I've been having alot of fun as a solo player. Just beat a M3 depths yesterday and enjoyed the challenge. I hope they still iron out alot of the networking/bugs/balancing but overall I feel like the game is in a decent spot.
What I don't like about New World is that it has a story for the sake of having a story. No grand fantasy setting. What is this, "some bunnies got angry" - The expansion
so sad, i'm type mmorpg gamer myself, if this game not broken at launch, i would playing this game with my friends now.. even when all my friends left, i played it alone hoping the game gettin better (til 400-500 hours) .. so much potential wasted but still best gameplay action mmorpg for me. my first hard-fought boss dungeon experience with my friends still lingers in my head till now makes me more sad haha
Exactly, most people say its completely boring and its a piece of shit. Basically the oly thing that makes me keep reconsidering is the looks of the game. I watched PvP videos and they looked like complete clusterfuck, so id play it as a PvE game for sure. But combat is supposed to be quite boring as well, idk. Only crafting is a bit meager for me.
Depends how much you like grinding really. Youll def get your moneys worth time wise but its mostly just grinding various skills and armor sets for the end game which is mid asf. No raids or anything just a couple dungeons
i reinstalled this game yesterday, immediately could not use any of the weapons the game gave me due to a bug, then saw a horse ride past with no running animation and the player floating above it - immediately uninstalled.
i feel like the DLC took part of the base game away from the people that don't want the DLC, the 16:30 moment where he explain, the DLC feel big because they removed a bunch of things from the base game that you can't do anymore until you buy the DLC, that's why the reviews are still not going up on steam
The main thing I absolutely love is the open world pvp. They added daily Influence Races that encourage everyone to participate in order to throw a territory into conflict for war declaration. The main problem I have related to this is that, if there are too many people at a capture point, you'll be teleported to town. You can be killed while teleporting. The other issue is that they locked a few artifacts (max gear score uniques that you can only obtain once) behind pvp track levels. The best-in-slot gear I want are weeks away of grinding PvP. Some artifacts are locked behind PvE content like expeditions (dungeons) and open world mobs. The worst part about the PvP track is that, you have to get to rank 100 to even get a CHANCE of getting the artifact. You can only pick 1 of 3 offerings from each checkpoint. There are 3 checkpoints per track. The 3rd checkpoint is typically the one that has the chance to give you the option for the artifact. There is an indefinite amount of grinding for the artifacts from the PvP track and that feels bad when the only real way to grind it is between: mindless PvP faction missions, queuing the coin flip OPR and hoping you get a decent enough team where you cna get full credit for the match (obtain ~3k score by the end), spamming 3v3 and hoping you don't get 2 healers on your team, and fort capturing on cooldown.
New World is my most played MMO, but I have just dropped off again because of lack of content. Leveled to 65, got to GS 695 and the only thing left to do was get to GS 700 but for what? Just to fo the same dungeons at M3 instead of M2... I'll come back again with another content update but there just isn't enough to do in the game really.

Playing Guild Wars 2 and New World at the same time makes New World so hard with these horses, it is absolutely embarrassing how clunky they are in New World. Asmongold always compliments stuff that GW2 had for years, yet he still refuses to try it lol

The DLC came with a bunch of bugs that took another two weeks to fix but it feels ok now. I didn't like the expertise system but progression now seems like its almost exclusively tied to crafting. You can find 700GS items in the wild but they are very rare and almost non-existent in PVP aside from the artifacts. Lotta grinding now if too want BIS
The gypsum kiln lets you craft damn near bis gear with only 1 lvl into an expertise so if you don’t care to max out crafting the perfect gear you can still become very close to BIS

