Also planning the day is the best thing you can do. Plan where you’re going to trip, activities (board games, music, movies) and the people who ur going to do it with (definitely your best friends, partner, or family, people u absolutely trust and wouldnt judge you if u start acting a lil goofy) major key is to feel safe so provide and plan those things when your sober so ur high self can safely relax and enjoy.

@@sethbolin5145 also smoking Salvia is notttt the correct way to do that, really your supposed to chew on leaves. But yeah not the best frame of reference for how psychedelics are besides maybe dmt but that's much more manageable than Salvia. I would try a small dose of mushrooms if you are weary of it for you're first time like a gram to 2 grams max. Personally my favorite dose was 3.5 grams to get the best visuals and body high without it being overly intense. But you have to be in the right frame of mind, in a good setting around people you trust. I would definitely also have a sober person there to keep you grounded to reality if needed, and maybe not smoke any bud ,if you do, for the first time. But the best advice is to just be chill don't over analyze the situation and go into it with a clear head.

I don't compromise in that, never have, never will. It's my mental health that's on the line, I don't take chances with that, which is why it's indeed such a big deal. And it's indeed a very good feeling to have a select group of people with whom you are completely comfortable while tripping and with such a group, what happens in the trip stays in the trip as well, you never need to worry about stories of those experiences spreading. Once you surrender and accept the idea that everything is going to be okay (because it very likely will be!) you'll have an absolute whale of a time. Low doses can still be extremely enjoyable too. Perception and perspective shift profoundly, both inwardly and outwardly. One's view of the self as well as the world around them shift unexpectedly , as well as their place in the world. Environment (setting) is so very important, especially on someone's first experience as these shifts can be traumatic, which triggers (adrenaline) panic, which escalates things further. It can be utterly terrifying to suddenly call into question not only those around, but your own ability to discern your sensory input. In an ideal setting, those around you should be as anchors or tethers, lighthouses in a storm. You would want to be around people you genuinely trust and take comfort around. As for mindset- I always tried to impart the true understanding that this was a temporary state and would pass. Seems simple, but often people go in wholly unprepared, thinking this was a fun-party thing they'd go along with, or much worse someone who was dosed without limited or no consent. In my opinion any psychedelic should be respected and users should be prepared to embrace the suck as well as the positive. It should be an expansive experience, not a constrictive/claustrophobic one, and the difference between the two is as simple as one's preconceived expectations.

I tried to manipulate the experience to a more positive vibe for everyone by talking about how awesome a cheeseburger or some food would be when we got home, or some crap like that, and it really just led to a faster spiral because I was hyper-aware of my own deceptive practices and the dark feelings that were inciting them.

Absolutely. Becoming aware of your own, or other people's, fear based deceptive practices starts becoming almost torturous to endure while tripping. Even ones that would be seen as totally benign while sober. They can drive you crazy. Absolutely adds to the spiral if things are going south. Even when tripping by myself, if I start sensing that drift into shadow territory and decide that I'm going to distract myself or try and control my awareness of it, it just gets bigger and darker. A "happy" song or video I used to distract myself would end up seeming sinister and only made me feel worse.
While you shouldn't "provoke" a bad trip or try to think about upsetting things just to "test" yourself. When difficult things come to the surface of their own accord, you have to look it right in the eye and move towards it. Forward is the only way to get through it. You aren't always in control of the material, just your reaction to it.

@@amphibeingmcshpongletron5026 Yep, exactly right. And what's really interesting, I think, is that all of these things are also true in everyday waking life, but it's just that psychedlics amplify these dynamics and make the consequences extremely dire in the moment.
For a while after my bad shroom trip, I would feel like I was "flashing back" or getting "trippy" feelings any time I was put in a stressful situation or going down a dark mental spiral, and I thought the trip had permanently twisted my mind or something. But after a long time I realized that certain things had always been going on in my mind, and occur in everyone's minds, and it was just that the trip had really put them in my face and made me learn some things about the mechanics of experiencing and dealing with emotions in general.

