As a casual mid laner I always check top or bottom lane if they have difficulty in their lanes. A mid laner is like the older brother of the family, you need to to help others If they need it and helping the one who can carry in the early game since mid laners have good damage in that time
Roaming is my favorite thing about playing mid lane :) its way easier to roam as a mid laner than it is when you're a support. Whenever i attempt roaming as a supp the enemy takes advantage of that and ganks my squishy adc :(

Have a look at Hell' Devil's recent mid roaming guide - its more gameplay than tutorial, but its a nice compliment to Po's guide here. Him as Orianna and the enemy Ahri are playing cat & mouse with fake roams.

xD, This is one of the mistakes I see. In low elo people don't know how to set up flanks and play around the first mid outer turret being down. That's why it's much more reliable to roam around the map and to take control of the game!
Depends on your champion - are they a mobile champ, and can they take turrets quickly? Its a sad sight watching an Ahri with her ult available pinging her feeble aa at her turret instead of roaming.
@@stevelaw3886 well I use Orianna and I only get out of lane to help jg take objectives now. I don't know when to roam anymore but from past experience, I'm doubting my teammates to even notice I'm ganking them even if I ping them and well, it wastes my time ://
Ok, orianna is a more teamfight oriented champion so staying in mid is one of her strengths, however that is not to say that you should never leave your lane. You can leave for short amounts of time to help with certain objectives and also use your impactful ult during teamfights. Also dont forget to ping when your enemy laner is missing and shove waves so they miss farm if they roam.

Yup! But it isnt only for the side lanes. Roaming can also get yourself insanely fed as well!

As support you should still try to roam but first make sure your adc is safe and try to only commit to roams that are likely to work!
