- In this one, we head to Glass Butte in Oregon with @WorldofRockhounds to hunt for incredible obsidian! This has been on my rockhounding bucket list for a LONG time, so I am so happy to have finally made it over there, and I'm even happier to say that it certainly lived up to the expectations! After getting a hole going, we were digging out fantastic specimen after fantastic specimen! We got rainbow obsidian, borealis obsidian, silver and gold sheen obsidian, and even some mahogany! It was a wonderful day for sure! After we finish digging, we head back to the house to get closeups of our finds; after getting deep cleaned, these specimens transform completely! This may be the last hunt from the Oregon trip, but look forward to a video coming soon where we will cut and/or prep some of our discoveries! I hope you all enjoy this one, and I will have another one out soon!

I was great to dig and hang out with you, friend!
I'll be looking forward to when you happen to come back. Or when I can afford to make it that way. Either way :)
My first time to Glass Butte I dropped the ball by not doing my homework. It was awesome seeing you be so successful. Great pieces.
I never knew obsidian was so spectacular! I've collected a lot in Utah, but nothing compares to that!
I'm praying for a big blizzard in Montana so you will be forced to cut open since of your recent finds and prep that vertebrae you found on the beach in Oregon. 😂
I'm so looking forward to your future videos. 😊
Glass Butte is definitely on my rockhounding bucket list ⛏️
Wow!! So beautiful, and aptly named! Can’t wait to see what you create with these beauties! Hi to Kyle and Alexis! Thanks Theo!
Hiya Theo, awesome video and I love working on obsidian. Every since I've made friends with Scott from Oregon and he's gotten me interested in cut obsidian, I love making cabs out of it. I think you know whom I'm talking about, he has a channel too. It's as easy to work on as it could be, but you can make some beautiful cabs with it, and I know you will make some beautiful stuff with the material that you have found. I can't wait too see what you make out of it. I hope you and the Misses, have a awesome blessed day.
Cya! 😺🐟 out!
I'm so glad you made it out here too! We have so much to offer and just every part of this state has something different in it! It's really a Rockhound's paradise. Next time out, you will have to venture out to graveyard point and get some beautiful plume agate and of course there is thundereggs everywhere here! I would suggest a stop at the lily pad bed and get a big chunk or two of the rhyolite that's just loaded with tiny thunder eggs. It is the coolest cut on the saw! But that's just a few of the other treasures we have here! There is always next year! Montana isn't that far for those who drive! And Wyoming has some beautiful jade while you are out there too! There is so much beauty under our feet, and we don't even stop to think about it!
That borealis and rainbow obsidian was super gorgeous! And the silver sheen was pretty too! The cool part is when you get a big chunk that contains colors and silver or gold sheen! Like you did! It's going to be so gorgeous when you cut that big chonker! Thanks Theo, for taking us a long with you! Your excitement is so infectious! It's wonderful!❤
The boreralis… OMG. OMG. OMG. 😜
Have to say the one that flashed silver, purple AND green has to be my favorite, but honestly I love them all! Thank you for taking us along, Theo!
I had absolutely no idea that obsidian was as cool as that! Truly nice finds!
Can't wait to see your Cabs from this amazing collection of Obsidian!
So beautiful. The cabochons that will come out of these will be amazing 😮
The flashing blue reminds me of Labradorite! Ooooo!
I love them all. The rainbow is spectacular! ❤ Silver too..exciting finds.😊
Yes it does.
Such a fun trip. Beautiful projects lie ahead for you. Take us along, please. Thank you 😊
My favorite is the Rainbow! Love Color!
Wonderful pieces! So happy you were able to go out to see Kyle.
Wow they are beautiful! Cheers from East Coast, Canada.
Those are so beautiful! I can't wait to see the cutting video on them! 😊
I love that stuff!😄👍
I've always loved obsidian but wow I didn't know it came in so many colors thank you for sharing feel and I can't wait to see the video of what you do with that and the sunstone I watched that video too and that stuff was beautiful but anyway I can't pick a favorite of the obsidian it's one of the only stones that when you find it and clean it it's so shiny it almost looks like it's already been polished.......
