To the best of my recollection reading his book, he thought if doesn't notify the Congress and Hillary gets elected and then the outcome of the investigation reveals she committed a crime, then FBI would be criticized why didn't they notify the Congress, so people would know in advance and then decide who they want to vote for. But at the same time, FBI was investigating the sore loser's campaign ties to Russia and decided to hid that investigation from the public. Comey should have used the same rational he applied to Clinton's emails investigation when it came to Trump campaign's ties to Russia and notify that investigation to Congress as well. Comey is an honorable man, I don't question his integrity, but he made a mistake not notifying the Congress about the ongoing investigation regarding Trump.

My son was a bank teller for a short time after graduating from highschool school, and one day a guy in a baseball cap and sunglasses walked into the bank, strolled up to him, pulled a gun and robbed him. He was 18 years old. The FBI came in to investigate and questioned him. These guys were so great, they put him at ease and reassured him. At one point they asked him if he saw any tattoos, birth marks, etc. He couldn't recall and said that he was sorry that he was probably the worst witness they had ever seen. At that point the agent put his hand on his shoulder and said, " son, you did everything perfectly. " That was such a comfort to him, I'll always be grateful to the FBI. These guys are well trained and dedicated to their profession. In any organization there are always a few bad apples, but by in large, these guys work hard , are honest, and deserve our respect.
I have met FBI agents twice in my life. And both times they were very respectful, very focused on their work. I admire that agency and its members. Someone who was living in my home did go to jail, but he did something wrong. He would also say he was treated fairly and with respect.

Hindsight is 20/20. To the best of my recollection reading his book, he thought if doesn't notify the Congress and Hillary gets elected and then the outcome of the investigation reveals she committed a crime, then FBI would be criticized why didn't they notify the Congress, so people would know in advance and then decide who they want to vote for.
But at the same time, FBI was investigating the sore loser's campaign ties to Russia and decided to hid that investigation from the public.
Comey should have used the same rational he applied to Clinton's emails investigation when it came to Trump campaign's ties to Russia and notify that investigation to Congress as well.
Comey is an honorable man, I don't question his integrity, but he made a mistake not notifying the Congress about the ongoing investigation regarding Trump.

Neither one ever developed into any substancial ramifications for the respective candidate. Both of which could have swayed voters. My son was a bank teller for a short time after graduating from highschool school, and one day a guy in a baseball cap and sunglasses walked into the bank, strolled up to him, pulled a gun and robbed him. He was 18 years old. The FBI came in to investigate and questioned him. These guys were so great, they put him at ease and reassured him. At one point they asked him if he saw any tattoos, birth marks, etc. He couldn't recall and said that he was sorry that he was probably the worst witness they had ever seen. At that point the agent put his hand on his shoulder and said, " son, you did everything perfectly. " That was such a comfort to him, I'll always be grateful to the FBI. These guys are well trained and dedicated to their profession.
In any organization there are always a few bad apples, but by in large, these guys work hard , are honest, and deserve our respect.
I have met FBI agents twice in my life. And both times they were very respectful, very focused on their work. I admire that agency and its members. Someone who was living in my home did go to jail, but he did something wrong. He would also say he was treated fairly and with respect.

I used to be shocked the native speaker were not capable to notice that and all his interviews' and Congress solos' comment sections were full of fawning boomer ladies (they would disclose that demographic information directly or indirectly while complimenting him) that were perpetually in "awe" at this "well-spoken man" who finally articulated their thoughts about Trump in "such an intelligent manner."
