Hi John. Did you realise that from 2.10 you're looking at the site of Cocken Hall? The area of grassland surrounded by woodland on 3 sides with some fabulous Beech trees you can make out was the Parkland in front of the Hall. The browny looking piece of land to the right is where archaeologists excavated the old WW1 practice trenches of the DLI Pals Battalion who were stationed at Cocken Hall and the old Drill Hall at West Rainton. I believe the Hall was demolished in the 1950s.
Hi Susan, yes I think you've pointed me to the place once before and I did look for it (around the time I did Old Langley Hall) but I was approached by a lady who told me that I was on private land, she was nice enough to let me get some bluebell pictures, I couldn't see any sign of an old hall and I didn't have the drone with me anyway.
@@assessorjohn ah right. I wasn't sure if I'd told you. No, there's very little to see. An old ice house and the remains of some old wrought iron railings were all we saw.
I have just checked your channel and there are loads of uploads I have missed...! What is You Tube playing at. Your video of this old structure is fantastic and a beautiful orbit too. Those colours are fabulous. Very nice share John. Time to play catch up with your uploads... Sometimes You Tube cock up big time eh.😉👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Kim, yes I've tried to get out and about with the drones as much as I can, I'm running short of place ideas though, I might have to edge into Northumberland a bit :)
We forget just what a beautiful and historically rich place we live in....
Amazing job
Thank you very much. You're right, I do feel lucky to live in this gorgeous county.
