That ex-military guy lied to you about jurisdiction off the base. I'm ex-military and the CID has the authority off base to do an investigation with out telling local police. Under the Posse Comitatus Act military police can not do local enforcement. (Traffic stops, drug bust, arrest person for j-walking). The CID has the same power as the US Marshall and there jurisdiction is all 50 States. Yes this is just a game but what that guy said is false.
I am current active military and while CID does have jurisdiction off base if conducting an investigation and CID is TECHNICALLY comprised of MP's anyone who is in CID would say so and would not just say "Im an MP" CID is very difficult to become a part of where as literally anyone can pass basic and AIT to become an MP. So I didnt hear or see them say they were CID anywhere in the video so technically they were breaking the law in the video as they have no jurisdiction off base as MPs. Hell Buggs even says in the video they are part of the "Merryweather" branch which is a contracting company, which would have no law enforcement jurisdiction whatsoever! Also just an add on Buggs also says "I can take you in for obstructing" Which is also not true. MP's even when on base can technically arrest you however it only counts as detaining because they do not actually send you to jail, they have to call a civilian police officer from the surrounding town/area to come on base and pick you up to take you to jail.
I lived on fort Carson in CO for 2 years. Military police can and do use lights and siren off post all the time it's not against the law. Ive seen with my own eyes in person many times fort carson military police drive using lights and sirens through Colorado springs back to post. Ive also seen them go on Mutual Aid with the city and county at PPCC college lockdown one time 2 or 3 miles off post before. Not to mention every time a unit gets deployed or returns from deployment they get a police escort from the City Airport back to post by military police full lights and sirens. Also there are civilians who work as MPs, and they are state recognized post certified. If any military police officer civilian or active duty starts pursing a suspect you will have the full support of the city police 100% positive. Even though this is a game if it's a military truck or any military property that was stolen or missing and military police come across it off post it's still military jurisdiction they can still use their police vehicle lights and siren off post and if the person who stole it is active duty and then they can't make an arrest off post. They get from the city police department the same recognition as any other police department.
That cop, in real life would of been suspended or even fired for disrupting your investigation. it could probably even be obstruction of justice. But that cop was definitely not ex-military.
It seems the DOJ Police have to be updated with MP's. Under Federal Law, they are supposed to be granted the same courtesies as a FBI, DEA, ATF, or other federal agent.
Anthony Metcalf Part of the government yes. But look up the Posse Comitatus Act and you'll figure it out. The mailman is part of the government too, yet he can't arrest you....
Big Z Lacrosse Network There is a difference between a federal fucking officer and a motherfucking mailman, seriously, I get your point but use a better example. Seriously.
please do i'm sick of the back and forth with officers when i'm just trying to ticket a guy for expired plates (and yes i'm in doj clan) this stuff needs to be fix polecat.
lol I showed this to all my military buddies including an mp and local cop. They got so pissed it was hilarious. Military police do have jurisdiction off base, they actually do it state by state. Some states allow them all police powers off base while others don't. They also don't need to notify any local departments of anything. I worked in Wisconsin for the district attorneys office years ago doing interviews with the victim witness program. All the local departments would get so pissed we were out in their backyard armed and wearing badges talking to people without letting them know.
Calmindigweed American MPs also have marks that identify them as MP. It's hilarious when a non American says America is broken then gets something completely wrong.
@@wesleyhopkins3036 I never said that they didn't do that in the US either, but in the video they clearly do not do that. Also, when I said America is broken I was refering to the massive amounts of people incarcerated for non-violent drug crimes. Which admitedly is a problem in a lot of places.
I've never gotten upset after watching a DOJ video, but this one actually did it for me. I think because after being military law enforcement and seeing the blatant ignorance or lack of knowledge about MA's/MP's/SF's and the misconceptions about what we as Military Law Enforcement can do just annoyed me. And for the guy who was like, he is ex-military. Wut?? You had everything ass backwards.
@samclevenger Yeah man... military and civilian cops work very closely together. As a former MP Sergeant, I can tell you I did take calls for service off base and had numerous occasions where I would run code off base. It would be different if buggs and polecat were stopping vehicle. But stopping them and taking up the first 20 minutes of the episode just because polecat activated his light... c'mon!!!
Captain Athens No, it doesn't violate that act. That was established In the late 1800's, I believe. There are many instances where Military Police can operate off base. In this scenario... the tanker was stolen on base, it's 100% Jurisdiction. Some bases have "Base Policy" that Military Police may not drive off base for any reason... but the pursuit of a stolen vehicle, or any large felony supersedes any such base policy. But for the most part, I operated off base nearly every day.
This was kind of painful to watch. The tone in some of these cops voices legit sounded like they were butt hurt and they were so busy busting your balls about you doing your job that they kind of killed it for me :( I liked the scenario though.
If something like this happened and the federal government or Department of Defense authorized MPs to find a stolen military vehicle then the MPs have jurisdiction off base
Ha you obviously know nothing about stolen military property and possible terrorist operations CID would be all over that military police would absolutely involved as soon as local pd was informed they would get involved. These "cops" after seeing the original order would of helped if not im highly sure their Chief if not Chief than Governor would have a few colorful words why they let a tanker full of high octane fuel, rocket full, jet full, or diesel get away. Let alone enough to make an air to fuel bomb big enough to mess up a good chunk of city.
Officer (Charlie32): The problem that we're having over there is.... Polecat: ...That is a situation completely unrelated to what is going on in my vehicle right now. Officer Across Street: Hey Charlie32 get over here. Officer (Charlie32): (Sounding dejected) 10-4... (sighs) Lol!
If it was me I would have gotten someone else to show up in a military Jeep and said “you are interfering with a official military investigation leave now or be arrested for treason”
Would have been perfect if after all the harassment, you showed up to the tanker in hazmat suit and was like, "this is why we didn't ask for your help, top secret stuff, you have 48 hours to get treated" just to mess with them
That's actually not true. Their jurisdiction is only on their base. Yes, they are full police officers, but that doesn't matter. City A's police officers can't go and have jurisdiction in City B.
Polecat please do this scenario! You and your buddy are rich business men and then you board a plane a few minutes after takeoff your plane had mechanical failures and you make a water landing somewhere in the ocean and the police have to find and rescue you or you can make it an inside job and both of you were trying to fake your death
Actually... the Military Jurisdiction is coordinated with the state so unless you know what regulations the state has given with the MP then you cannot be for sure that MP can or Cannot pull someone over or run code out side of base. I've seen multiple MP's pull people over 10 Miles away from the base.
They have signs posted aswell that you are subject to military police jurisdiction or a sign that said something like that. I know that there are no signs posted around los santos or anything but, it would add just a little more fun to the episodes than being pulled over 6-7 times before they get to do anything
Dustin King under martial law the military police does have jurisdiction and when police are need helping I know this because I know Military Police officers.
Jurisdiction does not apply to Military Police in the event of an investigation that involves civilians. DOD do not have to inform state police of such activities due to classification. Although this varies by state, it would apply to Polecat's RP scenario.
Erick Gaming they wouldn't bother them if they didn't use lights and sirens. Regardless of what they were doing they cannot use lights and sirens out of the military base.

