He kisses her hand, but then she pulls away when he tries to kiss her lips. He's completely in love with her, but she apparently wants to make sure he's sincere. I just wish I understood enough Spanish to know what they were saying (although I get the basic idea).

Is a poetic song, that explain the fullness love that they have. Praying God flor love, talking about family's diferences.
@ So I gathered. In French, they wonder which star or god brought them together, even if they must pay for a forbidden love. In Russian, they sing of two heavenly books: one about love (their story) and one about feuding (their families' stories). In English, the song is just disappointing. I think for this version, she's asking, "To what miracle of God do I owe this love in his eyes?" but I'm not sure. I usually do okay if I see Spanish lyrics, but I'm still not good at understanding it just from hearing it.
@@mcmptn Hello! You're right, that's exactly what it says. Here is an English translation of the song: lyricstranslate.com/en/el-balcon-le-balcon-balcony.html I'm glad you're showing interest in this version of the musical, even if it's not as professional as it is in French or Italy.
@@alxnoteblue7479 Thank you. That's actually a really sweet translation. However professional it may or may not be, it's still a MILLION times better than I could ever hope to sing, so I applaud these talented actors.