The best collecting site I ever visited!
My favorite spot in Oregon to hound!
Ok, you've talked me into it. I will get some obsidian and work it into one of my projects!
Dude those are killer! NO obsidian in my area. Can’t wait to see you slab some of em
Wow ❤
Totally awesome adventure. Harney County is where I grew up. Great obsidian too!
I'm so excited, I'm going there for my birthday trip next year.
Oh man so cool. I would love to get out there one of these days!
That was so fun. Not sure I've ever heard of borealis. I love it❤
This would be a dream come true! I love rainbow obsidian!
You Lucky Boy! I so want to go there, I want to learn obsidian and I have a quite a bit of material to work on. I believe the last two are the best, those colors are so amazing...
Love your rocks!
18:26 is my favourite.
Reminds me of opals
Nice! Next time, try keeping a bopper or hammerstone handy and save water by knocking a little flake off to peek inside 🫠
Oh wow. Such an incredible rocks. Obsidians❤
Borealis is sweet! Now I guess I need to go to Oregon!
That gray pink/purple stuff is cool. I found a few chunks when I was there. I found the borealis/rainbow stuff tends to look lighter or more gray in color. You have to catch the light just right to see the colors.
The royal blue and the borealis pieces and the silver sheen
I really want to see the slabs! I hope it doesn’t shatter. Good luck…fingers crossed.
I hope you get to the Pacific annually.
I have to go check my obsidian. Fingers crossed 🤞 I have something like the beautiful stuff you dug out!
What a great find. Your obsidian er very, very like the northern lights. I can see the northern lights, but my country does not have rock like it. :)
Awesome obsidian, the one at 19:54 is to die for
Scooooooooooooooooooooooooooore! You did good. Hi to Alexis. Keep having fun!
Aurora Borealis obsidian is the best! 🤟🔥
Super gorgeous specimens!
I can’t imagine how you can do any better than that. Amazing obsidian.
An exciting treasure. They are so beautiful. They’ll slice without chipping??
this is so exciting, i share your joy😊
Magnificent finds!
Thanks for taking us along on the great trip across Oregon. Super nice obsidian finds. Does slabbing those require a special blade (for glass) or will any blade be okay? I'm looking forward to cutting into them. Thanks for sharing.
I would love to go dig with you guys someday when I'm up that way. Thanks for sharing
Amazing to think these are spit out of volcanoes!
Gorgeous! You didn’t show the green sheen one all cleaned up?
You have made me so excited to go and dig there. Black obsidian is on my top 5 favorites. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. ❤
Planning a trip to glass buttes soon. Do you have any tips for finding a great place to dig? Thanks in advance! Love the videos!
Fabulous finds. so many different kinds! love it.. The purple, Black, pale blue, & banded colors are Stunning. Thanks for sharing with us.. Is amethyst included in any of the shards?
Super cool obsidian. I have found a few small pieces in Alabama but nothing great just black and some weird greenish slag glass that glows red under uv light. Any idea why it glows red??? Thanks 😊
Oh my goodness. How can you keep from not being out there every single day? Lol
The obsidian is beautiful! Do you have to cut it a certain way to get the best color like labradorite?
The one at 18:48 is nice!
Fabulous! When you slab them, how do you keep them from shattering? You have to show that to us, too. after all< I hit like and subscribe. Great and fun video. Thanks!
YOOOO I live in Vancouver WA!
Were you guys on one of the claims out there?
We have found some rainbow, but nothing like you did.
We were not, we were at the borealis pit which we found on Kyle's blm map👍 its quite a ways in past all of the claims
Ok thank you!
I’ll have to try and find that area. I have 3 different maps, and they are all a little different.
We haven’t been there for 2 years, but I’ve been wanting to go again.
It would be nice if you were to include the GPS coordinates for the rest of us.
Hey, Theo, where's your wheelbarrow? 😅
19:59, can I buy this piece and have you polish it for me??¿?
It's hard to see the colors on your video!
napping?
If it’s not 30 pounds it’s not a good specimen!
