Thank you for this. I blame international competitions for the seemingly overexposed canon for learning and achieving notoriety on classical guitar. It seems that students who wish to compete need to master these popular chestnuts in order to be taken seriously by the community they're trying to break into. These standard works ARE lovely pieces and are worthy of their accolades, but it's nice to branch out with other pieces like you have presented. Lately, I've been learning some movements of Torroba's Castles of Spain and Mompou's Suite Compostelana. I've found these pieces to be stunningly beautiful and welcome personal interpretation...and they even lend themselves to sections of free improvisation if the player is moved to do so (go ahead and improvise over sections of Capricho Árabe in a competition and watch a riot ensue. Classical guitarists should spend more time learning composition and improvisation than they usually do...but that's a topic for another discussion, lol). Also, Andrea Gonzalez-Caballero has recently recorded a few pieces by Manuel Quiroga, arranged by Carles Trepat. Fabulous works!
Good selection of pieces. One very good intermediate selection is "Una Leyenda" by Pedro Sanjuan. Written for Segovia, but never performed by him. It is published by Edizioni Berben. Very much in the style of 'Capricho Arabe' or 'Capricho Catalan', and about the same level of difficulty. There are several YT recordings of this piece.
Srecna nedelja Iva (hope I’ve got that right!)! Thank you again - great choice of topic and great choice of pieces as I haven’t heard of most of them 👍. I know and love the Manjon, I’ve heard your version of the Canó and really enjoyed your vid on the Chavarrí but had never heard them before and now I need to check out all the rest of your suggestions as I haven’t come across them. That’s made it a great day for me - thank you! Try to check out the Ariel Ramirez - Balada Para Martin Fierro. Glorious! Great vid again - hvala!
All your suggested gems are nice. There is one that moved me enough to put it on my todo list: El Delirio👍🏻. Your performance on Siccas guitars is amazing and inspiring. I also like the beginning of Lament but after a few minutes it becomes too chaotic. Nowadays I'm focusing on Baroque (mainly 18th century, Italian), one of my favorite styles. If you happen to know interesting but lesser-known works of that time, a tip is always nice. Advanced pieces are welcome. Not some transcription of inferior quality. And not Bach because his works are widely known.
In my case as i am beginning a journey into Piazzolla music world, there are several transcriptions for guitar that i find extremely beautiful and full of passion.
ever check out ralph towner's music ? I discovered john williams plays bach when I was 16 but I quit playing electric when I was 27 to study ralph towner
You, as a real professional guitarist, perform an absolutely phenomenal cover of this magical music with incredible talent. Thank you Iva Kosić 👍👏🌹🌹🌹💕.
Please come to the Kotor Arts Festival. Beautiful music, beautiful location, beautiful woman - what a combination that would be. Since it worked for Yuja Wang (more than once), it would work for you, but unlike her, you would understand the language! (Perhaps you could play together and you could translate for her? However, since her outfits would not work for classical guitar, you would have to dress differently.)
hellooo happy Sunday🦁💞 if you want to support my work join us on Patreon: www.patreon.com/c/ivaguitar

Thank you princess Iva for your information.
