Im new to pottery and now I just want to throw and trim pots all the time! I love your videos. You deliver the information without waffling on. I also love the aesthetic of your designs. You are such an inspiration. I also love the videos showing your studio or how you pack items. Its all fascinating to me. I think your film making skills are great too, many thanks, Robyn
Where were you when I needed you starting pottery a month ago?! These are the BEST quality pottery tutorials on RUclips by a landslide. Subscribed and excited to see how this channel grows!
Would you ever make a video about how you tap-center? You did it so quickly! It takes me absolutely forever no matter how many times I watch videos or practice
I'll do some filming of the process next time I'm doing it. There are some little things I can explain that'll make it easier but it's also just one of those simple tasks that eventually will 'click' and you'll get the hang of it. I practiced with an old tin bowl until I got consistent with that shape, but then you've also got to practice with all kinds of forms.
I'd suggest finding local classes, be it a taster session, if you can find that, or evening classes somewhere. If you really start to love the craft after that then offering to help out a local potter is a good way to make contacts and perhaps they'll teach you some of what they know in exchange for help around the studio. You've got to give it a go first though, especially before you purchase any of the equipment as it can be expensive setting up a pottery. Thanks for watching!
@@floriangadsby Thanks for replying, I think you're pottery is incredible and so calming to watch:). Hopefully, there are some local classes I can go to :)
It's a high iron stoneware clay body meant for reduction firing. And I only leave things under plastic for as long as they need... covering them sort of pauses them from drying, so I'll uncover them when I want them to dry at a faster rate. I just use it to make sure things don't get too dry overnight when I'm not there to control how fast they dry out. What's more important is the time they're out of the plastic.

I’m looking to try pottery as it looks very fun. What do you think would be the best way to start?

I don't have access to my wheel right now, living through your videos.
So glad you like the videos-I hope you're able to get throwing again soon!
What kind of clay do you use and how long time is it drying under the plastic.
It very nice pottery.

♥️♥️♥️
do you make your own glazes?
I do, they're all mixed from raw materials in the studio.
What clay are you throwing?