NW "Expansion" was a joke. Took me like 10 hours to finish everything on the map (Terribly small map) . . . now just a gear grind. Big let down, last expansion I will pay for in this game!
The update was great, but they still suffer the same problem as the past 2 years: No cross-realm dungeons. No cross-realm raids. No cross-realm arena. No rated OPR. No rated arena. Generally, players quit because the servers suffer from the default MMO update cyclus: Update happens... tons of people come back and new people start... everything is busy as heck! 1-2 months later: Servers start dying out really hard, because as any other mmo, the influx of casuals drop off dramatically once the new content has been consumed and the people who stick to the game, can't do the things they want to do, because of the lack of cross-realm features for group and raid content. I don't understand why cross-realm wasn't a primary goal with the initial release... imho, it should be so easy to for-see the problems coming from having a game with just 2-3k players per server and no ability to queue for group stuff with cross-realm parties.
Cross realm is on pace for next season. Hopefully now they are done focusing on the leveling experience more stuff is in the pipeline for endgame and the overall experience.
I know it is, but the game has been out 2 years and this has been the pain spot that keeps emptying the servers...... guess what the servers will look like, population wise, in 50 days? they are already on a big decline barely a month in, by December they'll be ghost towns again.@@propersod2390 They should've released the expansion in December along with cross-realm functionality, to retain a bigger chunk of the players for a longer time.
The issue with upgrading artifacts is that the text filters don't see the upgrade recipe. You have to unequip the artifact like you said but you also have to scroll down to the bottom of the list. If you try to filter to find the recipe it will not find it.
This game still has major issues that hasnt been fixed sonce launch. The worst one for me being the TERRIBLE server system, you should NEVER be kicked from your hoke reakm for not logging in constantly, thats ridiculous. (It also makes returning friends very difficult to play with for no reason)
I was just looking at buying the base game to try it, now I read that tons of content from the base game is locked behind the expansion (like old dungeons). The fact that they moved core game content into the expansion pay wall has now made me lose any will to give it a try.

Just so you know you will pay more if you just buy the base game. Buy both it's worth it. It took them 3 years after buying the base game for them to get me to spend another $40 that's a better deal than wow

I think that Asmon really hit the nail on head when he said that the more seriously you take this game, the "worse" it gets, but as a casual MMO, it's great. As a casual player, I never really cared much about meta, end-game gearing, PvP, attack and animation chains etc., I always just wanted to enjoy the world, get immersed, have fun with friends or solo, enjoy the story or just leisure acitivities in the world. And in this, New World really is the best casual MMO these days, even with the "rough around the edges" aspects
Most mmorpg are by design for casuals, even the og ones so yeah no wonder ! The less you play, the more you build up the anticipation and the more the pleasure last !

I feel like most MMOs are focusing on end-game and group play these days, while overlooking the horizontal progression and options as to what the world can actually offer. For anyone seeing this, don't get sucked in by the short-term hype and barrage of content videos that came out around the bullshit DLC passed off as an expansion. And yes, it's a very very limited DLC. You get access to mounts, which should be baseline in ANY mmo. You get access to a single re-skinned zone. Not world, not new continent, 1 zone. And 1 new weapon. 1 single weapon. The game will hold your attention for a few days, maybe a week. You'll very quickly figure out how shallow it really is and move on. Spend your money on something else, please don't give it to Amazon.
The game has been good since the fresh start happened, what the problem is the endgame being farming umbrals to run the same dungeon all week to upgrade a set of every type of defensive set just so you can upgrade a pvp set. Then theres the war system that is incredibly sweaty and involves people that openly buy gold and there are tons of musket hackers. I loved it for a time but im never going back. What they need to add is mock-wars so companies can practice defending and attacking without needing to push a territory all day to have a single war in 2 days.
Does anyone know if Asmon ever talked about the fact that non-PVP artifacts are locked behind high level pvp rewards? (mainly talking about the nimble coat)

32:08 a toddler can learn basic swimming after like like 50 hours. You Amazon new world can't swimming 3 years into the game. And still cannot swimming even after learning how to raid the horse.
New player to new world. My observation: It sucks to start from behind. Its very difficult to get expeditions. Lv 60 cap (no expansion) means you are cut off from the last leg of the game completely. Artifact farming will be very difficult since the majority of players already have farmed them and there is no real reason for lv 65s to do any previous content nor is there a reason to farm the artifacts one they have gotten theirs. I think FF14 does a better job incorporating high level players into earlier content and would benefit the game as a whole to take a second look at it all. Game is plenty pretty, leveling is plenty smooth. Would be nice to see some touch ups on underused skills.
I'm not going back to new world simply because the game does not have swimming, no one just sinks to the damn sea floor in full leather gear and walks slowly like they're rp walking on land. The game devs are stupid for not fixing this yet.
Apparently 11 expeditions, a tonne of elite areas and trials, 20 man worm raid and more isn't enough endgame content lol. World of warcraft has spoilt you people

