    Thank you, as always, to @goed.gedaan for his excellent editing.
    PS - If you're wondering why my videos will always be in English, the answer is simple: more people in the world speak English than Dutch. I want this channel to be accessible and understandable for as many people as possible.

    So fun that you mentioned the 3th AlbertHeijn. I live in the village where the first AlbertHeijn was! It’s removed a long time ago but a remake version is placed on the Zaanse Schans.
    And wowww your Video in Beeld & Geluid! That’s so great!!! You make special video’a about the Netherlands, even I learn from it and I’m Dutch!

    Congratulations Jovie with that honor ! You are showing me parts of my country I missed when I still lived in the city of my birth, Amsterdam, that I left over 40 years ago and where I lived the first 40 years of my life. I will always be a little homesick for my little country ! Thank you for your informative channel ! ❤❤

    Watching your videos has really helped -- our oldest child is there now (first year at THUAS) but he has a million everyday questions about Netherlands and the Hague....on top of navigating living on his own in a new city, he's dealing with the many restrictions (adjusting really well), but your videos have been a wonderful + virtual resource we return to again and again. Congrats on the wonderful recognition (for you and Daan). Keep up the wonderful work.

    About the Fallon Hotel; I went inside to take pictures when it was being renovated.
    The well-known dutch tv series 'Celblok H' has also been recorded here before it was rebuilt, perhaps nice to know.

    This may be the best video you guys made so far! Maybe I'm just biased, since it featured my home town. A shame I couldn't be there to have a little coffee with you. So nice to see that you visited my birthplace (Alkmaar)! Though I've only lived there the first 2 years of my life, and I haven't seen my family on the Noord-Holland side of the family for a few years (due to my parents divorce), so I haven't been to all these places either, it still has a warm place in my heart and I've visited many of these places when I was younger, especially Sprookjeswonderland and Zuiderzeemuseum! Seeing your video, I get inspired to visit these places again, even though it also makes me a bit sad thinking about those family members. Love this video!

    I have repeatedly visited Almmaar, Enkhuizen and Hilversum on my bicycle from my Amsterdam home. I hope I'll be able to regain the fitness.
    I always imagine Enkhuizen (and Hoorn to an extent) as how Amsterdam musy have been some 400 years ago. Just study those two maps (wood-carved and painted) of Amsterdam by Cornelis Anthonisz. Something similar with Rotterdam and Delft, I guess.
    Hilversum is a remarkable place. Long a sheepherders' village on the dunes (like the Loonse and Drunense Duinen that you recently showed us). Part of the sand got transported to Amsterdam. The peat resurfaced. A canal was dug, a basin created. Philips liked the connections (water and railway) and built an electronics plant. The culture of Amsterdam (especially the Jewish quarter) was nearby. Electronics + culture = radio (and later television), hence the studios and broadcasting facilities, hence Beeld en Geluid. Or something like this. ;-)
    I don't know much about Alkmaar, but I do enjoy it.

      Most of the innercity of Amsterdam IS like it was 400 years ago.
      It's the largest still intact
      historical innercity of Europe !

    • @chrislaarman7532
      @chrislaarman7532 2 года назад

      @@r.i.p.theovangogh1848 Well, think all the filled-in canals open again, think away the asphalt and all modern-day traffic (and the Central Station), imagine most bridges openable again, think away many later buildings (including those behing the facades), and long-gone ones restored (including the merchant's exchange bridging the Amstel river at Dam square), think away most shop windows (and any larger pieces of glass at all), and you're almost there. :-)

    • @r.i.p.theovangogh1848
      @r.i.p.theovangogh1848 2 года назад

      @@chrislaarman7532 haha yes, I got it.
      Still there's a lot left of 17th century canalhouses including the old infrastructure as it was designed in the day.
      And if you skip the cars (and the bike's) and some 19th century gables you really get close to 17th centural history....
      But yes , altogether you are right.

      Ik Woon in Alkmaar en het is een van de mooiste steden in Nederland Sommige huizen zijn 700 jaar oud. Wij noemen het een dorp met stadse fratsen. Van uit de hele provincie komen mensen winkelen in Alkmaar In de zomer spelen er bandjes op het plein en de platte stenen brug in het weekend en er is altijd wel een of ander festival.
      Alls se pandemie voorbij is zou ik het beslist doen. Enkhuizen en Hoorn zijn ook heel mooi. In Hoorn kan je met een heel oud boemeltreintje naar Medeblik en vandaar met de boot over het ijselmeer naar Enkhuizen

It is much richer than elsewhere except, perhaps - I don't think so, the city of Amsterdam. E.g. Haarlem used to have more theatres per 100.000 inhabitants than Amsterdam, could you believe it? Even more fun to mention perhaps, the visits I did in Haarlem and Hilversum were to radiojinglecompanies, so kind of related to Beeld & Geluid in a way. Don't know much about Alkmaar, but the images you showed look a lot like Delft. The style of the buildings, the scale of the canals.
    One thing I have to say about the video... This one was fully voiced-over. You were reading a script and it showed... In other province videos you chat with Daan about stuff you've seen and done and I enjoy those videos more. You sound so much more natural without a script. Also wouldn't mind these videos being much longer. You must have seen enough to fill 20 or 30 minutes.

    Just keep the tourists away from Texel. Amstrrdam is already ruined!

      Please keep them in Amsterdam.
