Hi Rebecca. That is a good question, so I tried it and the only way I got the music off the hard drive. I had to remove the hard drive and connect it to my computer. This was the only way I could get any of the files. I don't know if there is a easier way. But if I find a easier way, I will do a video on it.
Hey 😀 so when you viewed the hard drive on your pc how were the audio files saved? Was it plainly viewable? Thank you for sharing all your found information.
EZ peasy on our old RAM. Now, 2025 Dodge Ram doesn’t have CD drive. Could download to thumb drive and insert in USB port in truck but … also no CD drive on MAC. Suggestions??
Hi Jason. I just got a 2017 grand caravan, after driving a 2003 for 20 years! I have no idea how to use the "uconnect" I appreciate the videos you have here, but is there an online manual or any guidance you can offer this old fashioned gal? Thanks!
Any idea what format to save MP3s on the USB so that the Artist and Album name show once loaded? I just end up with [song name].mp3 for the each song, it loses all the info that goes with the song despite it being attached to file. I seem to remember you may have to save them in folders and sub-folders so kind of like Dire Straits/Brother in Arms/Brothers in Arms.mp3 with Artist/Album/song.mp3 but even that is no longer working these days.
The way I do it is, I created a folder then I upload my music to it and it shows Artist and title. The only thing I can think of is the software version you have.
How do you add or name a folder to transfer music to? Does it automatically give it a name when you add music files to the HDD? I saw there was a button to rename HDD folder.
2:27 - for some reason, when I plug my USB in with my phone, it can't seem to recognize that anything is in the Front USB. All I was trying to do was add music that's on my phone into the HDD, but it isn't working. Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
Tryed this with my 2012 dodge ram and an usb stick but i could not get it to work. Got the message "no files to copy" or something like that. Ive got a new usb stick with about 50 mp3 files. The volume on the AUX is very low in comparasion with the already downloaded songs.
Hello everyone, I have added a couple of CD's to my HDD system in my 2016 Dodge Caravan. My question is does anybody know how to make individual music files so I can select a folder and play a particular artist instead of all my downloaded music in one file?
I have tried to copy my songs from USP stick to my car but I couldn’t. It still telling me “Searching“ and when I press on “manage hard drive” there is not any numbers!! It only shows (-GB) so that i cannot know the Capacity or Used or Available storage space! What does this mean? And how can I fix this problem? Thanks a lot ❤️
Hit the media button - Then hit AUX - Then hit AUX again - now you will be able to play anything on your phone. But make sure your phone is paired to your Uconnect. If you are still having problems, let me know and I will do a video on it.
@JasonTech ok I will try it, but if I remember right, the aux is grayed out unless something is plugged in the aux. When i have it connected to my phone it only comes up with calls only. Been trying to figure out why it doesnt stream music 🤦🏽♂️. Maybe I have the wrong bluetooth module?
Thank you so much for helping us...is a great video for all the support you need...really appreciate it😃
Thank you!
Okay , good video, what i like you to show us is how to play the music weve added ..
Any idea on how to retrieve the music from my UConnect Hard drive? I'm planning to sell the vehicle but would like to get the music off first.

@@JasonTech Thanks for the reply. I think you're right. Mine's a 2012 so it seems pretty clunky compared to what's out there now.
Can you load more than one CD to the hard drive or does it just overwrite the existing one on the hard drive?
Yes you can, just create a folder for each CD.
How do you add or name a folder to transfer music to? Does it automatically give it a name when you add music files to the HDD? I saw there was a button to rename HDD folder.

Hello, any ideas how to keep songs playing in numerical order and not alphabetical?
You have to add the number in front before adding it to the uconnect.
Is there a way to copy music from a linked iphone to the hdd and if so how?

@@JasonTech What a way to let go of the car and Music library too,,,
What format must the songs be to add from usb?

@JasonTech it didn't work for me. Idk. Maybe my usb wasn't in the proper format. What should the usb stick be formatted to? I think mine is fat32.
Question, Which USB are you using, the one on the Uconnect?
@@JasonTech the port on the front of the Deck.

Hi. Question: is the USB formatted in FAT32?
What if the songs are not in a folder is there another way to deleted as they play
You can't remove it as it plays. Sorry this is the only way that I know of, to remove a song/folder.
Me podrias ayudar, no puedes reproducir musica. Directamente desde el usb sin tener que copiar las canciones ?
How do you take music files from HDD to Usb drive?
You can't, the only way is to remove the hard drive and connect it to a computer.

Hi, Did you find a way to extract music from Uconnect without deleting it first??
Many thanks!
I tried with no luck. Uconnect told me to remove the hard drive and connect it to a computer to extract anything on it.
@@JasonTech Okay. Thank you!
OBD jscan app has an option to backup Hard drive
Thank you for this! I'm curious is this app free or would I have to purchase it to access this feature?
