You brought back some precious memories. When I was very young, my best friend lived with her grandparents who owned and ran a Phillips 66 station in Amarillo, TX. She would ask me to go with her to the station during the times that she had to go with them. We had so much fun playing around there! There was a car wash that was a blast and sometimes her grandfather would allow us to sit on the lift and he would raise it up. He had some old cars that were perfect for little girls with big imaginations. I stayed friends with Tammye until she died last year from cancer at the age of 64. We met when we were 6 so all of these memories mean the world to me. Just wanted to share.
I remember sitting on the hood of our car at the drive in movies with my sisters watching a movie while mom and dad made out in the car. We could hear the movie through those old speakers you showed. My dad was a mechanic, so I remember seeing all those cool things you showed in his shop and other shops we used to go to for supplies. Since dad had no son's, he showed us girls how to take care of a car, and to this day I'm able to tell a mechanic exactly what I need done to my cars so I don't get "hoodwinked" thanks for this trip down memory lane. That place is great!
That was one of those old soap powder dispensers. From what I remember it was usually a pink kind of gritty powder that actually worked well for cleaning the grime off your hands!
WOW im 64 and remember 99.9% of this stuff. Had to put oil in my car in the 70's used that oil can and metal opener. The speakers for the movie theater i used many times.. i have 3 parking meters where my town here in Kansas got rid of ours. Thats a cool place.
Missing the glorious hair, but it's also looking sharp short. That place reminds me a lot of my grandma's house. What a cool place. Glad you had a nice time with the wife.
Great video! That is really cool with the old gas station. I remember some of that stuff from when I was a kid like the glass coke bottles, oil can spout, records and alot of stuff. The food looked awesome! I really enjoyed watching!
grill on the wall looks like form a 65-67 Chevy II Nova cool place great that someone has restored to period correct so that new generations can learn about our past.
Loved, loved this video. Brot back so many memories. Thanks for sharing and you look very nice with your new look. Thanks to your wife for a good job filming.
Def a safe .................. Cool place ............... Good times ...... I love , love , love small town diners ..I search for them when we travel... Good to see the two of you having fun !!!!!! PEACE !!!!!!!
BTW, people were much more slender on those days because there was little or no processed food or junk, and most people still lived rurally like us, and coming into town was a once holiday event, so most people didn't have easy access to soft drinks and packaged food. Just a thought.
what a cool way to repurpose an old garage. i imagine it would feel like staying in a museum as well being surrounded by all that history the current owners have included in the remodel. i tip my hat in appreciation to the current owners for what they have done to the place
Cool place to stay. I would guess the green pipe in the floor is where they connect the hose to fill the gas storage tanks. The ball in it is probably a float to stop the flow of fuel when the fuel came up to the top of the pipe
I don’t comment a lot man but I love your content some amazing stuff appreciate it man brings back some great memories of how life was back then and the people who fixes these are amazing man they keep the tradition of how back them was going and I love that
Thank you for sharing that would be a neat place to go look at. A lot of stuff I remember cuz I was born in 1955 and I grew up in the sixties and seventies so yeah. I don't get to travel so when I watch you I get to travel with you.
Hey man that stainless dispenser mounted to the wall in that bathroom would have used a granular type of soap back in the day. Pushing up on that rod it would dump a small pile out on your hands
Awesome! There’s an old DX station in a town close to me that would be awesome to be able to do something similar to this with it. Or to reopen it as a full service station with a worker that pumps your gas, check your fluids, and tire pressure like back in the day.
That would be neat to have a full service station like that up and running again. I can remember it as a kid riding with my grandma, they dud everything when she stopped for gas
@@CrazyQuady yep, me too. Back then I would ride next to my Mom standing up in a pickup and gas was like $0.30 a gallon. Mom always got like $10. worth. Sometimes we road in the back of the pickup and stand on the spare tire as we were standing up over the cab. There is no way I would have let my kids do that, not even just ride in the back on the wheel well.* 😳 But we did alot of Stuff I never let my kid's do. I swam in pond's. Walked on highways and through the woods. It's a wonder we never got hurt or stepped on a snake, which I did do when we were looking for arrowheads. I ran further up on a dry creek bed and stepped on a water moccasin and I would get up and fall again several times. They are really slick. He got me several times. Mom took me to the ER. Luckily it just broke the skin but didn't get deep enough to inject the venom. It helped it was back when those high top socks were in fashion. I think it saved me, that and falling on it. And thankfully Mom was with us then. This brings back alot of memories.
Was nice to see an old gas station . But miss your cooking ideas and truck camping ..you didn't have that same spark . Was ok but wasn't really u with that spark of life truck camping and amazing cooking ideas we all luv to see. God bless u n ur's .
'Pinky out to keep things classy'. That cracked me up!😂😅 Made me think of when Moe had to get after Larry & Curly while saying "WHERE'S YOUR MANNERS (slap)??!! At which point they poked out their pinky fingers while drinking soup from a bowl without a spoon. LOL. That place is really cool.! I lLove that retro stuff👊 So glad yall had a good time! I know its a long ways from where youre at, but if youre ever in texas the La Bahia state park in Goliad is a pretty cool camping spot. Theres an old spanish mission which was built by the spanish army in 1749 & played an impotant role in the Mexico/Texas revolutionary war around the time of the battle of the alamo. Anyhoo. Another GREAT video and tell the Mrs,, 'Awesome Blossom' for the great job filming!! Later brother and Peace👊 Terrell in Texas, Out.
Was a pony tail guy and beard just a couple of weeks ago, just got the same style of haircut as you for the first time since 1976 when I went into the Army. Beard is gone also. So far, I like it.

Correct! When I was growing up all of the restrooms had that type of soap dispenser in them. Good memories and times.
Pumice hand cleaner ..it was also white depending on the type..i still see these in certain shops near the sink in the grubby mechanics bathrooms..lol
Those old sopa dispenspers had powered soap
Half hour was not enough!!! Love that you love vintage and history!
What a cool place!
