I know what you mean, I was born and raised in Alaska but this desert environment for the last 2 years has made me soft lmao Thanks for watching Nathan!
They have USB rechargeable hand warmers that work really well instead of the disposable chemical ones, but they are bigger and probably wouldn't fit in a sock.
I found a 300 watt electric heater with a thermostat so it'll turn off at 60. My backup is 25lbs of soapstone in a steel mesh bag. Haven't tested it yet though.
Yeah ive seen those! I'll probably end up getting myself a set for the sleeping bag so I dont have to use so many disposable ones but yeah they definitely wouldnt fit in a sock lol Thanks for watching Josh!
Diesel heaters sound awesome, but I just hate the idea of ducting and having to carry smelly diesel. Buddy Heater in my GFC doesn't make too much condensation if I crack the upstairs vents. But once I turn it off and go upstairs to my sleeping bag, the heat is gone in about 15 minutes. And that was in Autumn camping, only down to the mid 20's (F). I do think if I was going to plan on camping in the teens or below, I'd probably break down and get a diesel heater.
AGREED! I dont find myself in lower than 20 degrees very often (or at all since we've moved to Vegas 2 years ago. Now if my wife camped with me in these lower temps I may break down and get a diesel for her but she refuses to camp in lower than 40s lol so I've been dealing with what I got (at least for now lol) Thanks for watching DJ!
I have a double teton sleeping bag 0deg, bought that 12v blanket too. In my truck 12 deg outside i didnt even turn on the blanket, the sleeping bag was so warm that i had it unzipped for heat regulation. Inside the truck got down into the 30s. I did the buddy heater in my tent at Death Valley when it was in the 30s but the Teton bag was warm enough to leave it off. I just love how you cook, i have yet to make something extravagant, I need to start making good meals too! Thanks for the inspiration.
I love my 0degree bag, makes such a difference. idk if hamburger helper is very extravagant =p but I know what your talking about lol I get it though mountain house meals are always looking good at the camp for an easy meal. But you should try cooking up something good next time, I swear food tastes better outside lol Cheers bro!
I’ve ran the diesel heater and I can tell you, for only $100 it’s completely worth it. You have a GFC, you know how their biggest issue is condensation. The diesel heater completely eliminates that and keeps you warm and comfortable the entire night, without all the unnecessary layers.
@@Kadenventures since their new location in Orange Ca is 15min from me I’ll get it installed there. Hung out with all the GFC guys a couple months ago. Meeting back up with for King of Hammers.
@@Kadenventures not gonna lie though. I’m tossing up the idea and leaning really hard towards the super pacific switchback x1 because of the tent length. You can get in and out without moving any panels. And you can cleanly run wiring through the frame of the camper.
I have buddy heater as a backup of my diesel heater. The diesel heater is just a worry free system that you can just sleep all through the night and it’s economical, consuming about a little over a liter of diesel fuel for the whole night.
Agreed! I've never heard of anyone regretting their diesel heater setup and I definitely see the pros in it. Who knows I may end up upgrading this season esp with how cold its been getting these days lol Thanks for watching Norkis!
We love using our Mr. Buddy heater, but it gets condensation. Now we use 12V electric blanket during colder times/ winter time and the old school beanie and gloves.
Agreed! The condensation is definitely an issue but the electric blanket was a game changer this trip especially for just sleeping through the night since I usually don't run the mr buddy while I sleep
Can't wait , went camping at lovell last week in the back of a tacoma ,22° soft topper and a small little buddy heater and it was not enough, was looking into the diesel heater market !
Nice! I've never heard of anyone who regrets their diesel heater, who knows I may end up upgrading later this season if the heated blanket and buddy heater don't cut it for these colder temps lol Cheers man! Thanks for watching
I had to look this up a while back and Cast Iron is actually pretty durable so you can use any utensil on it (wood, metal etc) and it won't hurt it. Thanks for watching Jvp!
Sorry about that! I should have added a picture of what it looked like, if you go to my channel hit the community tab I just added a picture of what the fan looks like on the buddy heater 🤙🏽
40 degrees where I live you put on a sweater. Enjoy

@@Kadenventures of course! Your content is entertaining, and I’m getting a GFC for late spring early summer for my big summer overland trip.

@@Kadenventures -My pleasure… keep the adventure spirit.
Good stuff. I always just bring a bunch of hand warmers as well. Very simple.
Back to basics man! Hand warmers and good winter gear is all I used when I first got started camping in colder weather lol Thanks for watching Jay!
Looking forward to seeing how the added fan works for the Buddy!
