Very happy to see you got a TK4! These tractors have a dry clutch transmission and that steering stick doubles as a hand clutch. The mechanical drive clutch is hydraulically actuated. The transmission is similar to an old school dozer with steering clutches on each side. The first part of your steering stick side to side movement releases the steering clutch and the second part applies the brake on that side which is why the track stops at that point. This transmission is not a hydro, it’s fully mechanical which is why you feel that instant power versus a gradual start that a hydro would have. They’re offered with steel tracks and ROPS as well. Great tractors they’re one of my favorite from the blue brand!
Dry engine clutch but I was led to believe the steering clutches and brakes were now wet as the parts after the tk75 do not say they will fit my hesston-fiat 665cm
Hi Neil,
Many thanks for taking the time to show off this very unique tractor!
Awesome machine!
I feel like New Holland does not make junk. Anything they build is gonna be a beast
Tracked machines like this are great for working in wet areas. The extra weight is more than compensated for in the much lower psi under the tracks versus regular tires. This is a cool machine for its size. Most tracked machines I’m familiar with are huge, like in the 500 ish HP realm.
Mosty for stability and of couse we cant put water in the tryes for more weight, use it for ripping down kiwifruit rows(non cab one).if we didnt have the weights the nose likes to look at the sky :)
That's exactly what I was wondering about. I live in the California Delta where Caterpillar was born and the ground acts like jello all the way into July. I've gotten my 5075E stuck several times. I'm going to look into this machine for my jello pudding land.
What a cool wee unit. Reminds me of many years ago then I worked for my uncle driving a TD5 International "cat". That machine would pull a baler and wagon through anything in a wet fall. Prep seed ground in a catchy spring. It was basically just a do, all high traction, bazaar tractor. But with no cab and steel tracks it was beyond dusty and loud. What an awesome improvement this is. No mention of a price though🤔.
I would love to see this with a 3point mount Bushhogg behind it so I can see how much clearance there is between the ground and the cutter when raised up this would be a perfect fit for what I do
Mr.Neal you are a Great informer of equipment. You really elaborate & accurately describe a lot of aspects of the equipment in practical applications. ---Another great vidio, thank you & keep them comming.
Does it come with a front end loader like the old crawler tractors did? Nice machine!
No it does not.
If you want , it can come with it. You just need to ask for it and pay for it 😅
Awesome Tractor! Very unique. I would love to see this thing work.
What's old is new again. Cool little tractor.
Be kind of interesting to see what kind of other implements that can be used other than its intended uses. Your videos are the best in the world of tractors, keep up the good work.
Other implements it could run?
I mean it’s got an overbuilt drawbar, a heavy duty 3 point hitch with return to dig and auto lift, a 540 and 1000 rpm pto drive and a like a dozen hydraulic remotes with flow control or detents
What implement do you think it can’t run???
You may as well just say; implements are interesting.
👌
Wow, I don't think I've seen a tracked machine this size that wasn't a loader or a vintage crawler. It's kinda cute.
Doug DeMuro'd that introduction
Would be a perfect machine for mowing pipeline right of ways!
It might even be suitable for forestry work!
Love it, worthy successor to Fiat's that come from that factory before this,
the steering lever now is flash, its been called steering O Matic for ever, modulates the clutches then brakes
Interesting machine, great explanation/description.
‘Unique’ means, literally, ‘one of a kind’. So “pretty unique” and “really unique” become meaningless.
Air is cleaner up high. That's why the AC and cabin air filters are up high. Less dust.
Oh man, you totally started to channel Doug Demuro on the introduction of the machine. I was sooo hoping you were going to continue with his line about quirks and features!
As long as he doesn’t start doing that strange thing Doug does with his tongue when he talks... we’re good. 😂 👅 Doug “The Tongue” Demuro was coined a few years ago by the comment section. 😂
Sprinkling that in for guys like you that catch it :-)
Would love if New Holland or Messicks got Doug one of these to review
I thought I was imagining it
Super cool seeing these smaller tractors with tracks! I'm used to seeing only AGCO and Case with tracks
New holland is the same company as case...
@@christopherhowson7383 I never said Case and New Holland were the same, I’m just saying I still see more case quad-tracks around Lancaster then I do new Holland 🤣
That would be awesome for my batwing brush hog. I live in Mississippi and none of it is flat.
I feel like this specific steering step up on a wet hill side may cause problems. 2 sticks may offer alot more control.
Yeah, considering what it is made for I’m sure they didn’t bother to test it on any wet hills. 👌
@@jaxturner7288 we have to we use in kiwifruit in New Zealand, have not had an Issue on wet hills at all.Pulling fert spreader with 3-4 tons in it,its ok
@@redoerlord yeah I’m sorry I don’t know what the emoji is for sarcasm, or it would of been in my original comment.
I’m sure, besides you, before you, before anyone could even consider buying one, the manufacturer would of tested the setup in various conditions, atypical included.
