Just came back from Frieren vs Aura. It was phenomenal, the build up from Frieren past up to Himmel just to show how much her growth as mage to fight Aura was truly breathtaking.
The YOASOBI project started as novels written into songs, & every single song released is based on a novel. It's basically songwriting that harkens back to the days where bards still roam the lands, where songs were essentially tales & stories, meant mostly for commemorating notable events & people, to be passed on future generations as pieces of history, instead of modern day songwriting where songs were mostly entertainment products. YOASOBI simply brought back the way songs used to be written & gave them a modern twist in arrangements.

How anyone could not like this intro is beyond me. Maybe because I am older but the more I watched the show the more the OP hit me. I was sad when they changed it. Its perfect.

It's not sad actually. It just heartwarming show that make you cry because of how beautiful and meaningful the journey they had. it really beautiful that hit you until you cry
What is sad? I feel sad, but the message of the story is to live in the present. As a viewer and a hopeless romantic I feel sad, because Frieren just finally started to get her feelings for Himmel when it was too late.

It's because they don't understand the lyrics since they're in Japanese. It's the same clowns that said the Hidden Inventory opening of JJK was upbeat. They translated Yuusha to Brave, but typically, Yuusha is translated to Hero. If you even understand a bit of the story it's immediately understood that the song is about Himmel. The song imo sounds disjointed because that reflects Freiren's feelings toward Himmel. She is sad because she wish she took time to know him better, but the story is largely about Freiren processing her feelings about Himmel. She doesn't know how to feel or think about the time they had, just that it was important to her and she wants to understand why and it's kind of a bittersweet melancholy type of story. It's kind of like how she keeps Himmel's ring, but in a box with other random stuff, never put two and two together the meaning of Himmel giving her a mirror lotus ring, but when she lost the ring she endlessly searched by herself until she found it. That is Freiren in a nutshell.

Lmao, I just read the manga then I couldn't stop myself from crying. 😂 This song isn't sad it's just touching. I really can't stop imagining how good it'd be if they could spend more time but that'd not what the story about. The story is about her journey after his death tracing the time they spent together in the past. Well, maybe it's a good thing that Frieren isn't an emotional person otherwise the story would be dark. Anyways the song is really good, it depicts the "leisure" and many different emotions from reminiscing things of the past. I love it
Personally for me it precisely because Frieren isnt emotional is why it hits harder, it felt a lot sadder. Cause to us human, all this comes naturally but to her it's something that she need to learn, but not before when things already happened and she unable to change anything. She was left with the aftermath that she has to deal with, and thats really such a lonely journey.
Even just the start of the journey alone already hit shit damn hard. The whole journey is motivated by intense profound regret, that despite having spent 10 whole years with the gang, & despite knowing that humans are short-lived creatures, she never once tried to know Himmel better, while Himmel evidently kept her in his thoughts the whole time. Everyone has their regrets, yet very few go on to spend a good chunk of their lives doing stuff, profound, monumental stuff, to make up for said regrets. It's just as Eisen put it, the years Frieren spent with them amounted to less than 1/100 of her life so far, yet that less than 1/100 ended up changing her life forever.

The lyrics ate Frieren to Himmel. They are my favorite couple in anime history. Their bond has something so tender.....unique and unconditional like an ever-lasting-- old-couple kind of love overcoming death and time itsself. I hope they'll be reunited in the after life in the end.❤
Its all because Himmel never gave up even though he knew Frieren would most likely never get the feelings in his lifetime. He just loved her for her and thats honestly the best way to picture love. Really nice touch too that Himmel never actually settled for anyone else
I know almost nothing about this show except that Freiren’s sense of time is super fast and that she probably lives way longer than a normal person. I got this idea from another comment, but I love the idea that the chorus being faster than the rest of the song represents time flying by from her perspective. The concept gives me chills.

I will be honest, I didn't really like this opening at first, however the more I watched and understood the characters it definitely grew on me, now it's one of my favorites for this season and I never skip it, I loved the ending too

I didn't like this song the first time I heard it when Yoasobi released it. But day after day when I watched Frieren, I tried to not skip the opening and I started to like it. And guess what? I LOVE this song! ❤ Guess I've to thank the anime for this.
I kept seeing this song everywhere on Instagram reels and even used it for one of mine because I loved it immediately, I'm glad that now I finally know where it's from (as in anime, I already knew who the artists were). I haven't watched this anime since I read vol. 1 of the manga and couldn't get into it, I will read vol. 2 and then see if I want to continue the series. I don’t know why I never thought that it could be from an anime. This song was the second song I heard by them and it got me into listening to more of their songs and I love them😊

Okay, so while this absolutely delivers the meaning, which the video above gets wrong in many spots, the wording is frankly very awkward here, only designed to make it singable in english (which they do ruclips.net/video/ZxRQjB8-KOQ/видео.html). It does not retain the vibe, adds forced flourish to what was plain and striaghtforward japanese, and results in a few clumsy sentences. I don't like it, and as far as translating goes, I'd prefer something more direct albeit not singable in the same melody. Some anime subs have a good one, but haven't found anything satisfying on youtube, honestly.

