just wanted to let people know that Charlie Pickering is a host on a tv show called The Project (which has been running since 2009). John Oliver only got his own show in 2014 and only started being nominated for Emmys in 2009 for his work with John Stewart, also Australia barely gets any American tv shows and I doubt many people had heard of The Daily Show with John Stewart before that so I doubt it's a rip off.

I stumbled on this by accident, and this is my first time seeing this guy. He's very funny. If I were in Australia, I'd watch his show. And to respond to some of the comments below, you're right, this type of satirical treatment of the news isn't new. It's just that some of the folks today doing it in recent years are getting a lot of attention--and are very good at it.

It's called a Satirical News Program. This type of show format was around long before John Oliver.. seriously, by fucking decades. Both in the USA and in Australia, along with many other countries. At the risk of getting an obnoxious song stuck in all our heads, let it go.

+hamim gaming It's the Weekly. I think it airs Wednesday nights some time on ABC (and then undoubtedly on ABC2 sometime after that). Whatever the case, you'll be able to find it on iView provided you live in Australia :)

total copy of oliver but surprisingly good. only he did not give fair numbers , gross national income ? what the hell is he referring to gdp or gross domestic product? if so national budget is just percentage of gdp usually around 20 to 25 percent . even than given his numbers foreign aid would be around 0.88%of the budget, therefore his premises is still valid but numbers are a bit unfair.