I am aware of a military base where there is a state route that runs through two different sections, there is a fenced guarded base on one side, and base housing on the other, MRS 0atrol the state route for traffic violations...It's possible that the state route is considered federal property, but I don't think it is.
Never in my 6 years of service have I heard of an MP being denied jurisdiction over an active investigation. He obviously was never attached to an MP unit or else he'd know that. He would also know that we have agencies similar to he FBI that work directly with civilian counter parts.
SAMCRO JT Fan Ok, then under what federal law/act gives them that authority? Because I know a law/act that makes that illegal, the Posse Comitatus Act.
You guys should do FBI or CIA for Secret Service or something like that in a future criminal run, so that you guys actually have jurisdiction and are able to run code legally in the unmarked cars that would be cool.
Yes and no. You would have to define what you perceive as rank or outranking someone. When most military police graduate their academy's or training (for me it was MA "A" School out of Lackland AFB) and get their badges, they are somewhat federalized. Not in the same aspect like the coast guard as they are truly federal law enforcement. However, its universally accepted that Military law enforcement act on a federal level. So with that said would they outrank a local or state agency? No, but their jurisdiction can depending on circumstance supersede that of a local or state agency. As an MA, I pulled over several enlisted and officers on and off base that out ranked me by paygrade and well commission. However, my positional authority superseded their rank/paygrade etc while in my capacity as a law enforcement representative.
Julius T I'm not trying to fight but I see where you are coming from but I lived on a military base and I been talking to my cousin who does work with them when need. Have a good night
Polecat, you guys should do a scenario where you or Buggs approaches an officer and explains that you are being followed. Then have the other snipe (you or Buggs) during the conversation, like a hitman. I suggested this on your 3/14 DOJ video and was met with a lot of support.
You should have said you were NCIS and the theft happened on base, that would have given you authority to operate off base. Should redo this one or with another vehicle! Love the episodes keep them up!

