Very Special, indeed! What a wonderful atmosphere... encouragement, generations of Yorkie men/boys.... absolutely heartwarming. This is what the hobby should be doing today: giving praise to some other exhibitor, in the middle of talking about their own accomplishments. What an example of honor, respect and dignity to show those youngsters who are watching! From the judge talking about the birds themselves being the most important aspect of judging (5:54) to Brian K talking about 'the change of management' with a newcomer learning from the 'old hand' (12:58). All in all, it was such a pleasant, satisfying episode... I forgot I was watching a video... all those gentlemen felt like such friendly people, I may have to consider moving to Yorkshire. Well done to all the YCC! Thank you, Matt for a much needed reminder there are still gentlemen in the hobby.
"Likewise you know, they've done all right here today, we've got second best today which was fine. We're totally happy with the winner today, really pleased with Steve. Steve's got a really, really good team of birds, so we're really happy to see that. Yeah, just happy to be in amongst it really. We want to see good birds winning." (25:36) So wonderful. Just admirable. To be imitated.
I live in castleford, and I've took on 2 canaries a male and female, they came from 2 different people and the female has the longest nails I've seen, they have corkscrewed and she gets caught on things, I've tried every vet in castleford but non will do her nails, she has scales also and mites which I'm treating, I'm so scared to do it myself and the scales will need treatment too but I don't know how to do it myself ( and I'm petrified ill do something wrong) I was told Holly house is the only one around that will do exotic pets but they want 55 pound just for a consultation, that's before they do her nails so I'm dreading what it will cost! Could anybody on here give me any advice on places that will cut her nails at a non extortionate price, that are local to me in castleford area? Is there not any one who offers mobile bird trimming and scale removal at all (definitely a market there),they also expect me to travel all way to Moor allerton but I suffer from agoraphobia don't drive and I'm don't have a clue how to get there so there's a lot of barriers there, plus they don't offer a payment plan,if anybody can give me any advice on this,I just want the poor little thing to be happy and comfortable, once they have been done once I will be able to keep them healthy with better perches etc..( as it looks like she had the dowel ones only in her cage which hasn't helped)
Hi Paula thanks for the message, there’s a how to video here How to trim a bird's claws | The Canary Room Top Tips ruclips.net/video/mBqOoT0d570/видео.html That may help you. A pair of nail clippers will do the job and you’ll see the vein in the nail. If you’re unsure clip them long in the first instance. As for the scaly mite on the legs you can get a product from Johnson’s (you’ll find them on amazon) like a cream that you can administer to the legs failing that a little touch of Vaseline will do a similar job, essentially suffocating the mite. Try not to worry too much , even if you clip a vein a little dab of Vaseline will stem the bleeding quickly
Absolutely lovely show Matt. So good to see the legends of the fancy. Long may it last. Brilliant. Please keep up your great work.
I was always told that the Yorkshire is the "Gentleman" of our hobby. Based on your episodes, Matt so are those who keep them. Stunning birds 👌
