Since you have reviewed so many speakers it would be wise to create a ranking, both for us the viewers but for your own self. Many of us trust your ears and we buy based on your opinion. Rankings will make everything better and I really look forward to it!
Heard these a few times with NAD M33, only in store so far. And first that comes to mind is that the produce a lot of sound for their size like you mentioned with bass. Would love to own these one day. Would recommend checking out 801 D4 as well if you get the chance, those are a lot of fun😁
had these in for a while running them on a SUUUPER simple NAD m10, and paird with (arguably overkill) REL s812, sadly not the carbon special, they sound phenomanal for the price, def love more power from a better amp, but even that little M10 did a great job setting them up with moderate listening levels, we also threw them on some Classe Pre,and monoblocks that was a treat, way overkill powerwise but sounded amazing.
Looks great & thanks for the quick sound check review, but… … can you guys provide an A/B test or comparison with the D2 & D3? What are the differences? Which model evolution(s) do you recon or not? Thanks so much.
Auditioned the 805D4's in Walnut powered by a McIntosh C22 and a Parasound A21+, then with the Rotel Michi X3. With the Michi one of the best imaging systems I have ever heard, the Parasound was disappointing by comparison: a collapsed soundstage and lack of air and detail. Incredibly precise, and in the listening space of 20' wide with a total depth of 84' (MLP 10' from speakers), the soundstage these speakers created with the Michi amp was impressively large, made even better with the addition of the REL T/7x and better still with the REL S/812 pair. I could not recommend the B&W/Michi pairing enough, incredible synergy was created. Ran double bi-wired with AudioQuest Rocket 88 for the HF and Rocket 44's for the LF.
@@BrianGarside I agree with this and would be interested in a comparison, though I feel like the tonal balance between the A21+ and the JC5 would be similar, and this I believe contributes to the fact that they don’t gel as nicely with the 805D4’s compared to the Michi X3
@@ns387241 tonally JC5 is more present than the A21. They are neutral as well. Unless your going for warm or bright tonality. But JC5 is notable to most check the reviews out. Not sure where Michi sits in that. Michi very well could be the better match.
Looks like a fantastic speakers. I like to hear that sounds similar to DYNAODIO.. Agree and I am wondering how it sounds when it is couple to Cyrus Amp.?
Having heard both speakers but not in the same system, i feel IMHO that the 805D4s blow the perlistens away. No competition. Reviews always try to minimise the difference. The dimension of sound, the soundstage prowess, resolution & detail of the 805D4s are simply to die for. Of cos ymmv.
@@therealshanelee hey Shane, I truly love your content. I have the Arendal 1723s monitors coming in. My question, do you prefer the Arendals 1723s monitors to the B&W CT 7.4 for movie watching? I have a PB3000 and Denon x4700. Thanks! Keep doing what you’re doing man 🙏🏽

I appreciate your review but in the beginning of your review you say this is not a comparison To other speakers yet that’s what you’ve been doing for the whole review. The question that you did not really dive into which would’ve been a great revisit if possible would have been how do they directly compare with the D3 How much more are you getting for the money? And is it in your opinion worth the difference of say you did an upgrade is it a better speaker than the previous generation Nargis by upgrades bye-bye your perception? That’s really what should’ve been in the review that a lot of people may be curious about
We had the D3's months ago. I'd be lying if I said I remembered exactly how they sound. So I wouldn't try and say it's 100% better or worse. Plus those D3's we're towers. And NO this is NOT a comparison. We're just referencing to what we have on hand 😉
@@therealshanelee I decided to get the 805 d3. Miles ahead of the 705 s2 for me. Also I had recently done an audition with the 800 line especially with 805 d4. After a lot of research I felt I enjoyed the 805 d3 more sound for sure but especially the ascetics. Not the biggest fan of the new style.
That sounds really impressive if you can draw comparisons to the Perlisten when it's a 2 way vs 3 way system with 2 bass woofers. The 805 is also missing the FST cone that the 804 have which makes it even more impressive. Darn expensive but a bargain compared to the other 800 series speakers. How about female vocals? Who holds the edge there? Does the B&W murder Perlisten?
It looks like B&W is starting to borrow from the classic Sonus Fabers from the the Franco Serblin era. The D3's copied the shape of the original Homage line with the wide front & tapering back. SF called this feature: the shape of the lute to eliminate the typical square box that most speaker designers were using at the time. It was Franco Serblins way of paying homage to the great Italian instrument craftsmen from Cremona Italy & taking that knowledge & inspiration into the modern era of speaker manufacturing. The D4's are now using leather on top, another feature that SF has been using for 30 years.
Sorry but it's just stupid to say a speaker in a special price range is better or worst than the other. It' just better or worst for you. If you spent a few 1000$ on a bookshelf speaker, believe me, it won't be a bad speaker. Every speaker above 1000$ is a good, damn good speaker. You just need to like the sound of it. A more expensive speaker is just build better but it won' t be a much better speaker. Especially if it is in the same price range. I am over 40 now and I just learned, that an expensive speaker isn't always the better sounding speaker. There is no benchmark, how a speaker have to sound to be good. If you spent a few 1000$ and you like the sound of a speaker? It's a very good - perfekt speaker. What people doesn't understand is, we've got all ears but we don't hear the same. We all hear different. So, how can you say a speaker is good or bad, if you don't hear like most of the other people? Some people love horn speaker, some hate it. Is a horn speaker bad or good? The perfect speaker should have a linear frequency response but nobody will ever make such a speaker. Not because it is impossible. NO, because it will sound like crap. You need as an example a dense in the 2k area. Without that, it will sound bad.
@@therealshanelee That's how it works but it's not right. Your viewers want to hear, this is good or better or worst than...., but it's still not right.

Hint: Open the box from the bottom, splay the flaps, turn it upside down, lift the box up and voila! Easiest way to unpack this speaker.