@@jaxturner7288 ahh its all good,we mosty use it when wet in winter where tire tractors get stuck.he is rigth its heavy we have the same model on tires (have a fleet of 9 of them)and the tracked ones are nearly 1.9 tons heavyer and the steel tracked one we have coming will be heavyer still
also i dont know if you have the saying in the usa,but here it "climbs like a goat" haha
A Dozer met a tractor and their parents were not impressed. So they ran off, slowly, made love quickly, and came home with with this beautiful child.
Very interesting. Thanks Neil. 🇨🇦
Not exactly more like new holland said if we slap our name on a landini crawler, send it to north America we can double the price
Can you still have a loader? This would make a pretty neat compact crawler loader. I bet the capacity would be great with that extra 4000lbs of under carriage
Had a chance to use a few different fiat Agri crawler tractors as well as Same's great machines on the steep slopes, good to see a Cab finally on one, was my only complaint about them, it get hot here in Australia in summer
Makes you wonder if this would be any good for some forestry work if you put a winch mounted on it ??
Somehow I only see this as the perfect off-road toy that can also pull stuff
This is a cool machine.
What about using this for forestry work? Low impact on the forest floor. Does it take a winch skidding attachment?
I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of these out towing planters and such for the local veggie farmers.
Most snowmobile club trail groomers here in Ontario are modern medium sized tracked tractors, surprised Penn isn’t the same.
We don't get the snowfall here. You need to go 4-5 hours or more north.
Pretty bold on the part of NH. I know it's low and stable, but how is the ground pressure compared to wheeled machines? Kind of like the tire v. track skidsteer debate. NOt that I'm in the market, just curious.
Interesting machine. It looked like you were having too much fun to be at work.
That thing is sweet!!! Does it come with a drive over deck? LOL Great video as always
Neil your alright, I don’t care what Nate says about ya.
Wonder if you can put a small scraper pan on it.
Looks like a dozer. Would be interesting to have some pavement or turf type tracks. Maybe even non marking for special applications.
If it was power shift it could shift gears while moving.
They just don’t offer that transmission type with every tractor.
So does it come with a belly mower??
I can already see changes that need to be made. First is that joystick and floor mounted gear shifters. I would prefer to see that joystick on the left hand console like a compact track loader. The gearshifts integrated into the steering joystick.
Can I get a front loader or dozer blade? 😎
Dozer, Yes.
Cool tractor, always wanted to see review, how one of these operates compared to standard tractor
Wow! Must have a lot of TRACtion
Great video
I love to have that one. I have no use for it but I love to get it. Lol
Just talked my wife into letting me get a new truck I doubt she allow me to get another tractor. 🤩
Nice video those tractors look interesting. Have seen a number of older track tractors at antique machinery shows. Do they have a slop rating?
Boy Neil I want to buy one of those real bad its so cool but I live in the city and don't know what I would do with it. Still great video
Can you get one with a front 3 point hitch and PTO?
its so cute, I heard they had a limited production of Fiat red versions, I would buy one in a heartbeat if they brought the Fiat Red Power variant to North America
This is very neat but I question the steering system. Why not give it joysticks beside the seat like a dozer has. It would be alot more confortable.
When are you gonna cover the big guy behind you in the beginning of the video. That’s what I wanna see inside of.
Can the track tractor be configuration with a 3 point hitch , hydraulic connections , pto and a loader with auxiliary hydraulic connections on the front of track tractor
Yes to all, but no loader.
What hitch category are these machines?
Do you have any idea how many crawlers need to be replaced on flat muck soil?
Do they have other sizes and open stations.
Ok whats the price tag on one? I could see one of these used a snowmobile trail groomer. Right now clubs are sticking track kits on 4 wheel drive tractors.
Yeah, there is a reason they do that, the reason is the answer to your question.
This cost as much as 4 tractors with track kits and almost twice as much as an actual snowcat trail groomer.
@@jaxturner7288 over 250K?
You'd buy one of these under 100k. Converting a like sized traditional tractor with tracks would be 70-80k. Its more, but not 4x.
@@MessicksEquip more than that up here.
Been waiting for this review. Neil didn't mention they come with rubber or steel tracks. Also with or without a cab. For normal farm use these tractors are crazy expensive at about $100,000.
I be the steel track version would be a beast
Great vid.....very kool tractor....I am sure I need one...lol😉😄😎
My god i want one of these for the house in maine
Why is a tractor like this needed for a house?
@@kdegraa it would be great for the snow tras and its got freaking tracks
Front and rear attachments??
What price have that equipment?
With the amount of suitcase weights on the front, it must’ve been intended to lift something pretty heavy in the rear. Or would it just be for stability?
It's for even weight balance under full drawbar pull. If you look at dedicated JD, Challenger, and Fendt 2-tracks, the weight distribution is a LOT more front heavy. The entire engine hangs in front of the tracks.
Looks like with that short cab that a person would really have to watch getting in or out not to hit their head.
So it's a clutch/brake turn, vs a hydraulic planetary turn?
I've always thought of this tractor as if I when the lottery type of things, lol.
Can you put a front loader on it ?
