I just ordered new contacts for my 2008 model so hope that fixes my issue. I just bought some lithiums batteries for replacement. I'm done with Duracell's.
Note to all 512 owners, use only lithium AA batteries NOT alkaline and avoid the corrosion from happening at all.... I have had to replace the contacts twice on my Dec. 2008 Eotech 512 !
Possibly. On mine, the springs and contacts in the end of the battery compartment corroded up. I was able to get the spring and rubber cap out to clean them a few times but eventually the metal bar that crosses between the batteries got loose and wouldn’t stay in place.
@@Gospeed777 i’d start by looking in the bottom of the battery compartment with a flashlight. see if there’s any corrosion/white powdery stuff or like a sticky liquid, like from old batteries.
When I first stated looking for this kit, I searched everywhere with no luck. I set up “back in stock” alerts on 8-10 different websites and waited till one was available.
About to do this same repair. Great video. Thanks!

I was just thinking about the lithium AA batteries as an alternative for such an important piece of equipment. Good call!
How do you tell the manufacturer date?
Perfect.
What about the 10 year warranty?
@@freightshaker3690 no clue. This is an early 2000s model. 😉😂
Thanks for the video! What year 512 do you have?
Not sure, but It’s early 2000s. picked it up used from a buddy about 10 years ago after he had replaced it with an aim point.
Whoa. That's really great. @@kentuckyrangetime
U use a xps3 now but eotech is always a favorite
Yea. Lots of good options out there now. 13 years ago... not so much. Lol
My eotech 512 won't turn on do you think it could be this battery issue to?

@@kentuckyrangetime ok I should take apart both compartments? We're the batteries go in or the optic ?

Parts kit not available. Does anyone know where I can get the kit?

How can i get to the inside of the glass ?
No idea, I’ve never had to on mine. Is it fogged up or something?
It seems like mold. I disassembly the full unit and can reach the glass inside but the mold is between the first glass you look true
@@klane7 Have you checked with EOTECH?? It may have some level of factory support left on it?
@@kentuckyrangetime yeah i checked but its a 2017 unit. Its delamination of the 2 glasses that begins to seperate
