I always find it a real treat when you do a review because to echo what is always said by JC Customs I am not aware of anyone else that covers the depths that you go to. For me I am interested primarily in water cooling using custom loops so I have the same types of things I like to see in a review. Great job as always and I will patiently await your next review and/or build video. ps. hope you managed to find something useful in version 4 of the pc components icon set I sent you. I have 3 more icons to draw and then I'll send you version 5 for a first look/use. Version 5 jumps from 200 icons up to 300 plus another 58 in the 'unused icons' layer in Illustrator. also included a heap of new components that weren't in the previous versions. Give me a day and I'll email you a copy
Bequiet really missed the mark on this case. I bought one on release and sent it back & emailed them all the problems I had with the case & they didn't even bother to reply back, even the retailer I sent the case back to was saying they had a few people sending theirs back for the same reason. Bequiet advertised the case for being able to mount a thick front rad if you remove the midplate shroud yet doing so nothing can be mounted on the side mount. Some radiator brands were to long to fit on the side mount but the ones that did fit would not allow for a rad anymore than 30mm to be mounted to the top (tested only in inverted) unless you wrongfully offset the top rad but doing so would stop you from utilising the push pins for the fan as the cut-out where they get screwed into would be on the wrong side. By doing this if you did get the rad to fit and having a side rad with top ports, it is either impossible or to tight to even get a fitting into the rad to route the tubes so you would have to have the ports facing down but if you did that then now you have incompatibility issues with having a front radiator. The front 5.25" bay drive was not good for using an aquaero 6xt as the molex connector & 4pin fan headers was so tight and close up to the metal of the drive enclosure that it was impossible to plug anything into it unless you plugged everything in before placing the aquaero into the bay but the connectors would have a lot of stress on them this way. The touch sensitive controls sound nice but really it’s just a gimmick and seen a few reports online of it malfunctioning after a while. The top pop out mesh panel also gets jammed inside the socket and becomes stuck & the only way the remove it is by pushing it up from the inside of the case which will be a hassle after you’ve already build your system into the case. Way to much plastic being used for a case of this price compared to something like the 011d which feels a lot more premium & is cheaper. The packaging like you said is terrible & a disgrace to see for such an expensive case, literally just making a mess everywhere in your room as it crumbles taking the case out the box. The only thing I liked about the case was it's cable management system, the basement space for long psus, the ease of use for inverting the case & some pretty decent included fans but other than that I can't really say anything good about this case & considering the price there is zero reason to buy this case. If I wanted watercooling their are so many cheaper cases that have better watercooling support & if I wanted silence with a bunch of hard drive storage I'd probably just get a fractal define 7 xl. What bequiet should have done was to make all the bundled accessories an optional extra, ship the case in airflow mode & drop the price by at least 40%. So many oversights when they designed this case i feel like a v2 just like the previous 900 is needed.
thank you for such detail. I found your comments really helpful and I value that you have really thought about what you're feeding back and put in the time to help others.
Fractal define looks ugly. Too simple. I have 901 and I also inverted it. I like the looks and materials used outside the case, it looks and feels premium. For me there’s a lot space, but it’s pity to hear that there is something which is not going to fit in it since I’ve selected it specifically to be able to do whatever I want in the future.
What I have in mind is to cutout the stupid glass panel adding to the hole a steel mesh and 2 decent 140 mm coolers, that will do the job. I managed to add 3x 120mm fans on the right side but their stupid thinking about cutting out the sheet metal there, removed the chance to install 140 mm fans. I am really thinking to modify it or better make a new one for 140 mm. Basically I will completely modify the stupid case. Clearly BeQuiet became incompetents.
I bought the case a couple of weeks ago, the black version. I love the case, but seeing this review I can imagine how amazing it would look to mix and match and make the case black and white by swapping parts since you can remove and replace near everything. The case is a bit too expensive for me to try this, but maybe a cool video idea ;)
I truly miss new cases with a 5.25 bay. I tend to use Icy dock stuff in my builds.. Currently using an old case on one icy dock that has a bluray burner and two sata drives , each drive has a on/off switch and are easily swapped out.
@@campcreekdude1 I already made the mistake to buy it, but is such a disappointment than I wont recommend. The 5.25" bay is unusable if you want to put there at least 1 HDD. So you have to choose basically between optical drive and rest SSD's or HDD but no optical drive. Choice is yours. If I can change it I would do in a second without even thinking to ever buy BeQuiet!