It's not sad actually. It just heartwarming show that make you cry because of how beautiful and meaningful the journey they had. it really beautiful that hit you until you cry
What is sad? I feel sad, but the message of the story is to live in the present. As a viewer and a hopeless romantic I feel sad, because Frieren just finally started to get her feelings for Himmel when it was too late.

It's because they don't understand the lyrics since they're in Japanese. It's the same clowns that said the Hidden Inventory opening of JJK was upbeat. They translated Yuusha to Brave, but typically, Yuusha is translated to Hero. If you even understand a bit of the story it's immediately understood that the song is about Himmel. The song imo sounds disjointed because that reflects Freiren's feelings toward Himmel. She is sad because she wish she took time to know him better, but the story is largely about Freiren processing her feelings about Himmel. She doesn't know how to feel or think about the time they had, just that it was important to her and she wants to understand why and it's kind of a bittersweet melancholy type of story.
It's kind of like how she keeps Himmel's ring, but in a box with other random stuff, never put two and two together the meaning of Himmel giving her a mirror lotus ring, but when she lost the ring she endlessly searched by herself until she found it. That is Freiren in a nutshell.

This song isn't sad it's just touching. I really can't stop imagining how good it'd be if they could spend more time but that'd not what the story about.
The story is about her journey after his death tracing the time they spent together in the past.
Well, maybe it's a good thing that Frieren isn't an emotional person otherwise the story would be dark.
Anyways the song is really good, it depicts the "leisure" and many different emotions from reminiscing things of the past.

Personally for me it precisely because Frieren isnt emotional is why it hits harder, it felt a lot sadder.
Cause to us human, all this comes naturally but to her it's something that she need to learn, but not before when things already happened and she unable to change anything. She was left with the aftermath that she has to deal with, and thats really such a lonely journey.
Even just the start of the journey alone already hit shit damn hard. The whole journey is motivated by intense profound regret, that despite having spent 10 whole years with the gang, & despite knowing that humans are short-lived creatures, she never once tried to know Himmel better, while Himmel evidently kept her in his thoughts the whole time. Everyone has their regrets, yet very few go on to spend a good chunk of their lives doing stuff, profound, monumental stuff, to make up for said regrets. It's just as Eisen put it, the years Frieren spent with them amounted to less than 1/100 of her life so far, yet that less than 1/100 ended up changing her life forever.

The lyrics ate Frieren to Himmel. They are my favorite couple in anime history. Their bond has something so tender.....unique and unconditional like an ever-lasting-- old-couple kind of love overcoming death and time itsself. I hope they'll be reunited in the after life in the end.❤
Its all because Himmel never gave up even though he knew Frieren would most likely never get the feelings in his lifetime. He just loved her for her and thats honestly the best way to picture love. Really nice touch too that Himmel never actually settled for anyone else

I know almost nothing about this show except that Freiren’s sense of time is super fast and that she probably lives way longer than a normal person. I got this idea from another comment, but I love the idea that the chorus being faster than the rest of the song represents time flying by from her perspective. The concept gives me chills.

I kept seeing this song everywhere on Instagram reels and even used it for one of mine because I loved it immediately, I'm glad that now I finally know where it's from (as in anime, I already knew who the artists were). I haven't watched this anime since I read vol. 1 of the manga and couldn't get into it, I will read vol. 2 and then see if I want to continue the series. I don’t know why I never thought that it could be from an anime. This song was the second song I heard by them and it got me into listening to more of their songs and I love them😊

Okay, so while this absolutely delivers the meaning, which the video above gets wrong in many spots, the wording is frankly very awkward here, only designed to make it singable in english (which they do ruclips.net/video/ZxRQjB8-KOQ/видео.html).
It does not retain the vibe, adds forced flourish to what was plain and striaghtforward japanese, and results in a few clumsy sentences.
I don't like it, and as far as translating goes, I'd prefer something more direct albeit not singable in the same melody. Some anime subs have a good one, but haven't found anything satisfying on youtube, honestly.
