very much that they'd have stood by and let two of their creations suffer if Richard were seriously overworked. How anyone could possibly be considered overworked at 8 or 9 days a month is beyond me.

      Literally for like 2 months know, right after I seen who won, I would FF though the supematch. And I would stop it just long enough to see if they was going to pick saint Richard, when they did, I'll FF though the head to head, and stop it just long enough to see saint Richard lose.
      He loses like ALL the time. I LOVE it :)
