Great discussions but a single caveat if you don't mind. Mahoraga (Ma - Ho - Raga) destructive force would end the moment Haruta died. Considering Ma-Ho-Raga is strong enough to kill a Six Eye & Infinity wielder like Gojo's Ancestor, I believe Megumi thought it would be over quickly. I don't think he considered Sukuna to show up and interrupt the Ritual before Haruta died. I think Megumi was apologizing to Yuji because he wouldn't be able to stop Sukuna and save his friend or at least prevent the destruction Sukuna is causing. From Episode 1-2, Megumi was willing to die to stop Sukuna and put his trust in Yuji as long as Yuji trusted that Megumi would be there stop Sukuna for Yuji.
As a manga reader they did this justice the manga didn’t show the transitions between his dream world and reality the anime really made this 100 times better and music 10/10
I always viewed it as Mahito, Hanami, Dagon & Jogo are all born from humans hate of ____(fill in blank). I think it's technically all negative emotions a human can feel.

You're right, It isn't limited to only hate. Mahito is the only one that was born strictly by the hatred humans have for each other
