I've been binging Letterkenny for the past few days and I never thought that the same series that made me laugh at "Canada Goose" would choke me up with a somber song and a smiling Squirrely Dan
I saw Judee perform this live, twice, at the Troubadour in the early 70s, opening for Jimmy Webb. The second time, we went back just to see Judee. She was magically talented, funny and charismatic. Much later I found out we had practically been neighbors. She would have been a hoot to know.
Letterkenny brought me here. This is a gorgeous version of Judee Sill’s amazing song. It took me down a Judee Sill rabbit hole! I came of age in the 70’s yet Judee’s brilliance evaded me then....only to be a gem, now newly discovered. Of all the covers, including Mama Cass!, this is my favorite and loved it in the show.
Frida Hyvönen does an excellent, absolutely excellent, version of this wonderful Judee Sill song. Bravo for keeping Sill's stunning melody alive with such emotion.
This is straight up gold and amazing. I've heard it several times over the years but right now it is blasting me across all cosmic dimensions... Thank you Frida and Judee and everyone else involved.
100% agree with ya. Pell, Frida Hyvönen, Tune-Yards, Fake Shark Real Zombie, Seven Lions have all been Letterkenny discoveries. I'd say its been one of the most consistent shows for great music
This is so.....calming and peaceful. I had a super rough day, and this came on, and now I feel some peace...thank you..for singing my gloom away. Professor Dewey L.
first time I heard this sang by Cass Elliot then I listened to the writer of the song Judee Sill. What a fantastic melody to really cool lyrics. Just an outright soulful pretty song
Just heard this amazing song on the Minx last nite.. moved to tears by Sills voice and lyrics.. have to check out Letterkenny now.. amazing song.. how is it I never heard it before on my 70 years on this planet ...
Everyone is talking about Judee Sill. I'll be honest and say I never knew either of them till this episode. I will also say I heard Nirvanas Man Who Sold The World before David Bowie's. I prefer Nirvanas cover and I prefer this cover. Each to their own at the end of the day
@taildragger51 That's a brilliant idea. Youre right, she has the ideal voice. Don't suppose she ever will though. I still think the best version is the original, Judee Sill. You can hear the emotion.
Never would have expected to hear a Judee Sill cover in Letterkenny, caught me off guard. Jared Keeso is a fucking indie music nerd. I still prefer the original song though.
wargrave232 is so right. i love frida's other stuff, but it's almost like she didn't take the time to figure out the song's real chords...judee used a lot of chords in inversion and things that are hard to work out by ear.
@@charleslsegal Doctor, we have found the problem! Your fun quote implies that you apparently are using your EYES to determine the increased “beauty” of this cover version, when what you should be using are your EARS! 🤣Just kidding. But seriously, when the comments and 👍 are 80% in favor OF THIS COVER VERSION, perhaps the 20% who behold a vastly outvoted opinion should reconsider their mistake. 🤷 Enjoy either version, they both are nice!
sorry, but this is musical butchery, the piano harmony is a really poor version of the rich and majestic harmonic setting of the original. Fine voice, but this is a completely different song, light years below the original.
You sings a good song, and that's what I appreciates abouts you
Is THAT what you appreciate about me?
Hard yes.
Let's take about 20% off over there Squirrely Dan
Lol for thia whole thread.
Well said!:)
Big shoutout to Letterkenny for introducing me to this...
Frida ferda!
Werd letterkennys music is really unique and they do a great job of picking the last thing youd expect to be used while it fits amazingly.
@@anonymous5909 I completely agree.
Chase Brooks I'm so happy... No one ever says yes when I ask them if they've seen letterkenny!
Can confirm.
Lets take about 5 to 10 percent off there, Squirrelly Dan
Oh yeah. Hey! Look at you ground. 😂
@Jane Nonymous fuck can he run.
That’s a Texas-sized 10-4, good buddy.
To be fair...
Just binged Letterkenny. Watching and realized how beautiful this song is. Man they picked great music.
i didnt ever expect to tear up watching this show but damn
Truly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard....and thats whats I appreciates abouts it
It was written in 1971 or 1972 by Judee Sill.
And The Kiss is even more beautiful
and thats what i appreciate about you, now give your a b*lls a tug and get after it
Oh is that what you appreciate about it?

Indeed, Judee Sill flies low like a silver angel, and they say that we Scandinavians lacks Spirituality...
@@erikwesterberg7220 - Not with Frida on your side. Wonderful vocalist.
I was listening to this song with my pals the other dayy
Moved to tears by Sqirrelly Dan's face and this song on Letterkenny!?!?! "What sorta backward fuckin' pageantry is that????"
Yeah I cried too
Yep.
same here.
Me too! 💖😊😌

My favorite version of this song. So beautiful. ❤

I like this stripped down version. It sounds more yearning and vulnerable. She has a gorgeous voice!
The original by Judee Sill was stripped down !
I'm really rootin for ya dan, but go ahead and summit mt what's yer point

I love the fact all the comments are letterkenny related

I'm a huge Judee fan, and I love this version. Makes me want to sing along
Frida...ferda!!
Wheel, snipe, celly!
They had this song playing in end credits of Dyck’s Slip Out, a good way to tease the song
That's what I appreciates about yous miss Katies
Letterkenny introduced me to this. Not sure who lines up the tunes for the show? But well done. On my way to itunes to search Frida Hyvönen

Simply amazing :) Beautiful Frida.
not an easy song to cover. I love the original but Frida has given me so many epic moments too. Viva la Sverige !!

Thanks to letterkenny for showing me this
Wow what a cover! Such a beautiful powerful voice
I really appreciate the original. Yet this version and her voice do not only a stellar job but total justice to the original. 🎉
Ya it doesn't get any better than this does it folk's . God bless all of ya
Excellent, excellent arrangement. Beautiful.
Yeah, You're looking for a couple of puck-heads driving a Tonka truck.
I think you posted to the wrong video.
KuptisOriginal I think you posted to the wrong video.
Has anyone seen our little Dicks?
Heartbreakingly beautiful, like the original.
Thank you Jared Keeso. And Letterkenny.
Favorite episode of Letterkenney. An homage to handmaid’s tale! And with J Rock, too!
Cannot believe did not spot the J-Rock. Crossover episode!!!! The best. Knew there was something lovable and mischievous about that pious man :)
This is a Judee Sill song, a flawlessly beautiful artist.

Cass Elliot did an amazing cover of this song.

Beautiful
Beautiful cover my dear
Gorgeous 🤟❤️❤️
So much better than the original.
Agree
Stunning.

YEW!
I first heard this by The Hollies. I'll do some research and see what it actually means.
Check out mama Cass Elliott's version it's on RUclips.
Brilliant
a touch of Joni Mitchell in her voice.
Letter Kenny!!
wondrous
Great one
Why on earth you were given negative feedback for that comment escapes me, you're right.
Thanks Griffin
To what do I owe the pleasure of being double Dycked?

Why don't they ever follow up with Lavina and Squirrely Dan's romance???❤😢

Tic toc ....
Love you Judee
Who else is here because of a couple missing Dycks?
Fuck can they run

Sorry, this version lacks the magic of the original by the late Judee Sill. Mama Cass version not that greateither.
Were you going through all the versions too? hahaha.
Don't agree at all. I find Judees version a bit boresome
Not even close … this version is better in pretty much every way.

Boring
bothersome mannerist singing. abuse, no respect
So clueless. This version is sung with much more sorrow then flips the script with uplifting, ethereal notes yearning for heaven.
