Another brilliant video and love the utilities belt😄👍. Big thumbs up from me. Views look stunning, can't wait. Thanks again for head's ups much appreciated 👍 ATB Dave 😊👍 aka wackyswanderings 👍
Cracking vid again, Justin - and howzabout that weather?! Beautiful. You did well with that tent pitch. The trailblazer at Kytra was my salvation after the high route of Loch Ness (I started from Inverness) - did a 28 mile day!! 😬 Just couldn't find anywhere to camp!! Exhausting, but genuinely one of my favourite days walking ever. Really looking forward to day 3 bud! Great stuff (love the utility belt too!) 😂🤘🏻
Thanks Dan! 🤙 Another cracking day. I passed some great places to camp but had to push on. The midges and flies were so irritating up top! You can’t argue with that view and camp spot though, eh? Magic 👌 My pack was rammed, no room for anything else, hence..... banana utility belt, of course! 🍌
Really good video again, enjoyed this! Stunning walk. I can’t lie though, I couldn’t of passed that village. It looked really nice, and the chips would of persuaded me. Nice camp spot you found there though 👍🏻
Fort Augustus was very tempting in the late afternoon sun with a beer garden and the smell of fish and chips in the air! 😂 However, I knew if I stayed, I would have 22 miles of roller coaster ups and downs the next day, which would have done me in good and proper. Good decision in the end, and the bonuses were the fantastic sunset and sunrise views from up high. 👍 Justin.
Superb Justin. You can't argue with feeling good. If it's there it's take advantage of it isn't it? Well, it was good on all fronts the weather and the impressive mileage not forgetting the last pitch with its awesome view and splendid living room. Really enjoyable midge net and all. Mark
Thank you Mark, and you are so right! 👍 I had a great day, felt stronger, and squeezed every bit of enjoyment out of it. Yes, I was tired and the midges were irritating but that’s a small price to pay for days such as that, isn’t it? 👌 Hope you are well, Justin
@@JustinWhiting9 A pleasure Justin. Yeah 'fill your cup' as they say. You certainly did that. I'm OK. Starting the Wye Valley walk this weekend. The Wye from source to Chepstow. It's the last of the Wye rivers, which I was meant to be doing with my dear brother. I'll have done all 20 then. I'm excited. Take care Justin. See you in the next one.
Sounds like something you’ve been building towards for a long time Mark. The best and most fulfilling kind of adventure. Almost a quest! I know you will savour every step. Your brother will be with you in spirit every step of the way, man. 👌 🥾
@@JustinWhiting9 You're right Justin. We were motivated then and since he's been gone he's been motivating me from that other place. I was never not going to finish the Odyssey. Thank you for your encouragement and kindness. it means a lot.
Midges come between May and Sept. A light wind blows them away though. They are prevalent around marshy ground but not along most of the GGW. Good luck 👍
Hi, I had no plans and was just going to wild camp along the way. I still don’t even know if there is a campsite in FA, but would definitely recommend staying there, it is the best place along the GGW 👍 Justin
Nice one 👍 If you start in the afternoon then I recommend camping at Gairlochy Lock on the north side, just opposite the shower block. Good luck! 🤘 Justin
Justin Whiting I had to wade through a flood outside fort William I misjudged it’s depth and feet, boots and socks wet I developed painful blisters on both feet so I’m having to leave Fort Augustus today and go home But I’ll return next spring. I’ll put my videos up soon. Thanks again for your videos they helped me plan.
Bad luck man. I got blisters on day 2 from all the hard walking along the canal. Thankfully it was dry and I treated them early. Sorry to hear you had to abandon.
Hi Jenny, loads of them early and late in the day up high, but otherwise not a problem on the whole route. I was prepared though with my headnet, repellant wipes, and all my clothes and tent were pre-treated with anti-bug permethrin spray 👍
@@JustinWhiting9 yes they are a pain if you don't know about them I learned the hard way the first time I did the WHW. By the time I had my tent up I was a Zombie. :)
Not yet, but the post is a bit sketchy during lockdown. I’m sure they will arrive safely soon. Looking forward to receiving a “Letter from America”. 👍 I’ve only passed through Georgia once, near Savannah on the coast, and I was lucky enough to visit the Great Smoky Mountains at Clingmans Dome and drive the Blue Ridge Parkway through SC, NC, VA and WV 👌

@@JustinWhiting9 appreciated 👍 👍
Wow definitely the right choice the view was lovely. Good spot for a camp ideal for a wee fire, toast some midges.👍
Thanks Alex! 👍 My first encounter with the infamous Scottish midge, and his 6 billion mates!
Very nice! Especially the views on the high route. Thank you for this video!
Thanks Mirco! 👍 There is a second high/low route option on Day 3.... which did I take?.... Keep watching to find out! 😂 Justin
Fantastic, looks amazing. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks John! 👍
I like your videos. They are very relaxing. You take the good side of every little inconvenience. 👍
Thanks Filippo 👍 Much appreciated. Justin
Beautiful views.
Thanks Sara! 👍 It was a cracking day that one!

Really enjoying your journey Justin, the high route wins every time! Thanks for sharing. Stay well.

I will be watching your video Mark. Good luck 👍
I wish I took the higher route.
Hi Paul, the midges and flies were irritating. That was the only place to camp in the 8 mile section. Worth doing though for the views. 👌
How were the midges along your trip planning on doing it this year end of August

The fish and chips were good you missed out!
👍 Yeah, but glad I skipped that and made it up the hill for those views. Worth the sacrifice I think. 👌 🏔
@@JustinWhiting9 absolutely it was a great effort I referenced your videos in mine just processing the first one. All the best, Dave
Thanks Dave 👍
Did you prefer this or the Coast to Coast, St. Bees to RHB?
Hi Ange, Quite different walks. GGW is shorter and much easier than the C2C. I enjoyed both. The GGW very much so as the conditions were perfect 👌 😀
@@JustinWhiting9 Thanks, yes you had great weather in Scotland! Enjoyed watching these videos and the C2C ones 🙂
Thanks Ange! 😀 You are most welcome. Thanks for your kind comments 👌 Justin

You couldn't pitch that Lanshan Pro without the trekking poles. Don't want to hear uphill, crack on. Lol
Hi John, think I missed this comment. Sorry. First 2 days flat, next 2 days lumpy... that’s the way it goes in Scotland. 🏴
Did you get the stickers?
