So I can install the purfling and cut through it for the final finish pass. This makes the inlay look much better. It's the same way traditional makers do purfling and I'm quite certain the even being of by .005 I'm more accurate than with the gouge and scraper.
what about some colored epoxy instead of inlay for a little pizzaz?
That would be east in the maple back; the spruce is soft and porous, the purfling line would not be as crisp as I would want it.
nice...why not finish the milling when cutting the plate in the first place, rather than have to realign to mill a second time?

please just soak 1 side of the purfling, that could by easy to shape.
This stuff falls apart if it's soaked. I have been very light spraying it with water and bending it carefully with the iron.
