Miss these Gents....They were the golden age of comedy. Together they were the wall of comedy! Great friends that show a standing of comedic sense and respect to each other. One can only wish for something similar today. I have wishes !
They were also best friends in real life. I have this awesome photo of them at Burn's wife Gracie's funeral. Burns is so distraught that he's literally being held up by Benny on one side of him and his son Ronnie on the other.
@@retroguy9494 They were, indeed. George always made a joke that on stage, Jack was a great comedian, but off stage, he was pathetic. Mostly because Jack would laugh at anything, even the stupidest things in the world. George remembered once he noticed a piece of lint on Jack's jacket, and he reached for it saying something like "Oh, is THAT what they are wearing nowadays?" and promptly put the piece of lint on HIS lapel and wore it for the rest of the evening. Then, later, he returned it by messenger in a box wrapped with the fanciest and most expensive wrapping he could manage. George later got a call from Mary in which she drily noted, "That box with the piece of lint got here an hour ago, and he's still on the floor laughing. If he ever stops, I think I'm going to leave him." 🤣🤣🤣
@@retroguy9494 Exactly! And when Jack died Burns was supposed to give the main eulogy and when he got up he simply couldn't do it. He simply couldn't control himself and made it through maybe half a sentence before he had to be carried back to his seat he was sobbing so much.
RIP Jack Benny (February 14, 1894 - December 26, 1974), aged 80 And RIP George Burns (January 20, 1896 - March 9, 1996), aged 100 You both will be remembered as legends.
Burns wasnt appreciated fully until Gracies passing. George is now fully loved. Jack Benny of course was the biggest entertainer on all platforms with the best timing ever.
Gomer Pyle. As I'm sure you know, Dwight Eisenhower was a 5 star general who served as supreme commander of all the allied forces in Europe during World War II and then became president. Gomer Pyle was a TV show starring Jim Neighbors as a young Marine private who is bumbling, clumsy and always getting into trouble and driving his sergeant crazy. So the joke is that a couple of veteran comedians like Burns and Benny who were among the best in the business working for young still up and coming comedians like the Smothers Brothers would be like Eisenhower working for Gomer Pyle.
Hollywood is as good as having amoral convicted tax cheat Donald Trump as President, with the majority of folks who look like you eagerly willing to put him back in charge of the U.S. Treasury. Kinda stupid....you can't expect Hollywood to be any better than those you put in charge.

I will always love Jack Benny and George Burns. Still the greatest comedians ever.

@@retroguy9494 where can I find that photo????
Those two have a special place in my heart. They started before my time, but seeing them as a kid was always a treat! ❤
General Eisenhower working for Pyle! Lol
Brilliant flawless work and a lesson in comedic timing 👍🏻 Jack Benny is still, imo, the best comedian that ever was ..👍🏻
And ever will be . Unique
Happy Birthday in Heaven. George Burns 🎉❤❤❤
Classic comedians! I am so glad these clips are being made available. Thanks for posting these.
Jack Benny is such a ham! And the actor in the second bit is a great inspiration to be awkward and endearing. Love this clip. Thanks for sharing.
Yea, well, that whole 'ham' bit was actually a part of his act. In real life he was a good, kind and humble man.
RIP Jack Benny (February 14, 1894 - December 26, 1974), aged 80
And
RIP George Burns (January 20, 1896 - March 9, 1996), aged 100
You both will be remembered as legends.
Jack and Tommy were both Aquarians and they both died on the same date. December 26. 49 years apart.
Burns wasnt appreciated fully until Gracies passing. George is now fully loved. Jack Benny of course was the biggest entertainer on all platforms with the best timing ever.
Esther Ofarim also appeared in this episode. Any chance that her songs from her three episodes could be shown?
Eisenhower working under whom? Can you explain this?

Acme guild❤
We no longer have great stars or entertainers like these guys! Hollywood has become a joke.

American entertainment ...rarely uninteresting, and unwatchable 😅