Wait, you already sold this one?
Can you get front end loaders for these track tractors
Fiat/Hesston has been making these for a long time.
Well Fiat and New Holland are owned by the same people/corporation so that makes sense.
@@nickh7050 Yeah
What's the top speed
7:40 Like a fighter plane.
Can you do a video on the kubota M8?
when we get one
Thanks for sharing, Neil. That’s a cool machine. It would either “sink or swim” in my swamp. :) #purplecollarlife
That is totally cool
Very nice.
"TK421 Why aren't you at your post?"
I bet that tractor would pull trees out of the woods pretty well
Hey Neil, can I get a finish mower for that TK4? 😁👍
What’s the MSRP on this as it sits on your lot?
110k
@@MessicksEquip not terrible. What are the limitations for PTO attachments if any?
@@John1911 mostly the lift height that I pointed out.
Is it possible to spec one of these with a loader?
After seeing that steering control, it's pretty obvious you wouldn't want a loader on this machine. There are powerful hydrostatic machines, including many bulldozers, some of which use gear drive with hydrostatic adder/subtractor steering. You can tell it's not hydrostatic because the steering is not smooth. It looks like brake, clutch, or brake+clutch steering.
If equipped with a dozer blade, how would it compare to a smaller dozer?
It is a small dozer just was not ordered with the blade set up . This one was set up for ag use.We sold several one with a 6 way dozer blade at the newholland dealer i worked for in ny state.
I would guess the speed difference is entirely the difference in diameter of the back tire vs the track wheel. Having left the transmission gearing the same. Although one of them, front or back, must have changed to keep all the wheels going the same speed.
Tracks typically only drive from one end, like a 2wd drive train rather than like a 4wd
@@davidkottman3440 Good point, you are right. I don't think any are due to the unnecessary expense of the second gear box and the complications it would cause getting them perfectly synchronized
Why are these generally not better than traditional tractors? The traction would enable it to act as a bulldozer plus all the other implements. With a light ppsf it seems to be better overall. It doesn’t have a front loader but I suspect you can get one.
How much price in indian money....
Interesting. It looks like a dozer
Eccellente 😱
How much does it actually weigh
11000 from memory
What a box blade machine
Can you get this with a front hitch and pto
No that i've seen. There would likely be some geometry problems too.
@@MessicksEquip was thinking with a front mount flail mower it would be a good slope mower
Why not put a steering wheel like the yanmar
Great to see the blue tractors for a change.
Neil what location is that tk4.100 at?
Elizabethtown
It would be nice if it had front mount features like a skid loader.... Can you get it with front mounts and attachments?
Just a dozer blade
@@MessicksEquip Bummer... maybe someone should mention this to Kubota.
I'd still like to see a loader for this we looked at this unit probably a year ago and the loader was not an option and that's really the only thing that's missing with the quad hydraulics in the back
A crawler tractor never seen one of those well I’ve seen challengers but not new holland
Kind of disappointed in the general setup: non-standard height 3-point, no 1000rpm on pto (don't know why any new tractors are sold without 540/1000), no loader option but they have a bunch of dead weights up there.
What do you need a 1000 pto for?
@@adamfpv8294 flail mowers, pumps, etc plenty of 1000rpm devices out there.
540rpm is really slow and high torque, its OK for sub 30hp and low speed devices but professional equipment is moving toward 1000 as the reduced torque is a real benefit in gearbox design, and because you aren't reducing the engine rpm way down then boosting it back up in the implement there is a big savings in power losses.
540 came in just after flat leather belt PTOs, technology has evolved since then.
Besides all that 540/1000 would be vastly more versatile than 540/540e
Why can't it be used like a skid steer?
Nice 👍
I'm sure New Holland now call it "full drive"... They went away from steering-o-matic... Am I wrong??
New Holland ti4.100m they can make that into a bulldozer for the new Holland construction equipment
Let’s say a person comes in and wants to buy that tractor. You ask them about their “needs”. They tell you they are rich and just wanted it as a toy. Will you sell it to them or not?
That's not abnormal.
@@MessicksEquip sweet! So... when I win the lottery... I’ll be sure to shop at your store. Lol
He's in the market if selling. Anyone that sells something won't care what you do with it, as long as it's legal, when you are buying it. They might tell you it might not be the best choice, but it's your choice to make.
@@arthurr8670 No such thing as a wrong choice for a toy. :-)
@@arthurr8670 I never got a notification about your reply. Apologies. The reason I asked… I had gone to out local dealer during a purchase of a Kubota tractor(with a lot of implements included in the sale). They had just gotten one of these in at the aforementioned dealer. I asked the salesman “how much” and he said that he wouldn’t even consider selling it to me because he knew I didn’t have an application for it. 😂 I only had a few acres of hobby farm and I guess he just assumed I wasn’t serious and said that. I probably would have bought it but that would have required me backing out of the current $75k sale I was invested in at the time with him. So… idk. I never pushed it hard because I wasn’t exactly in need of it but was just curious if it was common for dealerships to say things like that.