Anxious controlling people are annoying even when sober, no healthy adult really wants to be told what / how / when to do things...especially not based on somebodies else's irrational anxiety. Psychedelics simply lower _other_ peoples tolerance for it, either sending them into the same dark / anxious state or a very annoyed state.
I always end up in the latter..because I'm usually just cruising(never had a really bad trip except when i tried this monster hit of DMT) and don't really wanna be bothered with things that actually require a lot of social intellect or get pulled out time and time again by other people freaking out. I can do it once or twice, maybe thrice, but after that I'm inclined to get irritated and either distance or close my self off. I rather be the sitter than see my trip wasted, so to speak.

It was a blast - until a mr random joe blog knocks on the door and is standing there with a 12 pack of beer and says "I heard you laughing so hard can I join the party?" I instantly went into cave man action mode and freaked out and started pacing up and down the hallway muttering something along the lines on how utterly important it is to get rid of this new person and thought our cave was under attack. There was one time I tripped on shrooms and felt fine in the first 30 minutes but out of nowhere this immense sense of silent panic and terror that hit me like a truck, and watching this video triggered a bit of that anxiety. That trip was a year ago, so bad trips definitely can absolutely have lasting negative effects on you. Top notch video as always.

It's very similar to my day to day experience. I think shamans and visionaries probably had the same issue. But in our society sees itt as a flaw instead of a blessing. Please please ignore all these comments talking about it healing your anxiety, listen to your gut, and do your research, be prepared. Your headspace is THE most important aspect of tripping. It is an experience I think everyone should have at least once, but DPDR is a thing that often triggers panic in me personally and I don’t know that I’d recover if I experienced that on psychs. I’ve had bad and good trips too, but this was in a much more clear mental state. I can NOT stress this enough. I had a similar experience on DMT, and it was spooky from the outset because it's like my mind KNEW it was going to be a rough trip. It even asked me "Are you sure? Really, you can back out now." It was more than anxiety, it was a verbal warning. I remember my response being a feeling of "Pshaw, I've had plenty of trips, don't be chicken."
Even though the trip was nightmarish, even though I felt like I was going to be hurled through actual, living, breathing HELL, I don't regret taking that third hit. Sometimes the thing we need most is a slap to the face, a reminder of who the fuck we are. These compounds deserve respect, maybe even a little bit of fear. It's like a tool, right? The moment you stop respecting that the tool can hurt you is the moment you're most vulnerable to being hurt. After that, you just have to hope that lapse in judgement won't maim you for life.

DUDE this movie does a great job at explaining an anxious trip and how easily it can go that way if you have trauma and/or tend to be an anxious person in general. My first time doing shrooms, I was actually told by my friend/coworker right after we sipped the tea that my coworkers were talking shit about me behind my back which affirmed my biggest fear of rejection and not being accepted/loved by everyone. All my life I tried so hard to be loved by everyone, I did what everyone wanted, I bought people things, I went out of my way to please everyone.. so needless to say once the shrooms kicked in, it got SO dark for me.. I can’t even begin to explain how terrifying it was. It was like having a panic attack and being trapped in a nightmare all at the same time. And the environment did not help at all. It was winter, cold af outside and it was in the evening so it was dark outside already. I was trapped in an apartment room which we were sharing with roomates that we did not get along with so they were staring at us awkwardly the entire time. I could hear everyones thoughts, I even tried watching the bachelor or smthng to distract myself but instead I could hear every single person’s thoughts on the show yelling “jealousy”, “fear”, “rejection”, Etcetc. Thoughts like that. Their eyes were getting big, the colors were weird which freaked me out even more. I felt so out of control and I was mad at my girlfriend even for having a fun time bcuz I Was SO so SO miserable. I felt like she didn’t even love me, I felt like nobody liked me. I was a failure and made everyone hate me.. towards the end of my seemingly endless trip, I curled up in a ball and cried for hours. Even the next day I felt depressed. Eventually i was better but I developed panic attacks that seemed to come out of the blue and even when I smoked weed, a similar unsettling feeling would take over me and it would trigger panic attacks. Sooo did I develop an anxiety disorder because of my trip? No. My family already has history of generalized anxiety. Mine just was triggered to begin after realizing certain things about my life that was in my unconscious mind before. Now I’m working on it. It’s been a year and I don’t think I will ever be using any drugs again bcuz I’m still so scared but I’m also thankful that I started my journey of healing before I am any older. It was meant to happen exactly the way it did.

