So, what happens is, Jacob Marley was just like scrooge. When he died, those chains appeared and those chains will never come off him because he didn't care in life. Now, he's warning Scrooge if he doesn't change, he will ended up like him. With the workers, they don't appear in the movies expect in the 2004 movie and some stage versions of A Christmas Carol. But those workers weren't in the show. I hope that helped.
They can't remove their chains because It is too late for them. Only the living can remove their chains by changing their ways and becoming better people.
Great voice. But In my personal opinion my favorite performances of Marley have singers who sound miserable while they sing. He just sounded too giddy here. Great show still 👏
I love everything EVERYTHING about this staging. STUNNING

Chains represent his greed, and how his greed has weighed him down. He appears to Scrooge to save Scrooge from sharing his fate.