Actually if we want to be technical, there is no limits to an mp using their sirens or driving at high rates of speed, but the mp or mp(s) must have the appropriate police department present during the entire time that they carry out their duties off base
Andrew Mai not the officer in game I've been looking at comments of people claiming to be enlisted and it's bullshit. you click on there channel and it's some whiny teenager that has posted Minecraft videos or something like that.
Tooshort it's called stolen valor and it's against the law. when you have people claiming to be in the military and saying shit that isn't true. it creates a problem. not only that but it's disrespectful. to be in the military you have to give up so much and those "kids" turn into adults and then progress into full blown stolen valor. I saw some dude in Marine bdu and off base and just grabbing some food. I personally was in Civilian clothes. but I approached him because he didn't have his pants tucked in to his boots and the biggest give away was he had some Justin Bieber type of hair. it was bullshit. I asked to see his CAC card he refused. he then decided to leave shortly after but I made him make a fool of himself in front of everyone. people like that make me sick.
Jake, I've ran into one mild case of SV. SV doesn't bother me that much since I've been out. I see it as sad, but I don't get all mad anymore. I still struggle with folks claiming to be vet's but I guess it's one in the same. I think what can be taken from this was that the content and role play of this video rubbed active duty, veterans, fans of military police, super fans (stolen valor types) the wrong way. So sure, some have commented without have representing themselves accurately. Ignore it. Its easy to tell who may have served vs who has never served. Feel bad for them, but don't let it upset you.
I think where the confusion is they are not MPs at all they are Marry-weather, which is a Paira military organization and a completely sepreat group from the US armed forces so they are more of an militia group than mp
I like your videos and don't comment, but this got me quite angry. I don't know about the laws in the U.S. In my country the MP's have jurisdiction everywhere and the legal right to arrest anyone interfering with their work.
A great episode! I don't understand jurisdictions and such but was great hearing you arguing it out with them. So funny when you actually found the tanker and ran up with your rifle :) "Is the radio dead?" Lol
MPs actually do have some jurisdiction off base. I grew up in the military and still live on one. MPs patrol off base and the town it’s around all the time.

you should be FBI next...see what they say about that
"I thought it was like milk or something" had me dead.
MP's are supposed to be treated like federal agents.
As Federal LEOs, don't MPs have jurisdiction everywhere?
Some of these guys either got banned or suspended
Wish those cops would had stood their ground and kept talking to Polecat. They had every right to talk to him, but Polecat owned them!...LOL!!
The best ending would have been the gang members shooting at the cops to make a chaotic situation even better.
I’m surprised they got to drive away free
polecat324 in real life military personal can go out of jurisdiction
Actually if we want to be technical, there is no limits to an mp using their sirens or driving at high rates of speed, but the mp or mp(s) must have the appropriate police department present during the entire time that they carry out their duties off base
so much stolen valor in these comments kids acting like they are enlisted.
Julius T what branch you serve in?
Hooyah Navy!!! Did you serve to?
I think where the confusion is they are not MPs at all they are Marry-weather, which is a Paira military organization and a completely sepreat group from the US armed forces so they are more of an militia group than mp
Please do this!!
Get Jeff to be a senator or just a wealthy man you and Buggs can be bodyguards and have zach try and assassinate him!!!
Polecat knows the laws, seems legit.
Do a FIB patrol
They'd still get shit from the cops. lmao
FBI?
@@Acco-yx4ni Federal Bureau Of Investigation. Ever watched Criminal Minds???
@@Acco-yx4ni Gta version is FIB. USA irl is FBI
I'm loving the longer videos, keep up the great work.
19:00 Polecat puts on his daddy voice.
bro ik im late but you guys actually do have jurisdiction over them
I really like these episodoes with military scenarios
The officer at the beginning at 5:00 had played the star trek film in the background 😂
The mp has every right to have jurisdiction over CHP because its government property
polecat stay going off on somebody ... i just love it 😂😂❤️
But mp does have jurisdiction over most police officers. Really guys
Polecat that the most wonderful episode I've seen! Great work, it's like a movie! Thanks guys for doing that one!

Military Police Officers do in fact have full jurisdiction when they are off of the base.
Do bomb on bus (Speed) episode
WillAke94 I thought the same thing the other day
WillAke94 they did

He did
Joshua Hidalgo no
MPs actually do have some jurisdiction off base. I grew up in the military and still live on one. MPs patrol off base and the town it’s around all the time.
Your pay grade in the military is your rank
Not entirely true but yeah
33:45 Buggs 'i would like to drive a cop car too' OfficerSolo ' WELL THATS NOT GONNA HAPPEN UNDER MY WATCH' I'm dead XD
these cops r pissing me off
You guys should do a video where you are pretending to be the "FIB" and your hunting down someone but your really assassin's
When your in a pursuit call 911 tell them to slow down then iver slow down or go in a pursuit like if you like
Catherine Ashwell-Rice grammer you know it?????

Bryce Harper oops
Military police had complete jurisdiction off base. We can do all law enforcement duties off base