Your body and mind needs to recognise shrooms as a positive substance again since atm you only have a traumatic memory of it. You need to slowly build up trust with the substance again. Also, I would reconmend you meditate daily and pick up stoic philosophy to lower your baseline level of anxiety. And last but not least, you don't have to do these substances, sending someone with too weak a frame of mind into a psychedelic trip is like sending a 4 year old with a wooden sword into a cage of lions. Respecting psychedelics means that you should come to the situation prepared, slightly terrified, yet confident. Confident enough that even if the trip is bad, you will be ok. If that's not you atm then that's ok. You will grow as a person over time, and who knows, maybe shrooms will cross your path again later in life. Good luck.

Yeah but don't, if you're mindset and personality is already anxious going into the trip, it'll just magnify what you're feeling. Set and setting has everything to do with your trip. If you're set up in your comfy room but have a confused mindset, or a lot of things on your mind, you're setting yourself up for a bad trip. It's ok not to do some things if you know it's not something you'd enjoy or have a good experience with.

i can relate to the severe anxiety, its bad all the time to the point i cant do normal things like walk without being aware of my posture and side profile and the pace. social anxiety is even worse, i cant be around anyone at all and i cant talk to people at all, without stuttering, looking away, answering in short and simple "yes, no", i have no friends because of this. i tried weed to make it better but it makes me feel even more anxious and aware of who i am since its makes you "relaxed" and "in ur head" these dont mix together at all. i tried lsd because of visuals and distortion and im here to tell you boy it is amazing, youre happy with what your seeing, your not in your head because everything ur seeing is beautiful and ur distracted, talking to people is easier because of visuals and hearing enhancement, colors are brighter and you feel real, i struggled with depression for years and one lsd trip changed my life forever, in a good way. shrooms are something similar but obviously slightly different, but youll get a good outcome as long as u do it in a comfortable setting first and have a calming and happy mood then when things kick in youll be good to go you just have to be careful in social settings that can throw you off like crying babies or fireworks, but as soon as your experienced youll be perfectly fine going out and about since you know what to expect and you will know how to control your emotions and everything around you. my point is, its a healing substance if you do it properly, but it can be hell if your not careful and do it completely wrong. "bad trips" can most definitely happen you just have to remain calm and remind yourself your just on a drug, try watching something that makes you happy, have a trip sitter if u can, but remember that not all "bad trips" are bad trips, most of the time its things youve pushed away internally and something you have to deal with but it's intensified and scary since its a substance, id take a bad trip as a learning opportunity, but as soon as ur taking the drug and you have even the tiniest bit of anxiety, dont.

My first psilocybin trip about 6 years ago or so? I had watched your videos to try to educate myself, as well as reading countless articles. I didn’t fully grasp that none of that could prepare me at all really.
I took them with my best friend at the time, and my girlfriend at the time.
I took what I now know is like, a “hero dose”? Of dried mushrooms
I accidentally looked at the clock on the wall on my come-up and thought, “how long is this going to go?” And I immediately thought “wait no don’t think about that”
I think I could’ve recovered from that mild panic, but I turned to my friend who had a blanket up to his nose and his eyes were HUGE, and he asked me; “Are you okay man?”
That triggered the FUCK out of me because like, “wait, shit, AM I okay?”
After a literal nightmare that I remember a surprising amount of, on the comedown I felt amazing when I could finally speak.
But I dealt with a heavy derealization for probably 2 years.
I drank tea about 2 years ago and had an amazing experience despite being thrust in a highly stressful situation, so there’s a happy ending.
