I freaking love this band too. Discovered them juuuuuuuuust before Abyss was released at the start of the pandemic. Such awesome people. Was supposed to see them a couple years ago in Vancouver but due to atmospheric river washing out ALL the highways into Vancouver had to miss out. Going to see them in May for album release show FINALLY and am sooooo stoked. Video is very cool and the song reminds of the epicness of TWTSTL. I love how the human characters in this video are the band members, lol.
In 2020, before the pandemic, I had plans to see this amazing band in Detroit. Sadly, those plans got shelved as the world got shut down. Then Abyss came out in August, and that album is one of the best I've ever heard. And now Phantoma is coming out May 10! I seriously hear how Brittney's voice has evolved and changed because of her side projects like what she did for Gatewatch, and working with Arjen Lucassen for Fate of Man. I love how she is almost playful with the melodies and layering. Interestingly, I hadn't really thought about Scott's playing, but you hear the "upbeat playing" on Abyss (I can't remember if it is Legacy or Faster Than Light). But I like how Scott changes things up. Because Scott, I don't know why, feeds the analytical parts of my brain as I listen, and I thoroughly enjoy his work in this band. By the way, it's awesome that Scott sent you autographed drumsticks! I would love to have a pair of those. And it doesn't surprise me that Grant would teach your daughter guitar; he is a very down-to-Earth dude, very chill, just like they all are. I'm actually very interested to see how this album plays out, in terms of the music and story, as I was blown away by Apex and Abyss. After they got the Juno for Abyss, I really hope they can build up some metal cred for the radio stations in the US, because this band needs to be heard in the US market, just like other foreign bands do, like Bloodywood or Sabaton.
The flex on the drum sticks and guitar lessons aren't as impressive as they sound. You can get them at the concert, and grant offers the lessons on his web site for $60. Thans for the info. I was actually thinking this sounded a lot like an Arjen project, but you can't mistake Scott's drums.Make sure you definitely get out to see them!
Love the song, theme, and video! This is my speculation of the storyline. Humanity had finally unlocked true AI in the past(in songs universe), but one side kept it ethical, implanting it into robots to help humanity. But the human elites used it for their own personal gain. In the end, a war broke out, the earth is left destroyed, the only survivors from the good side are a few nomadic robots. The elites(along with their "bad" robots) rule over the biomes with an authoritarian hand. Brittbot stumbles across one of these biomes, amazed by the beauty of the green and glass(a display of what the earth used to be like when robotkind was still young). With high hopes, Brittbot enters the biome to present the base ai code she carries with her as a new hope to rebuild. The elite humans tell their army general(almost akin to the matriarch) to pull out their massively corrupt ai, kill Brittbot's companion, laugh at how weak and pathetic she is and send her back out into the distopian world. Brittbot realizes her ai has the power to revive, and begins to use that power to build up a new resistance. At some point, another epic war will break out... I may be overthinking it, but that is the vibe I'm getting so far.. Cant wait 🤘
Great reaction video, Buff! I am soooo excited for this new story/world/album. The music is so so good! I absolutely hope they are planning and able to give us the story in video form for all the songs on this one. I think that would be really awesome. I know there's been some controversy around the use of ai, but I think the WAY they went about it was so ethically done... the way it Should be. 🤘🏾💛
My first impression was that the video was really cool but the song was just okay. It's like the song took a backseat to the video. Then I listened to it on Spotify so I could just focus on the music. From the first few notes, I got goosebumps and I just wanted to listen to it over and over again. Green and Glass is an amazing song that gives us just a taste of the greater Phantoma story, which I am REALLY looking forward to. May 10th can't come soon enough!