I WARN YOU ALL : Biggest issue here is server cap is 2500 people, when you come back to game after DLC for a 3 to 4 weeks server is full and you can find people to do dungeons or other content but since the cap is so low after that every server have like 500 to 1000 players but can not even Looking for dungeon with cross server so that point there is not enough people to play and all you time is wasted! Server caps should be atleast 10k or 20k so when first hype is gone atleast half of server be there and it left us people to play. When cap is so low , after-hype population become torture.
The game isn't designed for high player count. World resources are shared. But once they add cross realm expeditions next season it should be a lot better
hope they add it , because after every new dlc there is peak of players and game become playable for 3 weeks, after the drop of player count it is basicly a single player game that you run around and act like crafter or something since player number is 500 or so and most of them just run around to hit a rock or something@@oxsila

I am glad that this game is making a comeback in healthy way. More and more people are considering this to be actually a good game. And the best part which gives me hope is that Amazon is doing good job reviving game without making it a trash P2W game, so hopefully this will give them enough good insight on what people like and respect when it comes to MMOs - so let's hope their next online projects/games will be better at launch than NW.

Its a good game if you stop caring about meta builds for pvp and territory control. The pve is good minus the worm raid being kind of a D2 public event with no challenge to it.
Sadly I cannot play a game with so many micro transactions, it’s just not fun enough to have so much in game appearance and mount stuff not earned but purchased. I’m glad the game is doing better though for those who play

Actually really been enjoying the game, And its funny hearing about the no timer on the mount quests cause i did almost half of them with no timer and i took my sweet time and did some mining and gathering along the way lmao, I also died in the exact same way he did trying to get across that river.
I got interested picking up New World for the first time. Do you recommend me to get the expansion right away or is it just stuff you can do after finishing the base game anyway like in FFXIV or GW2?

@@arszen5809 I'd say do what you prefer. If you have the money for the DLC, go for it. Although the zone is made for 60+ characters, you can get a mount at level 25. I'd say if you want to pick up the base game for $40, you can get a lot of content out of it. One up side of New World compared to FFXIV and WoW is no sub fee. Meaning even if you play for around 100-200 hours and get bored until next update, all you have to do is re-install the game and not worry about paying another month of sub time.
@@arszen5809 if you enjoy leveling and questing for fun, crafting and gathering and even pvp its probably worth just buying the base game to see how you like it. Just know you’re missing a weapon, you dont get mounts, cant do mutated dungeons and a few other things, that being said if you get 20 levels in you can just buy the expansion and go all in. But if you’re all about end game content you’ll definitely want to get the expansion off rip
I wish they went with a horizontal progression model instead of vertical, that way you wouldnt be forced into buying the expansion if you wanna enjoy the game. (Like ESO and GW2) its just much healthier for the community to.
TBH, its not even an expansion. I'm still willing to pay the 30$ but to call this an expansion is a little far-fetched as is seems to be more like a revamped version of the base game.. just doesn't feel right that they fix certain things but keep putting off the major issue of small ass servers.

Your point about expansions might be accurate but New World doesn't have an endgame to ruin. It has a tiny hamster wheel that it tricks players back into for crumbs. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it for quite a while. But it's a tiny "MMO." I bought it on a sale and it was worth the price. But this paid patch is a bit laughable.

Agree GS is waaay too easy now i had fun grinding GS gear when it was a thing, and dark matter upgrade was fun and gives something to grind for if you get a nice piece.
I know it's not an MMO. But Diablo 3 did it's expansion pretty well. You still maintained and did content in all of the original zones. I hate that most MMO's essentially erase the old game each expansion.

You NEED to level up your crafting to get bis items anyway since you gonna need to craft them, so put some time aside and do some crafting :).

Nah, there aren't enough activities at endgame and that's a fact.
NW "Expansion" was a joke. Took me like 10 hours to finish everything on the map (Terribly small map) . . . now just a gear grind. Big let down, last expansion I will pay for in this game!
The update was great, but they still suffer the same problem as the past 2 years:
No cross-realm dungeons. No cross-realm raids. No cross-realm arena. No rated OPR. No rated arena.
Generally, players quit because the servers suffer from the default MMO update cyclus:
Update happens... tons of people come back and new people start... everything is busy as heck!
1-2 months later: Servers start dying out really hard, because as any other mmo, the influx of casuals drop off dramatically once the new content has been consumed and the people who stick to the game, can't do the things they want to do, because of the lack of cross-realm features for group and raid content.
I don't understand why cross-realm wasn't a primary goal with the initial release... imho, it should be so easy to for-see the problems coming from having a game with just 2-3k players per server and no ability to queue for group stuff with cross-realm parties.
Cross realm is on pace for next season. Hopefully now they are done focusing on the leveling experience more stuff is in the pipeline for endgame and the overall experience.

