Both ways look delicious! Your son will be as good as you are with cooking. He certainly has a good teacher. Great recipe! Who doesn't love macaroni and cheese? 😋😋
I love it! My friends son worked late shifts at his job. He would cook in his room too. He did that so he wouldn’t wake anyone up bless his heart. I gave him a GF grill. He was so grateful to have it. I never thought of using creama or Dijon mustard. I’m giving both of those a try!
I FINALLY made this last night. It was ridiculously easy and tasted great. My husband and I loved it. MUCH better than the boxed stuff and MUCH easier than making a roux, cooking and draining the macaroni, etc. This is definitely going on repeat. Thank you!
Me and hubby once spent 3 weeks budget tent-camping in Hawaii years ago. All the campgrounds had at least one outlet so we bought an electric skillet and a cheap little rice cooker. Every night we made local easy specialties like Shoyu Chicken, Saimin, even fried shrimp in it! I just LOVE a good little electric skillet.
Thank you so much for posting this!! I’ve been looking for a simple Mac and cheese for my 3 yr old and the fact that you are making it one pot is just what I was looking for! ❤can’t wait to make it! Also, I love love love that you encourage your son to cook! Good job Mama!!
Yes, of course! we would l❤ve to be a part of his cooking journey! I bet you're very proud of him! Also, having him help you cook meals in the kitchen will go a long way. He will thank u later when he comes a personal 5 star chef 👨🍳 in a nice restaurant and then think back to his younger childhood preteen years & say my Mom taught me the basics of cooking and most of what I know. My grandma 👵 taught me & my older sister what we know about cooking and baking by allowing us to help prep meats & veggies from our garden how to properly season everything with what spices, seasoning, rubs and herbs etc...Always using our measurements and by eye balling it..Always salt n pepper to taste afterwards or 5 mins b4 its complete unless it calls for salt in boiling water for potatoes and pasta ...Always serve ur food as if ur cooking for urself and love ones with love. The memories will last a lifetime and something he will cherish and respect it for the rest of his life. 😊
Velveta and American cheese contain Sodium Citrate. That is the ingredient responsible for the creaminess that those cheeses bring. Ignore the haters and embrace the science. You can buy sodium citrate online if you prefer to add it in powder form.... but really... just add a couple slices of American to your usual cheese blend for that creamy texture. It also keeps the cheese from separating! Your son is a smart lad for learning to cook a few of his favorite things for when he leaves home. I have lived without a kitchen and I completely agree that an electric skillet is a game changer. Once you know a few recipes you can eat pretty well for a "one pot" system.
I wish my boys had an interest in cooking when they were younger. It would have been so easy to find gifts for them. A sous vide set up would serve him well in a dorm room. And if he likes science a bag of sodium citrate would up his mac and cheese game :)
I absolutely LOVED watching your son cook! The kid knows his way around the kitchen, but I am not surprised by that one bit! This is so precious; I love watching recipes being passed on through the generations. One day he will be making this macaroni and cheese for his children and your grandchildren :)
I made this for lunch yesterday!!!!❤❤❤❤❤ I used Velveeta 1#, butter 1/4 c, and cream cheese 1/4 c., 1/2# of macaroni elbows. Salt and pepper. I like some chili 🌶️, too.
Love your recipes! I laughed out loud at your adding the comments of “oh c’mon! And why?!?” When he spilled a little😂 good for him getting in practice of cooking in his room! If he lives in a dorm he will be ready! He should invest in an instapot! So versatile! He would be unstoppable if he had that and an electric skillet both in a dorm room! ❤️ I made your Greek chicken and potato bake with tzatziki sauce recipe the other night! It was absolutely delicious! Thank you for the effort you put in to your content here in you tube! I absolutely love your recipes 😊
I love that your son cooks ❤️ I failed my girls. They can make scrambled eggs and instant ramen. I already have my one and a half year old granddaughter in the kitchen with me stirring things. Someone needs to be able to cook for her Mama and her Auntie 😂 I commented before I finished the video but I also add Dijon mustard to my baked Mac and Cheese, it's delicious. He did a great job!
Thanks for this. Definitely going to try with my niece's...they love Mac and cheese and I can already tell they'd love this. Definitely got a subscribe and like. 😊
Oh my God just made this and I tried it LOVED:)...will be my go to macaroni and cheese....I did add a little shaker Parm to it....I thought it was better without it...but still a good Mac n cheese:)....thank you for sharing.
I think it's awesome that your son likes to cook!! And he's even got his own RUclips channel oh my goodness awesome. Both of your macaroni looks delicious
This looks so good !! I always just do boxed for my kids because usually when I make it for dinner I end up baking/broiling it and sometimes the crunchy bits of cheese are hard for my kiddos to eat, I can't wait to make this for them!! My boy also loves to help me cook so I'll let him add all the ingredients to the pot ❤🫶
I like to use Velveeta because it's creamy and I don't usually keep American slices around. Then I like to add a kick of sharp cheddar. The best of both worlds! Your son is learning life skills. And subsequently teaching them as well. Good job, both of you! 👏🏻 💖
I love BOTH versions! Your son is going to make some young lady very happy when he marries! Angelica - any more Spooky Stories for us? Where should I look for them?
Back in the day (1960s) before slow cookers were commonly available, electric skillets we're workhorse appliances for cooking and frying. Being able to make a stew or pot roast on low or fry doughnuts on high by dialing the temp. w/o adjustment once you set it is so convenient.
I use chicken stock instead of water, milk and heavy cream, with gruyere cheese, mozzarella, and medium cheddar, cayenne pepper, mustard powder, white pepper.
Delicious! I’ve been making mac & cheese for years. But always drain my noodles make my sauce and then put them back in. This is definitely a shortcut that I will be doing. I just tried it, currently eating my creamy mac & cheese for dinner. The only struggle I had was determining the proper amount of water because if you turn it up to high, it boils off too fast, so I added a little bit of water back in and reduced the temperature and that seem to work. I used sharp cheddar and Colby Jack and heavy cream with my milk and chicken broth.
He did great! I dunno if I would like that dijon tho! I just got out your cookbook the other day. I have used some of your recipes almost weekly for years! Have a great day.... ANd I love the new kitchen! COngratulations
Your son's "private diner" resonates and vibes, especially the colors and editorial comments. Mucho appreciate your encouragement of a youngling producing wholesome content. BTW, no standard stove/oven here (long story🙄) but have microwave/hotplate/electric skillet/toaster oven/electric kettle/air fryer/slow cookers and InstantPot. It's a significant learning curve to adapt/adjust some recipes but has challenged me more as a cook tbh. Love and peace to ya'll. 🥰
They both look delicious,I like the idea of adding mustard. What’s the name of your son’s channel my granddaughter likes to watch kid’s cooking videos.
I've heard that adding some American cheese like this helps keep your cheese from getting that weird grainy texture :) It's the sodium citrate in it I think?
I cooked in my room when I was living in the dorms. I had an electric skillet, crock pot, a small oven, and a microwave, as did my roommate. Idk if that’s still allowed. Nowadays, if you live in the dorms, their meal plan is mandatory.
Awesome, more cheeeeeese please!
It's wonderful to see your son inspired by his mom. Good for you for allowing him to experiment and grow by being a chef in his own room!
I'm so impressed with your son's cooking! And the little exasperated subtitles about the spilled macaroni was very funny. 😂
That is wonderful that you son likes cooking. Glad you encourage him! My son is the primary cooking him family. His wife likes baking.
Me and my husband are the same. He is the better cook, I am the better baker
Food is perfect. Your love for your son and your kindness leaps off this page. What a cool soul you are!
Both ways look delicious! Your son will be as good as you are with cooking. He certainly has a good teacher. Great recipe! Who doesn't love macaroni and cheese? 😋😋