Very disappointing to see companies making cases of this size and not accounting for at least a 420 Radiator in the roof or even anything more than a 30mm thick 360mm rad. I can understand cutting centimeters here and there when you are building a mini tower or even mid tower case. Once you move up to a full tower case through, most buyers are going to want the ability to stuff it full of hardware and not be worried about an extra inch or two of height or depth.
The cage is beautiful but,,, must re think RGB section. Also add LCD panel is front PSU cover. So, forget rbg and replace with LCD panel to hide PSU and cables. Also, I didn't buy it cause I have an Asus Thor PSU with LCD, so can't see it with PSU cover. But still and impressive and beautiful cage! Love it!
And one thing that nobody fix yet is ... Only 120/140 back fan. It's depressive to watch. Must find the way to add 3 of them to make it beautiful there ❤
thanks for the great work on this review 😄! tho I'm sad to notice that the 901 has a worse watercooling support than the 900 😔. I thought it would make a perfect upgrade for me, but it seems like I need to change plan 😕
Great looking case, especially that we're currently in the age where manufacturers are just constantly building o11 clones and dual chamber cases, something like this stands out even more. But the price is kinda.... yeah. And I feel like they added way too much parts; Mesh and solid, Inverted layout gimmick, etc. it's pretty much there so they can increase the price even more, and people are paying for something that they will never use.
We are waiting for a new one SILENT BASE maybe the glass door will open normally.Because this is the biggest disadvantage, when the glass is removed like this, it is very easy to break it.
are you serious if inverted its all upside down??? they couldnt even figure that out?? really i gues that wont be to bad just a bit weird layout or would it be the exact same orientation?
The disappointing thing with this case is using one option usually means losing another. The Eatx m/b cover prevents fitting my air cooled 4090 as it butts up against it. Rad support is not great for such a big case, the gpu support bracket is clunky at best. Overall I’m very disappointed with it and looking to replace it already and I’ve been a bequiet fan over the years having had several of their previous cases. My advice would be to avoid it all together.
hey Stuart. As promised I've just emailed you the new version 5 of my PC components icon set. There's 300 icons plus a further 48 for in the "Unused Icons" layer. I attached the Adobe illustrator file and I've set it up properly for easy exports so that all icons get their own SVG or any other format you choose. Just go to the export panel and choose to export by Artboard and check the Select All option. I embedded a jog in the email for you to preview the main 300 icons. Hope you like them. I'll wait a couple of weeks before posting them to my Adobe Stock account. Any custom graphics you want done just give me a shout and I'll do them for you for free if you share my details when you use the assets.
@@GGFEventssorry to bombard you with comments but also just sent a very short email with a RUclips link and playback marker of where someone displays the specs for their build using really boring looking text that would be much more visually appealing with some iconography. Also put a lot of time into making sure the illustrator file is properly configured for easy exports of all icons as either a sprite sheet or as individual exports but with consistent dimension constraints so that you don't have to mess around resizing post export or if you do need to resize then you can just apply the same change to everything. Also as I've named the Artboard to match the naming in the layers panel you will find that all assets will be easy to find by file name post export without having to preview everything. Any other graphics you want I'll produce them for you for free as long as you send a design brief/description of what you want. I'm just after some exposure so if you use them I just want my name and email in the description where people normally credit people like the audio producers or stock assets.
I don't really see an issue with plastic. My 12 year old NZXT case at home has plastic panels on top and front, and I never had an issue with them. At least plastic is a lot easier to mold/shape for a unique look versus metal. From my perspective far too many cases anymore all look the same with the angular boxy appearance and acres of glass.. Kinda like crossovers in the car world, just copy paste. I kinda miss older case designs that were unique and offered a cool aesthetic or theme.
I don't think you need to change the way you review cases that much. There is a ton of people reviewing cases for everyday builds, but no one comes close to covering pc cases for custom water cooled builds like you do. Something like you did for this video is more than fair. "Good quality all around neat accessories and features, but limited for watercooling."
This is a great video, I feel like you helped me get a better understanding of my plan to build in this.

i have a 25mm rad and 55mm total with fans will my ssds at the bottom fit?
Wait are those Silent Wings 4 in White?!? Ive always wanted to have a zero-RGB white build, those would definitely fill up that niche market.