They should've released the expansion in December along with cross-realm functionality, to retain a bigger chunk of the players for a longer time.

The issue with upgrading artifacts is that the text filters don't see the upgrade recipe. You have to unequip the artifact like you said but you also have to scroll down to the bottom of the list. If you try to filter to find the recipe it will not find it.

ive been enjoying the new expansion tbh. I stopped playing a couple months after the game released, and came back and maxed a new character recently.

I was just looking at buying the base game to try it, now I read that tons of content from the base game is locked behind the expansion (like old dungeons). The fact that they moved core game content into the expansion pay wall has now made me lose any will to give it a try.

It was good when it first released, but imo it’s not worth getting into anymore as the player count and hype is gone, which ultimately ruins the whole experience for me. Just my opinion though..
Just so you know you will pay more if you just buy the base game. Buy both it's worth it. It took them 3 years after buying the base game for them to get me to spend another $40 that's a better deal than wow

30$ for this game is a steal compared to other games prices in the MMO/MMORPG Market LOL and they still have bugs atleast the horse riding in this game is better than D4 and that was WAAAAAAY more than 30$
The animations for the mounts, and look of them is nice. Not enough to bring me back into NewW. But... entertaining to watch.
Im brand new to NW, I have been loving this game. First MMO and a bunch of friends got it too.

I think that Asmon really hit the nail on head when he said that the more seriously you take this game, the "worse" it gets, but as a casual MMO, it's great. As a casual player, I never really cared much about meta, end-game gearing, PvP, attack and animation chains etc., I always just wanted to enjoy the world, get immersed, have fun with friends or solo, enjoy the story or just leisure acitivities in the world. And in this, New World really is the best casual MMO these days, even with the "rough around the edges" aspects
Most mmorpg are by design for casuals, even the og ones so yeah no wonder !
The less you play, the more you build up the anticipation and the more the pleasure last !

I feel like most MMOs are focusing on end-game and group play these days, while overlooking the horizontal progression and options as to what the world can actually offer. That makes them kinda boring and not very immersive for casual playing.

For anyone seeing this, don't get sucked in by the short-term hype and barrage of content videos that came out around the bullshit DLC passed off as an expansion.
And yes, it's a very very limited DLC. You get access to mounts, which should be baseline in ANY mmo. You get access to a single re-skinned zone. Not world, not new continent, 1 zone. And 1 new weapon. 1 single weapon.
The game will hold your attention for a few days, maybe a week. You'll very quickly figure out how shallow it really is and move on. Spend your money on something else, please don't give it to Amazon.
The game has been good since the fresh start happened, what the problem is the endgame being farming umbrals to run the same dungeon all week to upgrade a set of every type of defensive set just so you can upgrade a pvp set.
Then theres the war system that is incredibly sweaty and involves people that openly buy gold and there are tons of musket hackers.
I loved it for a time but im never going back. What they need to add is mock-wars so companies can practice defending and attacking without needing to push a territory all day to have a single war in 2 days.
Does anyone know if Asmon ever talked about the fact that non-PVP artifacts are locked behind high level pvp rewards? (mainly talking about the nimble coat)
I am so happy about this. Finally those pve players will know what its like. Spending 100s of hours doing pve just to pvp. I hope the elitist type pve people go hella dry on serenity haha payback time
32:08 a toddler can learn basic swimming after like like 50 hours. You Amazon new world can't swimming 3 years into the game. And still cannot swimming even after learning how to raid the horse.
New player to new world. My observation: It sucks to start from behind. Its very difficult to get expeditions. Lv 60 cap (no expansion) means you are cut off from the last leg of the game completely. Artifact farming will be very difficult since the majority of players already have farmed them and there is no real reason for lv 65s to do any previous content nor is there a reason to farm the artifacts one they have gotten theirs. I think FF14 does a better job incorporating high level players into earlier content and would benefit the game as a whole to take a second look at it all. Game is plenty pretty, leveling is plenty smooth. Would be nice to see some touch ups on underused skills.

