It was the 3rd Calder exhibit I went to that year and it was a great presentation the way it popped on the backrounds without shadows. A wonderful selection that felt like they fit so much more into that space then was possible. I’m so happy to find this documentation.

Most of what is said is nonsense, but It is cool how they created the gallery inside to avoid shadows created by the sculptures. Interesting effect.

Yes. Pretentious nonsense. The gallery was outside though, not inside, which was indeed a cool way to experience his sculptures.

I understand that you're the appointed steward(s) of Alexander Calder's work, but I've read the book that he wrote himself and he would be rolling his eyes, one eyebrow raised listening to you both going on with this pretentious silliness. You sound like Tim & Eric describing the universe in their comedy skit. The value is inherent in the man's work and there is no deeper spin or personal narrative of your own that will add any value to it. Calder's work is great because it's engaging and fun to experience, just like going to Six Flags and riding on the rollercoasters and spinning rides.
Calder's work is imaginative and fun in person or in pictures. I've enjoyed his work both ways. Calder was not a philosopher. He was a restless guy who couldn't stop fidgeting with something in his hands so he made a lot of stuff. He made stuff that allowed him to have fun being playful with his imagination. There is no deeper meaning. Read the book he wrote himself about his work.

Or. They're just cool looking black metal creations. Stop being so pretentious...
