    wow there were so many things I never knew... for example the Sewing.. never understood why it didnt work for me and now that you showed me, I am pretty sure I can make my "coop" mini map better, thanks!

    Awesome, this helped so much. I kind of tried using displacement without prior knowledge and this video explains why nothing would work! Excellent video, thank you.

    Is there a reason not to use the power of 2? I often use it myself and it works fine for me.

      Power of 2 is lower detail. Power of 3 is higher detail. The only reason to not use power of 4, is because it causes issues in game.

      hehe =D
      I did not know about the vertex tool when I started, so I kept trying for hours to make square blocks when I was to make something bow-ish.
      Then I figured Vertex-tool and done it in 1 minute instead. So yes, figuring such things out is really time-saving!

    This error appears when i try to compile and run the game: Trying to create a non-quad displacement! (entity 0, brush 1595)
    I've trying to find this brush in Ctrl+Shift+G, but it says that this brush id does not exist... Can someone help me?

    Hi i have a big problem. When i make displacements for a river so it goes down (rightclick.) In game i can walk throught it on the sides. How can i fix this? Like i clip through it :(

    Is it okay if my displacements are overlapping as long as I'm sewing them? I think you mentioned it was bad to overlap brushes.

    But what if the non-quad side displacement doesnt exist (entity 0, brush ... ) ?

    How can i move the camera while im on select mode, while im selecting the surface of the walls at once because when i change to camera with Shift+C then the walls get unselected. need help please.

      Enable "Arrow Key Nudge" in Tools>Options>2d Views
      Then set the snap to grid to the desired size. Hold SHIFT then hit an arrow key.

      Shift+arrow-move. Note that the offset is your grid spacing.

      Nice, thanks. I've been using Hammer for years and literally didn't know you could do this. All that time wasted on duplicating things manually with Shift+Drag.

    with the way the visibility engine handles displacements it renders objects behind it, right? is there a workaround, to let vvis handle it as a wall that i cant see through?

      Correct. From VVIS, displacements don't exist. You typically put a nodraw brush behind them to block visibility.

    Does the top roof need to be a displacement? As it's not using the paint alpha or paint geometry

      It won't be visible. You can skip the top roof altogether.
      If you can't see it, why make it?

      I know im two years late but some textures have grass and flowers "built in" as it were, atleast in HL2.

      +Danny playz Garry'smod don't use power of 4. Causes issues