Awww, that's so awesome your son likes to cook. So impressed 👏 and you're right, once he's off to college he will be set. Love both versions ❤
I FINALLY made this last night. It was ridiculously easy and tasted great. My husband and I loved it. MUCH better than the boxed stuff and MUCH easier than making a roux, cooking and draining the macaroni, etc. This is definitely going on repeat. Thank you!
Thanks for the recipe. I think it’s wonderful that your son cooks.❣️❣️

Great job, Mom, great job kudos! We have a chef 👨🍳 on our hands indeed 😀 Fantastic!
I have 3 daughters and 1 son. It’s my son that loves to cook! He makes the best broccoli cheese soup and Kabocha bread!! Yum!
Your son did a fantastic job. Our youngest grandson is on the autism spectrum and this gives me hope. Wonderful!

I really like your son’s version of Mac & cheese! Yes, give us his videos channel! Good for him! It’s the making of a future chef!
Love velveeta for mac and other dishes! Loved seeing your son’s recipe too 💫

Good for your son for cooking food for himself. He’ll do good when he is on his own. Good job Momma!! 💖🙏🏻

Growing up in south Florida in the 60's my mom cooked every meal in an electric skillet. Her pot roast was awesome.
Looks very good and easy to make! Thank you so much for sharing ❤ Absolutely delicious! Warm greetings 💐
They both look yummy😋😋
Great job guys,
I use chicken stock instead of water, milk and heavy cream, with gruyere cheese, mozzarella, and medium cheddar, cayenne pepper, mustard powder, white pepper.

You did a great job raising that kid! Someday his wife will thank you!🙏🏽
Both MAC and CHEESE 🧀 🫕 versions look yummy😋!
No roux, no egg... I thank you🎉
Start adding in the instruction as well. It will help. Thank you.
Yes!!! Please I would like the link to your son's room's recipes please
cheese on the side of the pot no problem...love a man that can cook.
Great. Teach them how to cook at home & you know they won’t starve when they go off to college. Edited to correct autocorrect. Grrr
I like mustard in my mac n cheese so the son's version is my favorite though they both look really good.
Your son should have his own channel, "cooking in my room" for the many people living in studios or small Apts w no ovens, very helpful. 🍳
They both look delicious,I like the idea of adding mustard. What’s the name of your son’s channel my granddaughter likes to watch kid’s cooking videos.
