ohhh yes, watching this inspring video in preparation for my this year journey, my thoughts run forward to July, when my trip up there at Saltfjellet will begin. The landscape is so beautiful and peaceful. Thanks for this great video. It helps a lot for planning this solo trip. Peter
Weiter so!
Gruss Heini
+Fjell Wood Thanks for your comment. Yes, I really enjoyed this trip. From the coast until Lønsdal I crossed beautiful and various landscapes. It was much to warm for this region and in deeper areas the were a lot of midges.
I am just recently discovering your channel, your photography and imagery are simply mesmerizing! I hope you are still at it, look forward to you other videos.
Stunning place, i'm so lucky to live in this country. Haven't been trekking much so far north part from when i was deployed there in the army. But west in jotunheimen and hardangervidda i have been around a littlebit. Would love to go for a trip here one day as well.
Hilsen - Heini
Thanks for watching and your comment. Ok, I'll call you next time when I arrive in Ørnes. Yes it was very expensive. But the ride was worth the money. Also this beautiful ride with the speedboat is unforgettable (for a Swiss guy). This trip in 2014 was very nice and so far the most strenuous I ever made in Norway. It was very warm that summer (like this summer;-) Hilsen - Heini
Hi Alan, this trip across Saltfjellet and Svartisen was definitly my hardest trip I made since now. It was beautiful, but sometimes not easy to find the right path. Furthermore it was unusually warm with a lot of mosquitos and horse fly. Thanks for watching! Heini
Hi LeRoy, thanks for watching and your comment! This was a six day trekking trip over about 110km. It was my hardest trip in Norway until now. Including my latest trip I finished three days ago at Sirdal-Setesdal (video will follow in about three weeks). Heini
hello Heini, it's a great video. I have walked several areas in the noirth but I have never been to Svartisen. I would love to walk this hike in sept. The map covers the hike only for a part. Do you have the gpx file for the trail? cheers, Frits
I just wanted to comment and tell you that the 1129 steps you hiked up in Glomfjord will now be closed for good. Statkraft has deemed the 102 year old steps unsafe and not worth renovating, despite local protests to save the structure. I live a little south of it and have wanted to climb it since I saw this video. You are lucky to have experienced it!
Sorry for my late reply. This is very interesting to hear. The stairs were a tough start to my trekking trip. But it was worth every step. I will keep this trip in good memory. Thanks for watching and this information - Heini
@@bkpktrekker4086 Well, the stairs are still closed. Many want it opened but no one wants to pay for the upkeep. However, there are alternate routes available, it’s only the stairs that are no longer open.
@@garyhoffman1 can you give me a link to the tracks or more info? Im just finding out about this trail now. Looks incredible. Last year I did the Nordkalloteden from Kilpisjärvi to Abisko then the Kungsleden to Kvikkjok. This year i was thinking about the Massiv but i prefer something up north. This looks amazing. I only see one trail through the area
Superb video Heini. I've not been this far north in Norway but from the video the trails feel more remote than some other parks. What time of year was this? Did it actually get dark at night? Dave
Hi, I did this trip in July 2014. Saltfjellet og Svartisen is not so well know as Hardangervidda. During two days I didn't encounter not a single person. On walking I encountered just one person. At Beiarstua there was a German couple - overall probably 5, 6 person on this trip. I had fantastic weather and I never used my headlamp. For some hours it was a little dimly, but not dark. On a rainy day it could be dark for some hours, I suppose.
Hi Andrew, Kvitsteindalsgammen is an official cabin of the DNT (The Norwegian Tourist Association). If you stay overnight, a small amount must be paid. But I only made a short rest there.
Lg Matthias
Hi Heini, I have found the gpx files on the DNT website (ut.no/kart#10.85/66.7737/14.2503). So don't bother. The route that I have seen on your video is the follwing: Gråtådalstua til Kvitsteindalsgammen via Glomdalen 34 km . Gråtådalstua - Beiarstua 13 km (no gpx-file). Beiarstua - Bjellåvasstua 21 km. Bjellåvasstua - Midtistua 11 km. Midtistua - Lønsstua 26 km. Regards, Frits
Oh, thanks for this information. On my second day I started near Nedre Navarvatnet, went over Namnlausvatnet to Kvisteindalsgammen and from there into Glomdalen. I set up my tent about 12 km befor Gråtådalstua. I never walked more then 20, 22, 23 km. The longest part was from Gråtådalstua to Beiarstua. From Beiarstua up to Tverradalen it was a little hard to find the way. The path was'nt marked very clear a lot of marked birch trees laid on the ground so that they could not be seen from afar. But this was my greatest adventure so far!
Hi Elton, thanks for watching and subscribing my channel. I did this trip in six days. The summer in 2014 was unusually warm. It was probably the hardest trip I made until now!
schøne erinnerungen :-)

Another excellent video! And filmed right north of where I live. Next time, call me if you need a ride. That taxi must have cost a lot!

Nice footage! I like the non-stressed way you shoot and edit! How heavy is your backpack for a trip like this?