Soo just an update, just came back and hoenstly didnt have a single issue with none of the above which you stated lol.
I'm not going back to new world simply because the game does not have swimming, no one just sinks to the damn sea floor in full leather gear and walks slowly like they're rp walking on land. The game devs are stupid for not fixing this yet.
New World is good, but it is missing more endgame content to make it an excellent MMO
Apparently 11 expeditions, a tonne of elite areas and trials, 20 man worm raid and more isn't enough endgame content lol. World of warcraft has spoilt you people

I really hope the environment design team gets to work on another project with a better foundation because the environments alone excite me but NW just isn’t for me.
I WARN YOU ALL : Biggest issue here is server cap is 2500 people, when you come back to game after DLC for a 3 to 4 weeks server is full and you can find people to do dungeons or other content but since the cap is so low after that every server have like 500 to 1000 players but can not even Looking for dungeon with cross server so that point there is not enough people to play and all you time is wasted! Server caps should be atleast 10k or 20k so when first hype is gone atleast half of server be there and it left us people to play. When cap is so low , after-hype population become torture.
The game isn't designed for high player count. World resources are shared. But once they add cross realm expeditions next season it should be a lot better
hope they add it , because after every new dlc there is peak of players and game become playable for 3 weeks, after the drop of player count it is basicly a single player game that you run around and act like crafter or something since player number is 500 or so and most of them just run around to hit a rock or something@@oxsila

I am glad that this game is making a comeback in healthy way. More and more people are considering this to be actually a good game. And the best part which gives me hope is that Amazon is doing good job reviving game without making it a trash P2W game, so hopefully this will give them enough good insight on what people like and respect when it comes to MMOs - so let's hope their next online projects/games will be better at launch than NW.

Its a good game if you stop caring about meta builds for pvp and territory control. The pve is good minus the worm raid being kind of a D2 public event with no challenge to it.
Sadly I cannot play a game with so many micro transactions, it’s just not fun enough to have so much in game appearance and mount stuff not earned but purchased. I’m glad the game is doing better though for those who play

@@arszen5809 It unlocks a quest that gives you access to mounts and the ability to use the Flail, however I would only recommend you to buy it if you enjoy the base game
@@arszen5809 I'd say do what you prefer. If you have the money for the DLC, go for it. Although the zone is made for 60+ characters, you can get a mount at level 25. I'd say if you want to pick up the base game for $40, you can get a lot of content out of it. One up side of New World compared to FFXIV and WoW is no sub fee. Meaning even if you play for around 100-200 hours and get bored until next update, all you have to do is re-install the game and not worry about paying another month of sub time.
@@arszen5809 if you enjoy leveling and questing for fun, crafting and gathering and even pvp its probably worth just buying the base game to see how you like it. Just know you’re missing a weapon, you dont get mounts, cant do mutated dungeons and a few other things, that being said if you get 20 levels in you can just buy the expansion and go all in.
But if you’re all about end game content you’ll definitely want to get the expansion off rip

I wish they went with a horizontal progression model instead of vertical, that way you wouldnt be forced into buying the expansion if you wanna enjoy the game. (Like ESO and GW2)

TBH, its not even an expansion. I'm still willing to pay the 30$ but to call this an expansion is a little far-fetched as is seems to be more like a revamped version of the base game.. just doesn't feel right that they fix certain things but keep putting off the major issue of small ass servers.
the biggest problem with the expansion is it takes away content that the origional purchasers used to be able to do, and then sell it back to you a 2nd time. it's bullshit
And that it barely brought any new content, I wouldn't be as triggered of them selling a micro sized expansion for 30$ if they didn't paywall tmog system behind 7000$.

Your point about expansions might be accurate but New World doesn't have an endgame to ruin. It has a tiny hamster wheel that it tricks players back into for crumbs.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it for quite a while. But it's a tiny "MMO." I bought it on a sale and it was worth the price. But this paid patch is a bit laughable.

Agree GS is waaay too easy now i had fun grinding GS gear when it was a thing, and dark matter upgrade was fun and gives something to grind for if you get a nice piece.

I know it's not an MMO. But Diablo 3 did it's expansion pretty well. You still maintained and did content in all of the original zones. I hate that most MMO's essentially erase the old game each expansion.
If a game wipes your old progression so you keep playing, that is a sign the devs amit it is a failed mmo and is now a fotm game like triple a titles.

The only game I know of that did that is GTAO which is not an MMO but a session-based online RPG.
