Bennett, this submission was superb and a massive hit by Dionne. It's an outstanding song, artist, and submission, all topped off by your review, Harri. Well done, Bennett!
Originally from 1964, this Burt Bacharach/Hal David song, was tailored and written for Dionne's range and sweetness in her voice. Nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B recording, this was the follow-up to " Anyone Who Had a Heart". Dionne's vocals can be delicate or overpowering, but have that rich huskiness, this tune drenched with emotion. The genius in the musical ensemble, captures the sound of a breaking heart 💔. The original recording had 2 baby grand pianos, the wonderful guitar riff adds a funky edginess through out, the horns, the strings, just typical brilliance of Bacharach and David production. Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ Wonderful live performance Bennett 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
Wow. I have always loved her voice. Like most people I did not know this existed. You are right, it feels surreal, seeing her in a club singing this hit. I hope there is more of this out there.
Dione worked with Burt Backerack (sp?) on numerous songs. Have a listen to "ALFIE" from the movie score. Loved her voice..so unique. Thanks for this video today. Motown was so predominant during her time, so happy that she found musical material that showcased her special talents. ❤
It's a rainy night here. I am taken back to rainy days in 1964. Great film of her singing this great song with the club in the background. Thanks Harri
The most recent cover of this great song that I know of was done by Seal...and it was great. Great songs done by great singers make for the best of times.
My mom was a Burt Bacharach fan so I’ve been listening to Dionne since I was l was literally in diapers. Her voice is magic. I love seeing reaction channels do USA for Africa and being shocked by her line. Magic then and magic now.
Harri, this clip is phenomenal - maybe my favorite video you have ever reacted to. Everything is perfect - the lighting, the sound, the performance… this is a true gem. Of course, the Bacharach/David song, paired with Dionne Warwick is classic, but this performance was magnificently captured. So darn good. Thanks, requestor for putting this one up there. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I remember when Dionne got caught at the airport with some weed. It actually boosted her career. All my friends were like, "I knew she was cool!" Good for her!
One of my all-time favorite songs reminds me of growing up and my mom who was the most wonderful person and singer... One thing she has that a lot of singers today just don't seem to get is using beautiful Dynamics... soft, light and just enough power when needed 💚
What an amazing performance by Dionne! I imagined what it must have been like to be watching her perform in such a small, intimate venue. She looks as she always does when I think of her. Thanks so much for this memory, Bennett, and many thanks to Harri for your wonderful reaction.
Holy Cow Harri! This is why I watch these reaction videos. I cant believe I got to see this. How intimate. It's almost as if you had a front seat in the venue. Where in the world did you find this? Her voice is so young, crystal clear. Amazing. You just got a new subscriber😉
How did I find this? A combination of luck and a bit of a system. Periodically I search for live versions of favorite songs by favorite artists and now and then a gem like this comes up. It is amazingly intimate indeed. Excellent staging and camera work are part of the magic in addition to the artist herself.
@craigaust3306 Yeah, she was just a young thing in this vid. As for her being a smoker, I do recall when she got busted at LAX for holding some devil's lettuce...
Pure vocal. No tech assist.
Talent.
ikr!?

Fantastic performance! This is a true gem. Perfect request and review. Thanks Harri and Bennett 🌸💐🎄
So classic it takes me back to the better days, watching it on black and white tv
Written by the great duo of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, they loved Dionne and wrote many beautiful song's for her and made her rich and famous!

I was born in 1965. This is a CLASSIC TUNE !! \m/
One of the greatest musical collaborations of the past 60 years. Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach & Hal David.
Fantastic ❤❤
Wow. I have always loved her voice. Like most people I did not know this existed. You are right, it feels surreal, seeing her in a club singing this hit. I hope there is more of this out there.
How stunningly magnificent, and live to boot. Dionne was just great.

Maybe it's Bacharach?😂 IDK!
I was the ripe old age of 9 when this song came out, it still is classic

Great film of her singing this great song with the club in the background.
Thanks Harri
So beautiful, like a singing panther
Dionne is an amazing talent.
I loved this Bacharach song so so much and I loved the voice of Dionne Warwick. Awesome.
I’ve never seen this video gem. Wow, she is a powerful voice in music. Blown away!

Most welcome Cynthia!

Absoltely a beloved tune, which sounds as good, if not better, than when it was initially released!! CLASSIC❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Yay Ty & yourreaction😊, next I'll Never Fall In Love Again, goosebumps She's Phenomenal ❣️❣️❣️
Fabulous, thank you Bennett and Harri.
I love 60s kitch. This is right there.
The idol of the late great Luther Vandrosd!
I've seen some great videos from Belgium, from the sixties, and much more recently
The Stranglers do an amazing version of Walk on By
an easy 10 out of 10 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Her and Birt were a natural combo.
Btw: I think the musicians who played for Belgian t.v. when Chuck Berry sang there were jazz musicians - they looked a bit confused at first
When i was a kid, I wanted to.marry her be cause of her voice!

I thought hers was the best voice I had ever heard!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Definitely singing a couple octives higher than the Dionne we mostly know. Still a diamond in the rough
I noticed that, also. Maybe some of it is due to her being 24 years old at this point, or maybe she was a smoker and her voice eventually deepened.
@craigaust3306 Yeah, she was just a young thing in this vid. As for her being a smoker, I do recall when she got busted at LAX for holding some devil's lettuce...
Harri, You didn't mention the clandestine spy who was waiting to attempt to kill James Bond, featured at the end.
😄
Whitney Houston's Aunty
Cousin
Her voice got better with a bit more age [80s]
I was a bigger fan of Dionne's than either her sister DeeDee or her cousin Whitney.
